England – BFF: Hundreds of conservation experts join forces to pressure WHO to force live animal markets to close.

WAV Comment – A good time to see what the WHO response will now be.  Are they just like the EU institutions; exist and pay themselves high salareis; ignore the evidence and bow to the wishes of the lobbyists, or do they actually have the will and power to do anything ? – we wait and watch with interest, for a very concerned global community which is suffering because of the ignorance so far !  As the Independent (London) says:

Coronavirus: Hundreds of conservation experts join forces to pressure WHO to force live animal markets to close

The World Health Organisation (WHO) is coming under some of the greatest pressure it has experienced in its 72-year history – to force the closure of live animal markets to prevent future pandemics.

More than 200 conservation groups across the world have signed an open letter calling on the organisation to do all it can to prevent new diseases emerging from wildlife trade and spreading into global pandemics.

Virus Sparks Soul-Searching Over China's Wild Animal Trade - WSJ

Scientists say the evidence points to Covid-19 originating from animals – most likely bats – in “wet” markets where live and dead creatures, from dogs and hares to turtles, are sold as food and slaughtered on demand.

Previous epidemics, including severe acute respiratory syndrome, which killed nearly 800 people in 2002-3, and Ebola, which has killed at least 11,300 people, have also been linked to viruses caused by hunting bush meat or other wildlife consumption.

Ever since evidence of the Covid-19 link to Wuhan’s wet markets was revealed earlier this year, experts worldwide have called for such places to be shut down because of the risk of starting dangerous diseases.

What Are Wet Markets?

The new joint letter calls on the WHO to recommend to governments worldwide that they bring in permanent bans on live wildlife markets and close down or limit trade in wildlife to reduce the threat to human health.

In February, the Chinese government temporarily banned such markets, although there is evidence some sellers have started up again or are dealing online.

The experts also want the use of wildlife, including from captive-bred animals, to be “unequivocally” excluded from the organisation’s definition and endorsement of traditional medicine.

Last year the WHO added traditional Chinese medicine, which uses animal body parts, to its influential global compendium.

Conservationists say the WHO should work with governments and international bodies such as the World Trade Organisation to raise awareness of the risks the wildlife trade poses to human health and society.

It should also support and encourage initiatives that deliver alternative sources of protein to people who survive on eating wild animals.

At the same time, world leaders are receiving a science-based white paper from Humane Society International, warning that Covid-19 is “a tipping point that governments globally must not ignore” and asking governments to help the traders involved to find new livelihoods as quickly as possible.

Without action, “the emergence of another coronavirus-based disease in the future is a practical certainty”, the paper says.

In the UK, the paper is being sent to foreign secretary – and effective deputy prime minister – Dominic Raab, health secretary Matt Hancock and environment secretary George Eustice.

The United Nations’ biodiversity chief has also added her weight to demands for a global ban on wildlife markets. Elizabeth Maruma Mrema said the change could prevent new pandemic diseases from spreading.

China's 'wet markets' start selling bats, dogs again: Report

“The message we are getting is if we don’t take care of nature, it will take care of us,” she told The Guardian, but cautioned poor commmunities would need support to prevent them trading illegally and driving species extinctions.

Markets selling live animals – both captured from the wild and bred in captivity – are popular in southeast Asia but also exist in Africa and South America.

The Chinese government encouraged them to expand and become more commercial during the 1980s.

Mark Jones, the head of policy at Born Free, said the trade in wild animals was not only bad for the welfare of millions of individual animals but was also a major factor in global declines in wildlife.

“We need to dig deep and reset our fundamental relationship with the natural world, rethink our place in it and treat our planet and all its inhabitants with a great deal more respect, for its sake and for ours,” he said.

“Once Covid-19 is hopefully behind us, returning to business as usual cannot be an option.”

Separate research by wildlife charity WWF has found high levels of public support in Asia for closing illegal and unregulated wildlife markets and the wildlife trade.

The survey, conducted in Hong Kong, Japan, Burma, Thailand and Vietnam, found 93 per cent of people supported eliminating illegal and unregulated markets.

Influential organisations including the RSPCA, Humane Society International, Peta, the US-based Wildlife Conservation Society, World Animal Protection and Four Paws International have all spoken out against wildlife trading since the Covid-19 pandemic.

