Petition to SIGN: TO STOP THE SLAUGHTER OF AMERICA’S WILD HORSES

America’s iconic wild horses are in grave danger of being sold off to meat slaughterhouses in Mexico and Canada to face torture and brutal death.

U.S. Forest Service has just built a corral for wild horses, and it’s holding 260 animals rounded up from Modoc National Forest in Northern California. The horses’ fates hang in the balance as they may soon be shipped off to foreign slaughterhouses and butchered for meat.

TAKE ACTION

  • Then, email Forest Service Chief Vicki Christiansen at vcchristiansen@fs.fed.us and urge her to stop the killing.

Instead of brutally killing America’s horses, the government should enact cruelty free population control efforts, like reducing births — as well as protect the public land on which these majestic creatures roam free.

We must speak out for the lives of these horses.

There are some Trumped up narcissists who survive only on the amount of money they have and by ensuring that everybody calls them ‘Mr President’.  These are the same folk who are supposed to run a nation and keep people in employment paid a monthly, living wage.  On the other side of the coin, there are many folk who are not financially rich; but who do hold that special trait of being ‘compassionate’ people; trying to help other living. sentient beings.  In the following videos you will witness actions from such people.  In our opinion; these folk are the real ‘heroes’ of any nation; they do not seek self glorification from the media; instead they just get on doing what they do best – in this case saving desperate animals in need of help; providing care for their survival.  We salute them; not the jumped up egomaniacs living in their ‘fake’ world that says they think everything they do is correct whilst everything others do is wrong.

Welcome here to the world of compassionate, normal; sensible people:

From Animal Aid Unlimited; India:

Last week we welcomed special dignitaries to visit our shelter and to honour some of Animal Aid’s most active community volunteers. The special guests included the previous Rajasthan Home Minister and now Rajasthan Opposition Leader, Gulab Chand Kataria; an MLA and senior police officer and local business leader.

We were greatly assisted by Dr Jinendra Shastri, a political leader in Udaipur, who helped organise the event and ensured that the media covered activities of Animal Aid throughout the week, including a special feature about two of our most stellar volunteers, Anca Gheorghe from Austria and Ayala Melki, from Israel. We loved the publicity, the awareness raised about street animals’ problems, and the opportunity to celebrate Udaipur residents who have helped save so many lives

Sweet Prince walks again

We got a call for a dog who had been hit by a bike and was unable to walk. He had somehow dragged himself to the side of the road but was unable to stand or to walk. He was so happy to see his rescuers that he wagged his tail despite the pain of his injuries. We brought the dear boy back to Animal Aid’s hospital and began his treatment and 6 weeks of bed rest.

Please donate today to save the lives of precious street animals like Prince.

Baby calf drowning in well, rescued

His mother cow was frantic. She paced back and forth at the edge of an open well in heart-breaking agony because her calf had fallen in. We could barely distinguish his face looking up from the floating garbage as, exhausted and ice cold, he took his last breaths. Our rescue team arrived just in time. Watch a beautiful mother get her most desperate wish fulfilled.

Please donate for animals, and for those who love them most.

Mr Teddy Bear was starving and riddled with mange

He cowered under a porch, weakened with agony after what must have been weeks of maddening itching from mange. His scab-encrusted body was also attacked by maggots that had entered the skin which he had scratched open in desperate confusion. Too ravaged by the mange parasites to eat, this precious dog was in the final stages of his life. But watch what happened next.

Even extremely ill animals can be saved. But they need your help. Please donate.

7 years ago Udaipur animals got a new guardian angel with rescue team leader Bhagat Singh. As a our ambulance driver, Bhagat has led his team in literally thousands of life-saving missions, guiding rescuers down winding lanes, calamitous construction sites, busy freeways and into the back rooms of private houses–wherever animals hide in pain, or are stopped in their tracks by urgent health problems. Bhagat cheerfully tackles near-impossible distances and every hour makes critical judgments about which animals need to be treated as the highest rescue priorities. Bhagat Singh has set the highest standard for life-saving rescues.

