Germany: “Nothing is safe from hunters”

According to the German Hunting Association, hunters killed more raccoons than ever in the past season.

With 202,000 specimens shot nationwide in the period from April 1, 2019, to March 31, 2020, it recorded an increase of 22 percent compared to the previous season, the association announced.

The spokesman for the hunting association Torsten Reinwald told the German press agency that the reason was the increasing spread of the species, which originally came from North America, in Germany.

According to Reinwald, the small bears are particularly common in a band from the northeast to Hesse.
Reinwald emphasized that between 2006 and 2017 alone, the range of nocturnal small bears more than doubled.

Raccoons are on a list of alien invasive species for which “management measures” must be implemented in the European Union.
The hunt for raccoons serves to protect the European pond turtle, explained Reinwald.

Raccoons are considered to be “food generalists” in the hunting language – Reinwald puts it this way:
“Nothing is safe from raccoons.” (!!!)

They climbed trees and are also considered good swimmers.

According to its own statements, the hunting association sees great potential for the consumption of raccoon meat. It is of high quality and in the southern USA, for example, tens of thousands of animals are eaten annually.

As with wild boars, however, an examination for trichinae is mandatory before eating raccoons.
The raccoon population in Germany goes back to animals escaped and released after the Second World War.

And I mean…The only population that should be reduced, or best eliminated, is that of the hunters.
It is about heavily armed gangs with a murderous ideology who think they can do whatever they want in the woods.
And anyone who disagrees will be intimidated at gunpoint.

Hunters are not interested in the protection of the European turtles, the chatter about population control and damage limitation against wild invasions is only a deceptive appearance and does not even work for the dumbest of the dumb

It is shameful that a civilized society allows itself to be terrorized by a miserable hunter minority of 0.49% of the population.

Crane massacre in Lebanon: “It rained blood from the sky”

The online magazine “Reef Reporter” reports in detail on the crane massacre in Lebanon.

The Committee against Bird Murder had spread the incredible pictures and reports in October on social media – as a result, the police caught three of the perpetrators. The drug at the “Reef Reporters” is already two weeks old.

A hunter proudly poses with the killed cranes

Here is the article: Crane massacre in Lebanon
These days we are again receiving shocking images from Lebanon. This time by cranes. Dozens of individual hunters pose with the killed animals that they have hung on wire fences or draped on the hoods of their cars.

Even children can be seen in photos posing with the birds that are revered as “birds of happiness” in many countries.

In a report by a colleague from the ABCL bird protection association, it says: “These massacres are carried out every day across the country.”

Videos also show that was recorded for the different parts of the country, not only in the Lebanon Mountains in the north but also from the region around Tire in the far south.

We only hear about individual incidents in a flash. For example, last week near Ouyoun, east of Beirut, a group of pelicans were shot down with automatic M16 assault rifles.

We only know that more than a dozen birds were killed, and the weapon of war incident occurred less than 200 meters away from a military checkpoint.
During our research, we came across other similar incidents in the south and this crane massacre in the area around Tire on the coast.
Because of the corona pandemic, no international team from the bird protection organization can be on site this year.

Lloyd Scott, from the Committee against Bird Murder, is in constant contact with the Lebanese conservationists who are on duty regardless of the pandemic.

Apparently a great number of cranes were lured to rest at an estuary with the help of sound dummies, i.e. crane calls played on tape, and then slaughtered from military rifles and shotguns as soon as they started to land.

Many birds died instantly, others were able to fly away injured.

An eyewitness put it this way: “It rained blood from the sky”.
The shooting apparently lasted over two hours. The witnesses tried to stop the perpetrators, but they were on the other side of the estuary.

What happens to the birds that are killed?

The picture of a man holding up two dead cranes seems to have been made in a butcher’s shop.
Typically, larger birds are killed primarily as “sport”. Smaller birds are killed and eaten.

However, given the current political and economic situation in the country, it is likely that many of these birds will be slaughtered and eaten or sold for a profit in order to monetize them as illegal preparations.

However, many birds are simply left to die or thrown away after taking trophy pictures.

Lloyd Scott, of the Committee against Bird Murder, kneels on the ground while holding two illegally shot birds of prey in the air: a lesser spotted eagle and a long-eared owl.

There are now a large number of pictures of different, sometimes widely spaced locations, which show that the cranes were massively attacked in many places on the move.

One film shows children marching through the streets with a shot crane. The Tire massacre appears to be a particularly dire incident, but we believe there have been more such cases across the country in the past few days and weeks.