Even before China’s temporary ban, some of the country’s own researchers called for a crackdown.

Dr Jones added: “The World Health Organization has a mandate to promote human health, keep the world safe, and protect the vulnerable.

“We are asking the WHO to advise governments to permanently close down wildlife markets, and to curb the commercial trade in wild animals for food, traditional medicines and the myriad of other uses for which wildlife is exploited.

“A global response to curb wildlife trade is clearly needed to prevent further human health crises, and to reverse the unprecedented decline in the natural world.”

The Independent has asked the WHO whether it is considering making any recommendations to world governments.

Racist, colonial mentality!

WHO chief slams suggestion to use Africa as testing ground for Covid-19 vaccine!

The suggestion by two French medical experts to test coronavirus vaccines in Africa is racist, appalling and a relic of colonial mentality, head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has said.

WHO news conference on the novel coronavirus (COVID-2019)WHO-director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus -DENIS BALIBOUSE/ REUTERS

Jean Paul Mira and Camille Locht brought up the issue during an appearance on the French TV channel LCI last week, pointing to the lack of masks, treatments and ventilators on the continent.

Asked about it on Monday, Tedros said he was “appalled” by the “racist remarks.”

The hangover from the colonial mentality has to stop.

“Africa cannot and will not be a testing ground for any vaccine,” said the WHO chief, who hails from Ethiopia. “We will follow all the rules to test any vaccine or therapeutics all over the world using exactly the same rules, whether it is in Europe, Africa or wherever.”

Tedros’s comments echo the condemnations made by several European footballers of African heritage soon after the French experts’ discussion aired.

corona Impfung peg

African football icons including Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba have reacted with rage after the two doctors suggested the continent could be used as a testing ground during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Africa is not a playground for you,” tweeted Cameroonian-born former Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o.

Didier Drogba — born in the Ivory Coast — called the suggestion “scandalous” and “absolutely disgusting,” adding that Africans should not be used as guinea pigs.

Republic of Congo midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu, who left Scottish champions Celtic last year and was a Player of the Year for West Bromwich Albion during their spell in the Premier League, added: “Africa is not a trash can or a laboratory. No coronavirus vaccine test in Africa.”

Outraged Senegal star Demba Ba shared the video on social media and called for uproar. “Welcome to the west, where white people believe themselves to be so superior that racism and debility become a banality,” wrote the former Premier League and current Basaksehir forward, urging: “TIME TO RISE.”

Despite its relative lack of protective equipment and technology compared to elsewhere, Africa has been far less affected by the pandemic to date.

Out of the 1.3 million documented cases of Covid-19 across the world, only 9,500 have been registered in Africa, along with just under 450 confirmed deaths.

By comparison, the US has had almost 350,000 cases and over 10,000 deaths.

And I mean…Bill Gates and Michael Bloomberg, now supported by Warren Buffett, with their foundations are the main financiers of the World Health Organization WHO. The BGMF, at the top, finances the WHO’s five billion budget with around 700 million a year, together with the US and British governments, which otherwise keep the UN as short as possible or boycott it.

Among other things, the WHO defines which diseases are important for the world and when an epidemic has become a pandemic.

“The secret WHO boss is Bill Gates,” was the headline of the German weekly “Die ZEIT”, which admires the self-proclaimed human savior.

Conclusion: the head of the WHO reacted correctly and fairly, maybe his reaction cost him the job.
But because Bill Gates is the main shareholder of the WHO (the Bill Gates Foundation is one of the main donors of the WHO), I recommend testing the vaccine on him and his children first.
This means that Bill Gates’ children can be sure that the vaccine is safe.

Source Surge Activism

Many of the world’s deadliest outbreaks, including COVID-19, SARS and bird flu – are directly linked to the exploitation of animals by humans.

Summarized in our latest Surge Media campaign released amid the global coronavirus pandemic, and explored in greater depth in an upcoming white paper, Surge has brought together findings from the world’s leading authorities on infectious diseases including the World Health Organisation (WHO), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The CDC warns that three out of four new or emerging infectious diseases in people come from animals, while the WHO, FAO and OIE have previously stated that increased demand for animal protein is one of the main risk factors of a pandemic.

