Trophy Hunt: an industry of psychopaths

Ebay4

The demand for hunting trips is high. This year, even the hunt for a polar bear was offered by the Safari Club International in Las Vegas for a price of 72 000 US $.

Many animals are threatened with extinction. Nevertheless, they are killed out of sheer lust for murder. But these people are willing to pay a lot of money. The more threatening a species is, the more expensive it is the launch.

Even in the EU, the hunting lobby seems to have a mighty power, because the trophy hunt is even supported by the EU.
Botswana has been under pressure from the EU to lift the hunting ban. Botswana gained a notorious fame when Juan Carlos, who was WWF Honorary President and King of Spain at the time, broke his hip while hunting elephants. And so it became known that he “rang” the population density of African elephants also through safari !!
In November 2016, Chekedi Khama, Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment of Botswana, said his country was under unprecedented pressure from the pro-hunting lobby.

The EU and regional neighbors call for the lifting of the hunting ban, which was imposed in 2014.

Those who do not want to bid on Ebay can find out about trophy hunting from January 30 to February 4, 2018 at Europe’s largest hunting fair – HUNTING & DOG (JAGD & HUND). Elephant and rhino hunting was even offered at the last fair. Around 80,000 visitors and 800 companies from 41 nations participated in 2018. And the assumption is obvious that prominent hunters prevent the prohibition of hunting trophies.

Eisbären-Jagd aud E bayThere are also auctions where you can bid on hunts on polar bears – as you can see in the screenshot above.

The WWF claims that sustainable trophy hunting can be an effective conservation tool (!!!). The German Hunting Association (DJV) welcomed these position of the Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF) for hunting abroad.

Did you know that the European Parliament voted in favor of legal and sustainable trophy hunting despite protests from within its own ranks?
“The absolute ban on trophy hunting imposed by some members of parliament could be averted”, said Karl-Heinz Florenz (Germany), MEP,  in Hunter magazine.

So there is the Safari Club International in German!!. Here the hunting enthusiasts meet regularly for a regular’s table in Munich. By now you should be aware of why the EU does not want to ban the trophy trade.

Also in Germany you pay gladly for a shoot of a polar bear 40 000 Euro. Paradoxically, the ice bar is the hallmark of climate change!

In the following video, you can see an emaciated polar bear fighting desperately for survival.
His white coat covers the bony body.
He pulls a hind leg behind him. In search of food, the polar bear digs with his last strength in a nearby garbage bin, which is used by Inuit fishermen.
He finds nothing and falls resignedly back to the ground.

Did you know that Canada is forbidden to feed polar bears, but Canada is the only country where you can hunt polar bears?

The hunts take place in the areas of various Inuit communities, in the east as well as in the central Arctic region.

My comment: How sick does one have to be as a trophy hunter in order to “pose” next to the animal carcasses and to take pictures with the smile of a senile?
Or is there anything more awful than hanging heads from the sneaky-shot carcasses into the living room to show the world what a nasty, cowardly scum he is?

People who kill animals for fun are deranged. In today’s society, those who feel nothing about killing are seriously ill. This is confirmed by common sense.

This trophy hunting industry is the godchild of corrupt politicians, especially EU politicians. This industry is a corrupt business that also ruins an entire nation, if its society accepts the business because it has no civil courage to organize its forces against criminals.

Proj coy action alert

Dear Mark,

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has issued a proposed rule to strip Endangered Species Act (ESA) protections for gray wolves in the lower 48 states – a premature decision unsupported by science that will further threaten an already imperiled species. Federal protections for gray wolves brought the species back from the brink of extinction following decades of persecution. This rash decision to delist wolves from the list of endangered and threatened wildlife would allow states to open killing seasons on wolves, permitting special interest trophy hunters and trappers to senselessly kill wolves before the species has made a full recovery. As demonstrated in Idaho where wolves have already been stripped of federal ESA protections, once delisting occurs the species is open to a variety of killing activities – including predator derbies, contests and tournaments where those who kill the most or largest wolves are awarded prizes. This is after the federal government spent millions of taxpayer dollars reintroducing wolves into Yellowstone National Park after their populations were decimated from unlimited killing!

Talking Points

Your comments can simply state: “I am in opposition to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service’s proposed rule to remove Endangered Species Act protections for gray wolves in the lower 48 states. I urge you to reconsider this proposed rule and to instead develop a national wolf recovery plan for wolves that reflects their intrinsic value and the myriad ecological, aesthetic, and economic benefits the species provides to our communities and ecosystems.”