A massacre of migrating cranes in Lebanon sheds light on the deaths of millions of migratory birds on their way from Europe to Africa.

The rampant slaughter of eagles, storks, and songbirds is on the one hand an ethical scandal, but also a declaration of war on all attempts to preserve biological diversity.

In 2017, the Lebanese government also passed a new hunting law. Law No. 580 comprehensively regulates the shooting of birds and other wild animals for the first time. 13 species of birds are officially approved for shooting: quail, chukar chicken, mallard, common snipe, hollow, ringed and turtle dove, calendar lark, chaffinch, song thrush, and field thrush.

All other species, including all birds of prey, storks, pelicans, and cranes are strictly protected.

The use of electronic lure devices and boastful display, as documented in countless photos in the present case, is also prohibited.
And Lebanon is a member of the Bonn Convention for the Conservation of Migratory Species (!!!)

And I mean…The explosion in Lebanon killed more than 160 people and left hundreds of thousands homeless. The detonation of huge amounts of ammonium nitrate in the middle of the capital Beirut also shook the already fragile political situation in the country.
Only a total state failure as a result of nepotism and corruption makes such a catastrophe possible.

People are suffering from Corona and a devastating economic crisis. The money is no longer worth anything. People lose their jobs and then something like that happens.

Is that one reason why we “understand” the massacre that hunters and poachers carry out on migratory birds on their way to their winter quarters?
Should we also believe that poverty forces them to throw dozens of birds from the sky with hailstones?

If one really has nothing to bite and then catches birds to survive, then one could say that for the needy, morality or animal welfare is a luxury

But to shoot down the thousands of swallows that fly by in Lebanon on their journey, birds that are not eaten and are only massacred as a hobby and target exercise, then all understanding and tolerance come to an end.

Because that`s murder!

This also applies to Lebanon, but not only: we abhor the murderers who kill defenseless animals for fun or for a perverse hobby.
No matter which country they come from.

Ireland: Wild Caught Hares To Be Used for Coursing Must Be Returned to the Wild. Sign Up for A Complete Ban.

We have some good news for hares!

With a six-week lockdown in force in Ireland, the Irish Coursing Club has been ordered to halt the hare-coursing season and release wild-caught hares back into the countryside

While it’s great news that no coursing meetings will take place while lockdown restrictions are in place, the Irish government must take action to protect hares exploited for coursing in the long run.

If coursing is allowed to resume, many more terrified hares will be taken from their homes and forced to race for their lives.

Hares deserve to live in peace in the countryside – they’re not ours to abuse and kill in the name of entertainment. We’re demanding that Taoiseach Micheál Martin (the Irish prime minister) ban hare coursing altogether.

Every aspect of this ordeal is terrifying for the hares, who are gentle, solitary animals. They often die or are injured as a result of the netting process and during transport.

Those who survive are held in captivity and put through training sessions to get them used to the field where coursing meetings take place and to teach them to run up the centre of it. During training, they’re kept crammed together in an enclosure. This is completely unnatural and extremely stressful for them.

At course meetings, dogs are made to compete against each other in pursuit of each hare. The petrified hares run for their lives, desperate to evade the dogs. The dogs are muzzled, but this does little to reduce injuries and fatalities, as they can still forcibly strike the hares, pin them to the ground, and toss them in the air – breaking brittle bones, dislocating hips, fracturing spines, rupturing organs, and causing internal bleeding. Hares are extremely sensitive animals, and the fear and stress of the chase can also cause heart failure. If they can’t find the escape holes or routes at the end of the field, they may be chased for so long that they die from stress or exhaustion if they’re not caught and mauled to death first.

The dogs involved are also victims of the “sport”. Often subjected to intense training, they’re treated not as cherished members of the family but as money-making machines. They’re usually kept in concrete outdoor kennels, repeatedly used for breeding, and abandoned when they get injured or are deemed too slow for coursing and therefore are no longer profitable.

Hare coursing is cruel, outdated, and deadly. Take action to end this blood sport!

The government granted hare-coursing licences for the 2020/21 season despite the cruelty involved and the potential environmental impact. A private members’ bill, the Animal Health and Welfare (Ban on Hare Coursing) Bill, has been introduced by Paul Murphy TD and will be debated in the Irish Parliament in due course. This bill would make hare coursing a crime punishable by a €1,000 fine and up to six months in prison.

The situation is urgent – hare coursing must be stopped. Tell Taoiseach Micheál Martin (the Irish prime minister) to support this bill banning hare coursing altogether.