The HIV virus started because of humans eating chimpanzees and the recent Ebola outbreak started because of people eating bats. Furthermore, BSE and the human equivalent vCJD is believed to have started in the UK because farmers were feeding dead infected cattle back to cattle, forcing them to cannibalise, and an ancestral strain of swine flu was traced back to a pig farm in North Carolina.

Surge also hopes that shedding light on the global prevalence of zoonotic outbreaks will help shift blame away from certain countries and cultures associated with more recent diseases, such as China where both COVID-19 and SARS are believed to have originated from so-called ‘wet’ markets according to the most widely accepted theories.

In light of recent attacks against individuals who appear Asian, Surge urges the public to understand that diseases occur all over the world – including the US (HIV and swine flu) and the UK (BSE / vCJD) – and their places of origin can be different to where their major outbreaks were recorded.

Not all of the world’s zoonotic outbreaks can be attributed to the intentional exploitation of non-human animals, but enough have been to warrant a discussion about the way we use others. The transmission of zoonotic diseases to humans is not entirely preventable as there is always a chance that zoonotic viruses, bacteria and other pathogens can be passed to humans in situations where there is no direct exploitation of animals, but Surge posits that the risk would be considerably lower than, taking the example of swine flu, in an intensive farming environment where huge numbers of animals are brought into close proximity with humans in a way that would virtually never happen in any other setting, or in the case of BSE, where cows would never naturally cannibalise other cows.

Moving away from the use of non-human animals will greatly lower the risk of future outbreaks of unknown zoonotic diseases, and save not only non-human animal lives, but those of countless thousands of humans. While it is impossible to predict how many lives could be saved this way, COVID-19 has already killed around 25,000 worldwide to-date, while other recent outbreaks like SARS, swine flu and avian flu combined have killed hundreds of thousands.

Australia and the environment criminals from Forestry Corporation

A mere month after the bushfires that devastated much of Australia have been contained, a logging company in the state of New South Wales (NSW) has continued to deforest what was left unburnt.

australia pg

This is the same NSW that lost close to a third of its koala population to the blazes, while 24% of all koala habitat was turned to ash.

coala mutter mit Kind jpg

Because the assessment of the bushfires’ environmental impact has not yet been completed, we have no idea just how bad it is. But one thing is sure: logging will only hurt more and should not be allowed to continue until we know the extent of the damage. We could lose entire species forever.

Australia Flammenjpg

But the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) of NSW says that the logging company, called Forestry Corporation, is not in violation of the logging laws in the state.

That’s why we must demand that the government of NSW temporarily suspend the Coastal Integrated Forestry Operations Approval (IFOA), the state’s logging laws, until the fires’ impacts have been completely assessed.

Sign the petition today!

The devastation that Australia’s koala population suffered was broadcast around the world. It is hard to forget the videos of koalas running from fires, their fur often singed or filled with smoke, as brave witnesses spring into action with blankets and water bottles. But they are not the only species in trouble.

coala mit mutter_n

In fact, the Department of Agriculture, Water, and the Environment released a list of 119 species that they considered in urgent need of aid post-fires. One of the ways a species lands a spot on this list is if a large portion of its habitat was taken in the fires.

One such species is the Hastings River mouse, whose habitat burned down to just 18% of its original size. Yet some of the unburnt sites that Forestry Corporation has been logging serve as important remnant habitat for the displaced and devastated mouse population. Forestry Corporation had been granted clearance to log in burnt areas of the state’s forests, where animals cannot live but timber can still be salvaged.

But instead they continued to log in patches of thriving forest, including areas within the proposed Great Koala national park.

Australia must step up to protect its native animal populations. 244 species found on the continent do not appear anywhere else in the world, and therefore must be protected at all costs. If logging companies are allowed to conduct business as usual without a complete fire impact assessment informing operations, we risk losing these animals forever.

But there is still time to save them!

Add your name to the petition asking the state government of NSW to suspend the Coastal IFOA until all impact assessments of this season’s bushfires are complete.

And I mean…the human animal does not have the least biological value on this planet, there is absolutely nothing that it can give to nature, it lacks any competence for it …
with everything it does, it only destroys nature and animal life.

And something like that is called “intelligent” … it is by far the stupidest, most perfidious and most hideous being on earth …
It is not part of nature at all, it is excluded from nature.

