THE LINK: Animal Abuse and Violence/Murder of Humans

The link has been established many times, with serial killers especially, who started with animals in their youth, and later migrated to people. We, and others working on the “Cat Torture” issue have warned against the perpetrators in China and elsewhere (as this material is spread globally via Social Media) eventually performing that same migration. Obviously, that does not mean the animal abuse is negligible so long as it stays there. Far from it. On the contrary – as, it has been said many times before, that the more helpless a creature, and so a victim, is, the more deserving it is of compassion. There can be no more helpless party, in a human society, that largely denies them any rights and/or equal consideration in respect to freedom from pain and suffering, than an animal.

One such example, which I remember well – as I have seen the material (meaning: videos) at the time – concerning a now 42-year old native of Canada, is one “Luca Rocco Magnotta”.

(UK – Somerset) Investigation after dead cat found in bin bag

An owner reportedly left a heavily-pregnant cat to die in a bin bag, an animal rescue centre has said.

Bosses at Little Paws Rescue, based in Clevedon, North Somerset, said an investigation has been launched after one of the “most horrific” incidents they have had to deal with.

They were called on Sunday after a member of the public found the dead cat on a popular walking route, called the 100 steps, in Hanham, South Gloucestershire.

Imogen Scofield, from Little Paws Rescue, said “heartbreakingly” the calico cat tried to claw her way out of the bag and went into labour after being dumped.

But due to the circumstances, none of the kittens survived, the animal charity said.

Ms Scofield continued: “It is the most upsetting thing we’ve had to witness, this poor cat didn’t deserve to suffer like she did.

“There is help out there and they could have contacted a rescue [centre] like ourselves who would have helped.”

Ms Scofield also confirmed the charity is asking people who live near the 100 steps to bring forward any CCTV from Sunday.

“The authorities are involved too, but we will do all we can to find out who did this,” she added.

They Abandoned a Pregnant Cat in a Trash Bag. Then, She Went Into Labour.

A heart-wrenching and unimaginable act of cruelty has recently come to light in Hanham, South Gloucestershire. A heavily pregnant calico cat was abandoned in a plastic bin bag, left to die alone and in agony. Tragically, the cat went into labor before she passed, but none of her kittens survived. This poor animal suffered a horrific and unnecessary death – one that could have been easily avoided if the owner had sought the help and support that is readily available.

Sign this petition to urge local authorities to investigate this heartless act and to begin a public education campaign to inform the community about the options available to those with unwanted pets.

According to the organisation called to the scene, the cat attempted to claw her way out of the bag, desperate for life and a chance for her kittens. Sadly, her cries went unheard, and the kittens, who could have been saved, perished along with her.

This tragedy underscores the need for better public awareness. There are shelters and organizations that provide assistance to those in need, and no animal should ever suffer because of a lack of knowledge about these resources.

(KOSOVO) STRAY DOG CRISIS IN KOSOVO: LET’S SUPPORT OUR MEMBER LEAGUE “Stray Angels Kosova Foundation”

Despite government programs, in Kosovo, in cities like Prishtina, stray populations have remained unchanged. Our member league Stray Angels Kosova Foundation reported to us cases of disappearing sterilized dogs and suspected underground culling. They need sustainable and humane solutions to manage stray dogs. With our support they can provide for vaccinations, sterilizations and adoption initiatives.

WHAT ANIMAL RESCUERS DO IN KOSOVO

For years, independent rescuers and local groups have provided free services to their community, often lacking in funds themselves. Their initiatives include:

  1. Providing temporary shelter and medical care to vulnerable or injured animals.
  2. Facilitating adoptions and fostering: Coordinating with local fosters and adopters, completing vaccination and EU-required Titer tests, and organizing animal travel.
  3. Sterilizing and vaccinating dogs to prevent overpopulation and disease.
  4. Raising awareness: Educating communities about animal welfare, responsible pet ownership, and how to support stray dogs.
  5. De-escalating neighborhood complaints: Handling conflicts like threats to poison, relocate, or kill dogs.
  6. Supporting CNVR operations: Identifying pockets of unsterilized dogs and collaborating with veterinarians to address the issue.
  7. Establishing feeding points for sterilized strays as well as monitoring the health and situation of stray dogs, as well as their movements.

STRAY ANGELS KOSOVA FOUNDATION activities

Stray Angels Kosova’s mission is to empower animal welfare organizations, rescuers, and volunteers to care for and protect stray animals across Kosovo. Especially, they provide:

  • Medical treatment and rehabilitation for injured or ill dogs;
  • Sterilization and vaccination programs;
  • Fostering and adoption initiatives;
  • Education and advocacy campaigns for communities.

STRAY ANGELS KOSOVA FOUNDATION DREAMS

To make a lasting impact, Stray Angels Kosova aims to:

  • Establish stable funding for rescuers and Catch-Neuter-Vaccinate-Release (CNVR) programs;

 (Sth. Korea) Rescued from Abandoned Pet Shop in Suwon: Animals Starved for 2 Weeks!

In a harrowing incident in Suwon, South Korea, on December 23rd, CARE received an urgent tip about over 50 dogs and cats that had been abandoned in a closed pet shop for more than six months. These animals had been left to starve for two weeks, with no intervention from local authorities despite numerous complaints from residents. Upon arriving at the scene, CARE found 32 cats and 10 dogs, severely malnourished and covered in feces, barely clinging to life. The heartbreaking sight of the animals, some of them so emaciated their bones protruded, underscored the urgent need for action. The shop owner, currently imprisoned for fraud, had abandoned the animals, and the local government failed to take immediate steps to rescue them.

After a tense standoff and following public pressure, all 42 animals were finally rescued by CARE. However, the journey doesn’t end there. Many of the animals are still receiving medical treatment, and the costs for their recovery are significant. Despite the rescue’s success, the failure of local authorities to act sooner serves as a stark reminder of the gaps in animal welfare enforcement.

This tragic event calls for immediate action to hold those responsible accountable. We demand that the City of Suwon launch a comprehensive investigation into the mishandling of this case, enforce stronger animal welfare regulations, and ensure such neglect never happens again.