Demand that the Irish government end hare coursing by sending the taoiseach a message

the unknown life of the wild geese

Animals that are hunted in Germany: wild geese 💔
In the last hunting season (2018/2019) more than 100,000 of these sensitive animals were killed.

Did you know that they have such special properties?

Geese are herd animals and, in the mating season, enter into monogamous relationships that last a lifetime.
Even if their partner dies, they remain alone for the rest of their lives.
They sound the alarm even more sensitively than dogs.
They react sensitively to every strange noise with their warning calls.

Insel der Wildgänse : Auf Amrum gibt es Graugänse wie Sand am Meer | shz.de
Just like us, they can feel emotions.
For example, if the life partner dies, they grieve for a very long time and withdraw.

PETA Deutschland

And I mean…Up to 180,000 Arctic wild geese fly into Germany from the Siberian breeding areas in November and overwinter in the Lower Saxony area.
This makes the Lower Rhine the largest resting area in Western Europe.

Streit über Wildgänse flammt im Frühjahr wieder auf

Decades of persecution have made the geese fearful. At the slightest suspicion, they feel threatened and flee into the air. On the other hand, the animals have got used to the noisy traffic on the streets, it doesn’t bother them at all.

Wild geese need open grassland. If they can find enough to feed there, they don’t have to move to arable land, where they can cause great damage.

The geese from the north will stay in Germany until the end of February.

Wildgänse: Wintergäste aus dem hohen Norden - NABU

The Russian guests are long-distance migrants.
They cover the 6000-kilometer route in just a few stages of up to 1000 kilometers a day.
After the exhausting flight, there is a long break in which the animals strengthen their reserves of strength with plenty of food for the next stage

Abflug der Wildgänse nach Süden - Alla-on-tour.de

The typical wedge formation in flight saves around a third of the energy, as all animals can fly in the slipstream of the first goose. This particularly exhausting position is filled again and again so that the efforts are evenly distributed among all birds in the flock.

The farmers in Germany call wild geese a “nuisance” because the animals very often cannot find any open green space and they access the farmland.
And the hunters, always ready for a radical solution, “help” them to execute several thousand of the animals per year.

For their executions, they have no arguments, only weapons.
And a strong lobby in the government that ensures that everything is legal.

USA: Bowhunting Couple Charged in Nebraska’s Largest Poaching Case Ever.

Bowhunting Couple Charged in Nebraska’s Largest Poaching Case Ever.

bowmar hunting couple

https://gearjunkie.com/bowmars-poaching-case

The famous bowhunting couple will appear in federal court, where they face a laundry list of charges.

Josh and Sarah Bowmar are no strangers to the spotlight.

The Ohio couple is well-known for their collective bowhunting success, online videos, and physical fitness training programs.

But they’re now set to go to federal court. Together, they face charges that allege hunting turkeys without a valid permit, illegally transporting game across state lines, and illegal baiting of wildlife, among others.

Bowmar Charges

Among violations of numerous Nebraska state laws, the Bowmars are also charged with violating the federal Lacey Act through interstate commerce of wildlife.

Filed by United States Attorney Joseph P. Kelly in July, a 20-page indictment lists all charges. The document requests the forfeiture of three whitetail bucks killed in 2016 and 2017 by the couple, a compound bow, and monetary reparations equal to the value of the property involved. However, no amount is yet disclosed.

In a public statement, the Bowmars’ lawyer stated that the couple has pled not guilty and remains innocent until proven otherwise. They intend to fight the charges and go to a jury trial. The Bowmars’ case moves to a pretrial motion deadline on Nov. 2, 2020.

Hidden Hills Outfitters Sting

The case is part of a much larger sting involving Hidden Hills Outfitters (HHO) of Broken Bow, Nebraska. Co-owner and lead guide, Joshua Hueftle, received 30 months in federal prison and a $214,375 fine — restitution set to be paid to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. He also faces a 15-year ban from obtaining hunting licenses.

More than 30 defendants pled guilty in the case, resulting in more than $500,000 in fines and 53 years of revoked hunting and fishing privileges. In all, 97 animals were found to be taken illegally.

HHO also regularly killed non-game migratory birds, meaning birds like red-tailed hawks and American kestrels. The latter is a violation of the federal Migratory Bird Act.

Bowmars Under Scrutiny Once More

This is not the first time the Bowmars have found themselves facing public scrutiny.

In 2016, Josh Bowmar killed a black bear in Canada using a spear with a GoPro attached, causing an international backlash.