For maximum impact, however, we encourage you to personalize your comments. Here are some talking points you may consider incorporating:

  • Continuing Endangered Species Act protections for wolves is necessary for the species to fully recover. Federal protections saved gray wolves from extinction following decades of persecution – and the species is still recovering, currently occupying only a fraction of their historic range.
  • The proposed rule would transfer authority over wolves to state wildlife management agencies, which historically have shown little interest in preserving or restoring wolves. These state agencies have catered to special interest groups who seek to kill wolves for trophies or entertainment, or on the misguided belief that killing wolves protects livestock or increases deer and elk populations.
  • Wolves are vital to healthy ecosystems. Benefits wolves provide include increasing biodiversity by keeping large herbivores such as deer from overgrazing habitats and maintaining the health of prey animals such as deer by culling the sick members from the heard, including animals suffering from Chronic Wasting Disease.
  • The best available, peer-reviewed science demonstrates that killing wolves will not protect livestock or increase populations of game species like deer or elk. Wildlife management decisions should be based on ethics and sound science, not fear and misunderstandings.
  • The vast majority of Americans are wildlife watchers who prefer to view wolves in their natural habitat – preserved and treated with respect. Allowing wolves to return to their historic range and thrive will provide far more benefits to our economy than allowing a tiny minority of the population to extirpate these iconic animals from our landscape.

Thank you for acting TODAY to protect wolves from extinction!

USA: Waste of Space Gutless Trophy Hunter Guy Gorney of Illinois Shoots a SLEEPING Lion – and Claims He Did It To ‘Save Zebras’ !

USA-Flagge

The video of Gorney, a retired energy company executive, is believed to have been recorded in Zimbabwe in 2011

Guy Gorney, 64, of Manhattan, Illinois, is identified as the hunter in a shocking video who killed a sleeping lion

Gomey shot the lion whilst it was asleep; waking after the first shot and then taking another 2 shots from his gun before it was killed.

He made the pathetic excuse for killing the lion to ‘save about 70 zebras a year’.

He admitted that his hunting is mainly for the ‘thrill of the kill’. He really likes hunting elephants.

Gomey has admitted killing over 70 big game animals including elephant, lions, leopard, rhino and buffalo.

'Beautiful,' the guide says, as the video shows a closeup of the lifeless animal's face

Here is the gutless coward and the house that he lives in:

Guy Gorney, 64, of Manhattan, Illinois, is identified as the hunter in a shocking video who killed a sleeping lion. He refused to comment on his kill to DailyMail.com at his doorstep

This is the half-million-dollar Illinois home where Gorney was approached by DailyMail.com but  he refused comment, saying 'I'm not interested in talking to you. Private property. Take off!'

Pictures of him on some of his other trophy hunt trips:

In a 2015 interview, Gorney addressed violent reactions to trophy hunting by pointing out he can defend himself. Gorney is pictured with a hippopotamus that he killed

In the interview from 2015 with CBS, Gorney showed no remorse for his 'hunting' habit, which at that time included killing 70 big game animals, such as elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and buffalo. Gorney is pictured with a rhino that he killed

'The "why" is just the – I call it the adventure of it. Same reason Teddy Roosevelt did it,' Gorney said. 'I really like hunting elephants. They’re difficult to track down. They’re incredibly dangerous. The first elephant I got, I walked over 120 miles tracking elephants before I actually caught up to him and found him'

The hunter also appears to enjoy searching for prey - including moose and bear - closer to home, in North America, as well as the African bush where he bagged a sleeping lion

Malta: the mafia of the bird catchers!

Maltapg

In Malta the bird catching is a popular sport.  Unlike in most other fishing areas in the Mediterranean, however, the captured songbirds do not end up in the pan, but end up as pets in the living rooms of supposed “bird lovers”.
In Malta’s capital, Valletta, a large bird market takes place every Sunday, which is even mentioned in the guidebooks as a tourist attraction.

Bird trapping was permitted until Malta’s accession to the EU in 2004.

With Malta’s accession to the European Union in 2004, the end of legal songbird catching should be heralded. The accession treaty stipulated that first of all the annual fishing time would be shortened, and on 31.12.2008 bird catching was finally banned.
In fact, the bird catchers had to shut down their nets for a few years, until the fall of 2014.

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat decided to allow bird trapping between mid-October and the end of December. The Social Democrat, who came to power in 2013, had promised support to the hunting lobby during the election campaign.