Britain Bans Sale Of Puppies And Kittens In Pet Stores

Posted by Lisa Blanck | January 3, 2019

uk puppy kitten ban

After a whopping 95 percent of public comments voiced support for ending the sale of puppies and kittens in pet stores, the British government confirmed that it will roll out the legislation in 2019.

Anyone looking to purchase a kitten or puppy under six months old must either get one from a rescue shelter or directly from a private breeder.

From the time the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) took the first public comment to the rollout of the new law, it took just five months to get the legislation confirmed.  Animal Welfare Minister David Rutley hailed the campaign, entitled “Lucy’s Law“, saying in part,

“We promote responsible pet ownership in our welfare codes and I urge fellow animal lovers to consider the idea of rehoming a dog from the many wonderful organizations across the country.”

Britain’s newest ban comes on the heels of previous legislation rolled out in October 2018, which blocked licensed dealers from selling dogs and cats under eight weeks old.

Lucy’s Law was founded by Dr. Marc Abraham, a veterinarian in Brighton, after the 2016 death of Lucy, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Her case brought much-needed attention to the horrific neglect suffered by animals in puppy mills; Lucy exhibited debilitating health issues such as fused hips, a curved spine and malnutrition due to unscrupulous breeding practices.

A petition with more than 143,000 signatures in support of Lucy’s Law was presented to the government in May.  Major animal charities such as the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) and celebrities including animal advocate Ricky Gervais were extremely supportive of the initiative. Earlier this year, in case any of his 13 million followers were considering adding a pet to their family, Mr. Gervais tweeted,

“This weekend plan a visit to your local rescue shelter, where your new best friend is waiting for you. #LucysLaw”.

In addition to promoting adoption, the new law will also tackle irresponsible breeding and sale of animals from puppy and kitten mills.  Dr. Abraham stated,

“Lucy’s Law will help end puppy farming, protect the future health and happiness of dogs like poor little Lucy, as well as encourage prospective pet owners to adopt from their local rescue shelter too.”

The British Government is also raising the bar on sentencing animal abusers, and has increased the Court’s ability to assign maximum sentences to up to five years, the harshest sentencing in Europe.

Thank You.

USA: A Very Positive Move – Californian law change means pet shops can sell only RESCUED animals.

USA-Flagge

WAV Comment:  California once again setting the animal welfare standard in the US.  A very positive move – well done them.  Helping rescued animals and cutting down on specifically bred animals.

Californian law change means pet shops can sell only rescued animals

California is set to become the first state in the US to ban the sale of non-rescue animals in pet shops.

The new law, known as AB 485, takes effect on 1 January. Any businesses violating it face a $500 (£400) fine.

The change means cats, dogs and rabbits sold by retailers cannot be sourced from breeders, only from animal shelters.

Animal rights groups have heralded it as a step forward against so-called “kitten factories” and “puppy mills”.

They say the current “high-volume” industries, where pets are bred for profit, can lead to inhumane treatment and long-term emotional and physical health problems in some animals.

The new state-wide law, approved in late 2017, will now require shops to maintain sufficient records of where they sourced each animal, for periodic checks by authorities.

§  The dogs without a home for Christmas

It does not, however, affect sales from private breeders or owner-to-owner sales.

Some Californian shop owners have raised concern the law could put them out of business. The measure has also seen resistance from the American Kennel Club, which said it limits pet owners.

According to American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) estimates, more than 6.5 million pets enter shelters across the country every year, of which about 1.5 million are put down.

The California assembly member who introduced the legislation, Patrick O’Donnell, has insisted the legislation is not just “a big win” for “four-legged friends”, but for California taxpayers too, as they spend hundreds of millions on sheltering animals across the state.

A couple hoping to adopt a cat from a San Diego shelter on Friday, told NBC News the move was a step forward for the state.

“It takes the emphasis off the profit of animals and puts the emphasis back on caring for and getting these cats and dogs a good home,” prospective owner Mitch Kentdotson said.

AB 485 is the first state-wide law of its kind, although other places have enacted similar regulations on pet sales on a local level.

Earlier this month, a similar ban on third-party puppy and kitten sales was confirmed in England.

Lucy’s law, named after a mistreated cavalier King Charles spaniel, also aims to combat low-welfare animal breeding.