Antibodies in Bear SALIVA can be used to Cure Coronavirus, INSTEAD of Bear Bile Injections. A Cruelty Free Solution ? – Watch the Video.

With thanks to Daniel H. for passing this information over to us.

He says – We have strong reason to believe that the antibodies in bear saliva can be used to cure coronavirus, INSTEAD of bear bile injections, this will obviously avoid unnecessary pain to wildlife, if saliva can be used instead of bear bile to cure coronavirus.
Sincerely,
Daniel

The Chinese government has officially recommended to use bear bile injections to cure coronaviraus. Extraction involves an unnecessary painful procedure to the donor animal. We have reason to believe the antibodies in bear saliva will have the same medicinal effect, thus a cure can be provided without the unnecessary pain endured by the animal!

Please encourage more research!

Useful Information About the Virus.

The following is from an Asst. Prof in infectious diseases at Johns Hopkins University, and is very informative.

* The virus is not a living organism, but a protein molecule (DNA) covered by a protective layer of lipid (fat), which, when absorbed by the cells of the ocular, nasal or buccal mucosa, changes their genetic code. (mutation) and convert them into aggressor and multiplier cells.

* Since the virus is not a living organism but a protein molecule, it is not killed, but decays on its own. The disintegration time depends on the temperature, humidity and type of material where it lies.

* The virus is very fragile; the only thing that protects it is a thin outer layer of fat. That is why any soap or detergent is the best remedy, because the foam CUTS the FAT (that is why you have to rub so much: for 20 seconds or more, to make a lot of foam).

By dissolving the fat layer, the protein molecule disperses and breaks down on its own.

* HEAT melts fat; this is why it is so good to use water above 25 degrees Celsius for washing hands, clothes and everything. In addition, hot water makes more foam and that makes it even more useful.

* Alcohol or any mixture with alcohol over 65% DISSOLVES ANY FAT, especially the external lipid layer of the virus.

* Any mix with 1 part bleach and 5 parts water directly dissolves the protein, breaks it down from the inside.

* Oxygenated water helps long after soap, alcohol and chlorine, because peroxide dissolves the virus protein, but you have to use it pure and it hurts your skin.

* NO BACTERICIDE OR ANTIBIOTIC SERVES. The virus is not a living organism like bacteria; antibodies cannot kill what is not alive.

* NEVER shake used or unused clothing, sheets or cloth. While it is glued to a porous surface, it is very inert and disintegrates only
-between 3 hours (fabric and porous),

-4 hours (copper and wood)
-24 hours (cardboard),
– 42 hours (metal) and
-72 hours (plastic).

But if you shake it or use a feather duster, the virus molecules float in the air for up to 3 hours, and can lodge in your nose.

* The virus molecules remain very stable in external cold, or artificial as air conditioners in houses and cars.

They also need moisture to stay stable, and especially darkness. Therefore, dehumidified, dry, warm and bright environments will degrade it faster.

* UV LIGHT on any object that may contain it breaks down the virus protein. For example, to disinfect and reuse a mask is perfect. Be careful, it also breaks down collagen (which is protein) in the skin.

* The virus CANNOT go through healthy skin.

* Vinegar is NOT useful because it does not break down the protective layer of fat.

* NO SPIRITS, NOR VODKA, serve. The strongest vodka is 40% alcohol, and you need 65%.

* LISTERINE IF IT SERVES! It is 65% alcohol.

* The more confined the space, the more concentration of the virus there can be. The more open or naturally ventilated, the less.

* You have to wash your hands before and after touching mucosa, food, locks, knobs, switches, remote control, cell phone, watches, computers, desks, TV, etc. And when using the bathroom.

* You have to HUMIDIFY HANDS DRY from so much washing them, because the molecules can hide in the micro cracks. The thicker the moisturizer, the better.

* Also keep your NAILS SHORT so that the virus does not hide there.

USA: The Trump administration just gave polluters a free pass to pollute our air and water with impunity.

CBD1

The Trump administration just gave polluters a free pass to pollute our air and water with impunity.

Using the COVID-19 pandemic as cover, Trump’s EPA announced it will no longer enforce legally mandated public health and environmental protections nationwide — indefinitely, while the pandemic crisis lasts.

trump feb 2

Letting oil refineries, chemical plants and other industrial polluters off the hook is disgusting and shamelessly opportunistic.