In addition, the government gave in to the massive pressure of the birdcatcher lobby and again allowed the bird catch against EU law.

stieglitz
Since then thousands of finches may be caught legally for several weeks in late autumn! In 2015, for example, 12,000 linnets, 800 goldfinches, 4,500 greenfinches, 2,350 siskins, 500 hawfinches, 5,000 chaffinches and 2,350 female carps were released.

girlitz-christoph-moning

It is to be feared that far more animals will be caught and illegally sold on the black market.

But that’s not enough for the Maltese bird catchers. Many have gone underground and have specialized in new prey: that is mainly waders.

Fangnetzt aus der LuftpgCatch net from the air

With gigantic catches of more than 5,000 square feet and electronic decoys, woodcocks, sandpipers, alpine, dwarf and Temminck sandpipers are now being caught in dozens of places on the island. Many animals end up as “living collectibles” in aviaries, others in the pan.

Lockvögeljpg

The Committee Against Bird Slaughter uses specialized teams against this new form of environmental crime to find traps and collect evidence for the police. Every year we are attacked by more than a dozen poachers.

Update.

Maltese birdcatchers involved: In a special operation this week, three committee teams have observed 9 active traps with huge nets from different observation points off the coast west of Mtahleb. The birdcatchers had equipped the illegal facilities with live decoys and electronic baits to catch protected liners.

The police contacted by us appeared with two patrols, which unfortunately had a hard time on the ground to convict the poachers. At the end of a police operation lasting several hours, the officers had arrested only three poachers, not all nets and decoys could be secured, several bird trappers escaped.

The committee against the bird murder published today a press release to the disappointing yield and a video (see above).

http://www.komitee.de/en/actions-and-projects/malta/weak-enforcement-lets-poachers-keep-trapping-birds

My comment: Malta is the last EU Member State to allow bird hunting in the spring. The European Court of Justice had condemned the country in 2009 for hunting prohibited under EU law. However, every year Malta receives an exemption allowing the shooting of 11,000 lovebirds and 5,000 quails within a two-week period.

Again and again, however, the permissible quotas of a maximum of four animals per hunter are exceeded and also protected bird species such as storks or sailor birds are killed.

Of course everything is caught and shot there, not just what the odds give.
Malta is the most hunted region in the world. There are about 10,000 hunters and 6,000 trappers. Almost every adult man is a “hunter” licensed to kill birds. Many also keep hunting dogs. These are, when they are older and no longer agile enough, simply “disposed of”! Anyone wandering the island in the fall meets men with shouldered rifles at every turn or hears shots from close range.

Apparently, apart from the tourist season, the hunters have no other useful occupation than shooting birds like amok runners.

Why should the hunters of Malta be an exception and not behave like professional killers or psychopaths?

My best regards, Venus

It’s time to END trophy hunting.

Killing animals for pleasure is cruel, unnecessary, and has no place in a civilised society.

Humans have no right to take the life of an animal for recreation. Animals experience suffering and pain when they are hunted for trophies. Killing endangered wildlife for pleasure only helps push them even further towards extinction.

do something

The Campaign to Ban Trophy Hunting calls for:

  1. Governments to ban trophy hunting and the import and export of hunting trophies
  2. Effective enforcement of existing national and international laws against trophy hunting, with tough penalties for offenders
  3. An immediate halt to the trade in trophies of vulnerable, threatened or endangered species
  4. Trophy hunting exemptions to be removed from existing international conservation agreements
  5. Negotiations to commence on a comprehensive global agreement banning trophy hunting

Governments and hunters: a brotherhood

Australia

After years of drought and recent bush fires, conditions have never been more dire for native waterbirds. Rather than follow the advice of expert scientists, Premier Dan Andrews instead has again allowed another duck shooting season to go ahead this year — albeit a shortened one, with restrictions on how many ducks can be shot.

erschossenen Ente in Australien_n

But that didn’t help this beautiful Caspian Stern. So clearly not a ‘game bird’ but shot in the head and left to rot by shooters anyway.

This happened at one of 1000 locations where shooting can take place. Our friends at the Coalition Against Duck Shooting do their best to monitor wetlands, because they know — as does Premier Andrews — that enforcement of laws is impossible during duck shooting season. He knows that even when legal complaints are made, prosecutions rarely follow.

And yet he continues to defend this blood sport as ‘safe, humane and sustainable'(!)

erschossenene Ente Australia_n

Is it ‘safe’ to allow access to those wielding shotguns, who think it’s fun to slaughter defenseless wildlife, into 1000 mostly unmonitored locations across the state?