Although Bowmar wasn’t charged with wrongdoing at the time, Alberta subsequently changed its hunting laws to ban spears as a legal method of take in 2018 as a result of the outcry.

The penalty for hunting with a prohibited weapon in Alberta now comes with a maximum $50,000 fine and up to a year in jail.

Press propaganda made in Germany: “wolves kill sheep, spread fear”.

There are more and more: Wild wolves on the advance in Germany!

Bonn, Germany – Wolves continue to spread in Germany, as recent figures from the authorities show.

Wolves kill sheep and spread fear (!!!)

According to the latest official census, there are 128 wolf packs, 35 pairs, and 10 sedentary individual wolves in Germany – significantly more than a year earlier.

In the monitoring year 2019/20, wolves were detected in 15 of 16 federal states, as the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation announced on Friday.

Wolves live mainly in Brandenburg, Saxony, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony-Anhalt, and Lower Saxony.

But there are also territories in Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Schleswig-Holstein and Thuringia.

According to updated data, 105 packs, 41 pairs, and 12 individual wolves were detected in the 2018/19 monitoring year, the nature conservation authority announced.

“The wolf population in Germany is increasing,” said Beate Jessel, President of the Federal Office.

The wolf population has continued to increase, particularly in the north and northwest. For the first time in ten years, a sedentary wolf was confirmed in the Bavarian Alps.

126 wolves found dead

A fence delimits a sheep pasture on Burgdorfer Holz. Wildlife cameras have recorded at least eight wolf pups in the area northwest of Hanover.

47 wolf packs lived in Brandenburg in the monitoring year from May 1, 2019, to April 30, 2020, more than in any other German state.

In second place is Saxony with 28 packs and Lower Saxony with 23.

According to experts, it is difficult to say how many individual animals there are – a pack consists of a pair of parents and their offspring, and mortality is relatively high.

The number of wolves in a pack can therefore fluctuate widely, according to experts it is usually between five and ten animals.

The number of wolves found dead has also increased sharply – from 100 in 2018/19 to 126 in the most recent monitoring.

“After traffic accidents, illegal killing is the second leading cause of death,” said Jessel.

Of 126 animals found dead, 98 died in traffic, and 11 were killed illegally, and another 7 of the wolves that were involved in an accident were also shot illegally.

Wolves are strictly protected (!!!). They may be shot down if they kill sheep, for example, but each individual shot must first be approved.

Wolves have been back in Germany since the turn of the millennium. What makes conservationists happy, worries animal owners – the number of wolf cracks has also risen sharply in recent years (!!!).

In contrast, there is no confirmed wolf attack on humans.

And I mean…They all agree on lies, harm, and propaganda.
Hunter, farmer, politician, press…
The German press has become a hideous servant of German politics.
Hunters and farmers decide the life and death of the wolf, the politicians only approve.

The farmers complain when once a year the wolf takes its food from their herds.
The farmers will slaughter their animals anyway – more cruel and senseless than the wolf does.
And with every loss, the farmers get compensation.

The hunters, on the other hand, run to the aid of the farmers, animal killers always keep looking together.
And then we also have the press, which feeds and strengthens the hatred against these animals with dirty arguments.

Editor-in-chief of the New York Times, John Swinton, in 1880 stated:

“The business of us journalists is to destroy the truth, to lie freely, to falsify, to crawl at the feet of Mammon and our country and his Selling people for their daily bread … We are the tools and vassals of rich people behind the scene.

We are the puppets, they pull the strings and we dance.
There is not one of you who dares to express an honest opinion”.

This article proves Swinton’s opinion down to the last detail.

World Lemur Day

You can see one lemur spin his head in psychological distress while trapped in a cramped cage 😔
Zoos deprive lemurs of their freedom and sometimes even their families.

Never visit them!!

And I mean…It is collective nonsense to believe that zoos help protect species.
It is only prisons with live animals that parents visit with their children so that they learn that innocent and completely defenseless animals have to live in loneliness, suffering, and deprivation of liberty for a lifetime.

Zoos are commercially operated entertainment establishments that breed for their own display needs.
The zoos bring the argument about conservation, research, and education for children only to justify their existence

But as soon as children see that orangutans and monkeys live in the tropical rainforest at all and that almost exclusively high up in the trees where they build their nests, then they understand it has nothing to do with the animal that is apathetic in the zoo crouching behind a pane of glass on a bare concrete floor and bored to death.

A zoo is and remains an amusement for the visiting people. Nothing else.