Tell EPA Administrator Wheeler we can protect public health and the environment at the same time.

Never before has the EPA just given up and stopped enforcing its own rules at this scale.

The pandemic has upended what is normal for everyone, but that’s not an excuse to toss aside environmental protections.

We’ve seen countless attacks from the Trump administration on wildlife and the laws that protect it. The Endangered Species Act is already under tremendous threat from being weakened in its ability to save plants and animals.

Now, with the EPA turning a blind eye to industrial pollution, our public health could be even more seriously threatened. This cynical ploy is a new low, even for this administration.

Tell the EPA to reverse course and keep in place its enforcement of laws intended to keep our air and water clean.

Sea-Shepherd: why a quiet day on patrol is a good day

From the archive: December 20, 2018: Report by the captain of SAM SIMON, Alistair Allan

liberia Flag tinted horizontal texture

Liberia, West Africa – It’s a cloudless day again, and the blue water shimmers under the relentless sun. Only rarely does a light breeze blow through the endless, turquoise expanse that I look through my porthole.

The internal phone in my cabin starts ringing. At the other end of the line an excited voice calls out: “Orcas! Orcas are outside! ”

Killer whale group

I quickly climb the steps to the bridge and look out from the starboard side. When I look over the water, a huge dorsal fin appears right next to the ship. It is the largest of the school, the matriarch. I can see that they swim on all sides next to our ship, a family of about 12 animals! The crew is thrilled by the sight of the young members of the orca family jumping and splashing around.

-Orca_Alaska

The SAM SIMON has been on patrol in Liberia for a month now, and during this special meeting we were far away, on the eastern border between Liberia and the Ivory Coast. Here the Cavalla River flows into the sea and the area is known for its richness in species.

orca pg

Before the OPERATION SOLA STELLA started in 2016, the local small-scale fishermen complained that foreign industrial trawl vessels enter this area every day. They came across the border night after night, flattening the nets of the small fishermen, rolling over their canoes and stealing the fish with which they made a living.

Today, almost three years later, the Liberian coast guard, in cooperation with Sea Shepherds SAM SIMON and BOB BARKER, has completely stopped these nighttime ideas … continue on our website: https://sea-shepherd.de/2566

Some information about orcas: Orcas are the largest dolphins in the world. The males are 10 m long and 10 tons heavy. The females are somewhat smaller. They have pointed, conical teeth that are 7 cm long. The body is strong and the jaw is exceptionally strong.

Orcas are quick hunters. The broad tail fin gives the animal the necessary acceleration. They always hunt together and also live in a group. There are 6 to 40 animals in a family. They often stay together for a lifetime.

orcinus_orca-_4

An orca baby stays close to the mother. It also has to learn to speak. Orcas communicate through chants and a series of tones: they growl, hum, screech, whistle, scream and click. The orca mother speaks the words to her boy until she can pronounce them correctly. Orcas have the second largest brain of any living thing on the planet.

Orcas eat herring, salmon, penguins, seals, sea leopards, sea lions, rays, whales and sharks. They always came up with very special techniques for hunting.
The massive animals cover long distances in the wild, on average 65 kilometers a day. They don’t just do it because they can, but because they have to – to find varied food and to keep fit.
They dive several times a day at a depth of 30 to 150 meters.

The killer whales are becoming increasingly rare – and their survival is uncertain.

On the one hand, it is due to the perverse desire of humans to put these intelligent animals in a pool that is 45 x 28 x 9 meters in size, so that they serve as entertainment for stupid tourists. Most of them die in captivity after a few years and do not give birth to a calf for years.

orca-schwertwal-1280x600

On the other hand, the king salmon is becoming increasingly rare. This very high-fat type of salmon is the main food source of the orcas. The fish swims up the Tazer River, which flows into the sea off the Seattle coast. Here the killer whales usually grab their prey.

But the number of salmon in the Pacific Northwest has been declining for decades. Overfishing, dams, cutting down coastal forests and, last but not least, climate change are reducing the population.

Maybe we, we human beings, can save these intelligent sea creatures.
Animal protection is education to humanity.
The only person who is truly moral is those who respect and save all life.