Is it ‘humane’ to allow waterbirds to be sprayed with shotgun pellets?

Entenj Jagd in Australien jpg

For these terrified and wounded animals to be pursued through the water, and then swung around by their necks until they die?

Is it ‘sustainable’ to allow hundreds of thousands of native waterbirds that are already struggling to survive, that are not breeding, that are in decline, to be blasted out of the sky for fun? The only way to protect our precious native waterbirds, is to ban this brutality permanently. Speak up here www.AnimalsAus.org/tx7

My comment: The hunters have a strong lobby, not in the population, but in the government of their country.
We are rather governed by the lobbyists, is there an area that has not been lobby contaminated? As a voter, you can vote for all holy times, but the rest of the time the lobbyists say so.

PETITION TARGET: U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service

In a proposal that could spell disaster for America’s fragile gray wolf populations, the Department of the Interior has announced plans to delist the majestic animals from the Endangered Species Act (ESA).

If approved, wolves would be managed state by state, putting them in danger and at the mercy of trophy hunters.

In the Great Lakes region, gray wolves were delisted from 2011 to 2014. During those few years, nearly 1,500 wolves were murdered, often in horrific ways: mutilated in cable-neck snares and steel-jawed leg-hold traps, or hunted and ripped apart by hounds.

In Idaho and Montana, where wolves are not protected, more than 3,200 have been slaughtered in the last eight years.

Gray wolves have been protected by the ESA for more than 40 years. During that time, their numbers have increased to an estimated 5,600. But environmentalists and animal advocates state they are still at great risk, and removing their protections would be disastrous.

Hunting not only impacts the total numbers of wolves but also the structure of each pack and genetic diversity of the species.

In some areas, wolf populations have just started to recover, and the species is only present in five percent of their historic range.

Stripping protections from one of the United State’s most iconic species would be a national tragedy, and is nothing more than a free pass for hunters.

Sign the petition urging the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to keep wolves on the endangered species list, preventing the wholesale slaughter of these iconic animals.

The industry of bad fairy tales

Romania

The second largest bear population on the European continent (after Russia) lives in the Romanian forests.
It is estimated that this is about 6,000 brown bears, but a scientifically sound census of the brown bear population has not yet taken place.

braunbären-jagdquote-rumänien-bärenschuss-
Nevertheless, since July 2018, the hunt for bears is again permitted, and approved by the government. The previous months had been preceded by media reports of increasing bear attacks on people, settlements and farm animals in some regions of Romania. The World Animal Society criticizes this decision: Instead of releasing the brown bears for shooting, must be set at the true causes of human-bear conflicts.

Brown Bear Hunt – Status Quo

Between 1989 and 2016, several hundred brown bears per year were killed in Romania – plus a high level of unreported killings by poachers. Strong public protest eventually led to the fact that in October 2016, the Romanian Ministry of the Environment suspended the hunting rate for brown bears.

braunbär-jagdquote-rumänien-schutz-

Since then, the media have been reporting an increasing number of attacks from bears to humans. A Romanian local politician argues for Harghita County – located in the northeast of the Transylvania region – to double bear attacks on people, settlements and farm animals to a total of 263 cases within one year!!.

As a primary solution, the Romanian government now plans to launch the brown bears and in July 2018 recognized the brown bear hunt as a permissible measure by approving the National Action Plan. How, when and where this should be implemented is not clear from the National Action Plan. But how is that to be rated from an animal welfare point of view?

Conflicts between man and bear

First of all, it must be stated: Humans do not belong in the prey scheme of a bear. However, when animals approach human settlements, or bears in the wild feel threatened by humans or want to protect their young, conflicts can occasionally occur. The main cause of bear attacks is the man-made habitat loss of the bear.

Bär mit Jungenpg

Habitat loss of the bears

Brown bears are increasingly losing their natural habitat and shelter in Romania. Infrastructural measures, such as road construction, dismantle the habitats populated by bears. On the other hand, illegal exploitation of Romanian forests, such as forest clearing and building permits in national parks, destroys the livelihood of the bears. For example, the Austrian timber company Schweighofer was heavily criticized in 2015 for systematically selling illegally harvested timber for years;
Sanctions and fines for illegal logging were either reduced or abolished by the Romanian government.

The brown bears are consequently expelled from their territories and have to look for other food sources. As a result, the bear continues to advance into areas inhabited by humans, farmers fear for their animals, and refuse bins on the outskirts of villages, which are located near the forest areas, also attract foraging bears.