Never visit a zoo! Never take your kids to the zoo!

Every documentary film conveys more knowledge and arouses more empathy than a visit to the zoo could ever do.

Italy: the mafia methods of hunters

Mafia methods: After we had one success after another in Italy this autumn, our opponents are now reaching into the bottom drawer of the bag of tricks: One of our employees received a threatening letter to his private address yesterday:
“Now we know where you live. It’s just a matter of time. You better bring your daughter to the grandparents ”.

Not that we’re particularly scared – it just shows once more what poachers are made of.

Komitee gegen den Vogelmord e.V.

And I mean…Whoever massacres defenseless animals uninhibitedly loses all sensitivity to his fellow human beings too.
The hunt leads to dehumanization.

Max Planck and Einstein thought hunters were psychopaths. When I read what methods they use to murder and intimidate, this opinion is confirmed.
Hunters have no task in nature, they do not belong to nature at all.

Hunters are pathetic monsters, who are allowed to continue to exist as such because our society tolerates them, covers them, or is indifferent to their crimes against the weaker.

Regards and good night, Venus

Ethical Vegans Must Reject Donald Trump. Period.

‘Our Compass’ Link as follows:

Note: Regarding Protect the Harvest’s ludicrous and deceptive claim of the nonexistence of factory farms, “family” has zero legal distinction regarding farm size; indeed, a “family” can refer to Kraft, Ford, Trump, Smithfield, and Walmart. The government defines size, and anyone with even a rudimentary understanding of Google can easily find this data. To suggest that the greater than 10 billion land animals killed annually in the US alone come from Uncle Ted’s backyard hinges on desperation to continue the animal holocaust unseen and socially accepted. SL

EPA:

USDA:

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines AFOs as agricultural enterprises where animals are kept and raised in confined situations. AFOs congregate animals, feed, manure and urine, dead animals, and production operations on a small land area. Feed is brought to the animals rather than the animals grazing or otherwise seeking feed in pastures, fields, or on rangeland. There are approximately 450,000 AFOs in the United States.

A CAFO is another EPA term for a large concentrated AFO.  A CAFO is an AFO with more than 1000 animal units (an animal unit is defined as an animal equivalent of 1000 pounds live weight and equates to 1000 head of beef cattle, 700 dairy cows, 2500 swine weighing more than 55 lbs, 125 thousand broiler chickens, or 82 thousand laying hens or pullets) confined on site for more than 45 days during the year.  Any size AFO that discharges manure or wastewater into a natural or man-made ditch, stream or other waterway is defined as a CAFO, regardless of size.  CAFOs are regulated by EPA under the Clean Water Act in both the 2003 and 2008 versions of the “CAFO” rule.

Ethical Vegans Must Reject Donald Trump. Period.

Source Free From Harm

Veganism, at its essence, is the recognition that all animals have the right to bodily integrity. Humans do not own the bodies, families or lives of other animals – we can be guardians to animals in need of rescue, but animals are never our property or commodities.

Donald Trump has demonstrated, over and over again, that he sees animals only as obstacles to be cleared or resources to be used to serve corporate interests and generate maximum profits.

But his actions don’t reveal a detached view of other species as objects or commodities so much as a seething contempt – for the natural world, for animals and for anyone trying to protect them.

Putting animal haters in charge

At every turn, Trump has placed people who actively oppose animal welfare, wildlife and environmental protection in leadership roles at the agencies responsible for carrying out those protections. Not surprisingly, this fox-guarding-the-hen-house strategy has resulted in dire consequences for animals and their habitat.

In 2016 he selected Brian Klippenstein, executive director of a particularly vile organization called Protect the Harvest, to serve as senior advisor to the USDA – the agency charged with safeguarding animals used in commerce.

Protect the Harvest exists to “save the agricultural industry from the growing threat of the radical animal rights movement” by lobbying against animal welfare legislation, supporting ag-gag bills and promoting animal commoditization in all forms – including circuses, rodeos, dog and horse racing, horse carriages, puppy mills and horse slaughter.

One of the group’s campaigns aims to soothe consumers’ growing concern regarding confined animal feeding operations by assuring the public that factory farming is just a “fictional concept created by activists.”

Next, Trump chose to appease animal agriculture and fossil fuel industry elites by putting climate change denier Scott Pruitt in charge of the Environmental Protection Agency – a move that led to the rollback of several critical climate and pollution regulations, along with the U.S. decision to withdraw from the Paris Agreement.

Pruitt, once honored with an award for his contribution to the success of the beef cattle industry, has described himself as a “leading advocate against the EPA’s activist agenda” and “a big fan of beef.”

Though he resigned in 2018 under the weight of numerous legal and ethics investigations, EPA leadership continues to prioritize industry demands over keeping the country’s air and water clean. In March the agency used the COVID-19 chaos as a cover to release polluting industries from monitoring and reporting requirements.

Perhaps the most stunning hire Trump made was William Perry Pendley, a former oil and gas attorney he installed to wreak havoc on the Bureau of Land Management. That’s the agency charged with conserving public lands – such as national parks – in 11 Western states and Alaska.

Pendley, who spent the bulk of his career lobbying for oil companies’ rights to drill in pristine wilderness, does not believe public lands should exist at all.

He has joked on video about illegally killing and burying endangered animals, and tweeted that climate change is like a unicorn because “neither exists.” He also has a grotesque obsession with eradicating wild horses and burros – insisting that they (rather than cattle grazing or resource extraction) represent an “existential threat” to public lands.

A judge recently ruled that Pendley’s service violates the Constitution because he was never confirmed by the Senate, but so far he has refused to leave his post.

Hunters aren’t just professional killers. They’re professional liars too

Our topic today: traps and hunters

Below are some of the hollow, de facto false arguments hunters make about traps when the public asks about it

1. Hunter’s statement: Traps are no longer allowed or used in Germany!
That’s not true!

Trapping is a completely common and widespread hunting method in Germany. However, it is hidden from the public by the hunters.

The trap is used in particular to track foxes, marten, and domestic cats. Many dogs also suffer cruel deaths in traps year after year.

2. Hunters’ statement: Only live traps are allowed in Germany.
That’s not true!

In Germany, manslaughter traps, which are supposed to kill immediately, and live traps in which the animal is caught, are allowed.

Homicide traps are supposed to kill immediately, but often don’t. Many animals die a slow and agonizing death in these traps.

Live traps: Live traps are mostly boxes made of wood or wire, into which an animal is lured using bait or fragrances, lures made by industry. According to studies, the animal panics when the trap closes – and is often seriously injured from desperate attempts to escape. Due to the panic fear of death, the animals are under high stress and often die of heart failure.

Others, severely injured, often lie hungry and thirsty for hours or days, tormented by cruel pain, and wait for death.

Although the law requires the traps to be checked once a day, it is reasonable to assume that this will not happen. If the traps e.g. are only checked every 2 – 3 days, this means that the animals caught in the so-called live traps slowly and painfully perish from injuries or stress.

3. Hunter’s statement: After being caught with a live trap, the animals are released back into the wild.
That’s not true!

Most of the animals are killed. The old wives’ tale of the release into the wild is told to the unsuspecting citizen in order to conceal the harsh reality in our forests. Animals caught in live traps by hunters are mostly killed. E.g. Foxes and cats.

“A powerful blow with the narrow side in the neck or over the muzzle does no less than a small-bore pistol – and works silently.” (quoted from K. Hutter, A loud word against the silent hunt)

4. Hunter statement: Traps are only somewhere in the deep, deep forest.
That’s not true!

Traps can be anywhere. They are often set up near high seats or even completely normal paths, from where they can be more easily controlled.
Gardens, allotment gardens, log piles, field trees, concrete pipes in the forest (e.g. under paths), field barns, piles of straw, piles of brushwood, and fences are popular trapping sites.

The trap is covered with brushwood, litter, etc. and thus hidden from the view of the walker.
From the magazine “Hunter” (quoted from Dag Frommhold): “The pulpit (raised stand) is ideal as a distraction. The hikers’ eyes are sure to wander up to her. The nest box that hangs on the tree nearby makes the visitor friendly. So we are happy when the eyes wander upwards – because our traps are below. “

5. Hunter’s statement: Traps only selectively catch a certain species of a wild animal.
That’s not true

Katze Totschlagfalle

Animals are lured into traps with attractants! Fox attractants often work on dogs as well. Of course, animals that are similar in size to e.g. have a fox go into the trap. Foxes have no closed season in Germany. It is just not allowed to shoot suckling birds (which is all too often disregarded). Exception: adult foxes have a closed season in Berlin (but not young foxes).

6. Hunters’ statement: Traps are only set by poachers!
That’s not true!

Trapping is a common hunting method used by hunters in Germany. Any hunter who has completed an approx. 15-hour trapping course and can then present a certificate of trapping qualifications is allowed to hunt with the trap.