The resulting conflicts are used as a pretext to justify the shooting or capture of the animals, rather than to address the causes of habitat loss.

The brown bears have been read from their territories and have looked at other sources of food. As a result, the bear continues to fear for their animals, and refuse bins on the outskirts of villages, which are located near the forest areas, so attract foraging bears.

Waldzerstörung in RumänienpgFelling in the Romanian Apuseni Nature Park (archive image, “Spiegel”)

According to a report by “Spiegel” from 16.12.2017 ( http://www.spiegel.de/wirtschaft/soziales/rumaenien-holzt-seine-waelder-ab-holzmafia-nutzt-gesetzesluecken-a-1180739.html ) in recent months, primeval forests in protected national parks have been destroyed several times through utilization, forest clearance and illegal building permits.

Estimation instead of counting the brown bear population

Another reason for the hunt is stated that the domestic forest of its size exclusively provides habitat for 4,000 brown bears.
However, a comprehensive, official bear count has not been used to capture the actual size of the brown bear population.
Instead, the number of 6,000 brown bears is based solely on the estimates of hunting associations. In the past, the regional hunting associations received a launch rate, which was then sold through auctions to private hunting companies worldwide (!!!).
These in turn allowed trophy hunters from all over the world – including Germany – to shoot down bears in Romania.

Should a hunting quota be set by the Romanian Ministry of the Environment in the future, many foreign hunters will return to Romania to hunt for brown bears, probably also many trophy hunters from Germany.

https://welttierschutz.org/rumaenische-regierung-legitimiert-baerenabschuss/

My Comment: When it comes to legalizing the killing of wildlife, the media deliberately confuses effect with cause. Wrong numbers, panic machismo and horror scenarios reach the public.

For many years, the forest in Romania has been ruthlessly cut down. Not only from the indigenous wood mafia, but also from other wood -mafia countries of Europe ( see above the report about the Austrian Holz Mafia “Schweighofer”).

The wooden mafia cleverly exploits leeway and gaps in the law, and corrupt politicians and government officials are covering it. So more and more forest is disappearing and the habitat of the bears and many other animals as well.

Brown_Bears_pg

And as soon as the animals are forced to search for food in residential areas, the machinery of death begins for them:
the hunters demand higher firing quota, the government approves it because it brings, as hunting trophies, the hunting associations the most money. And every government in this world works hand in hand with hunters.  The main thing is that our European parliamentarians  just keep their butts on the chair and they do not want to do anything about environmental crimes or control the protection of endangered wildlife.

Result of the story: the “problem” with the bears in Romania, and not only there, is a man-made problem.

In the comments, I read that the Germans are angry with the “corrupt” Romania, because the government has approved the official launch.

Yes , Yes…
… and we shoot the newly arrived wolves out of panic … because they could be dangerous in our walk in the woods!! Other countries need to protect the wildlife, while we’ve flattened everything that lives in the forest here.

My best regards, Venus

China Proposes Ban on Pangolins in Traditional Medicine.

WAV Comment – Great News – good on the People’s National Congress.  we are sure that Chinese citizens will find medicinal alternatives to Pangolins without the need for animal and environmental destruction.  We are certain that alternatives already exist for bear bile products.  It just needs people to wake up and seek out cruelty free alternatives.  Photos below are not associated with the article.

China Proposes Ban on Pangolins in Traditional Medicine

Members of the National People’s Congress, China’s legislature, announced a proposal to ban the use of pangolin products, the world’s most trafficked animal, in traditional Chinese medicine.

The Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong (DAB), a pro-Beijing conservative political party, released a series of 24 proposals for this year to be presented at the annual NPC sessions in March, which included the pangolin ban.

In addition to outright banning the use of those animals in traditional medicine, lawmakers are advocating for increasing “investment in the research and development of pangolin tablets substitutes” and “promoting the protection of pangolin resources.”

“The position taken by China’s lawmakers proposing a ban on the use of pangolins in TCM is an encouraging sign,” said Chris Hamley, Senior Pangolin Campaigner for the Environmental Investigation Agency, a UK-based NGO.

Image result for pangolin

Pangolins, often referred to as “the scaly anteater,” are the only mammals entirely covered in scales. All eight species of pangolin—four are found in Africa and four in Asia—were granted protection under international law in early 2017, according to WildAid, a US-based environmental NGO.

2015 report by WildAid found that 70 percent of Chinese citizens surveyed believed pangolin scales could cure rheumatism, skin disorders and infections. They are also thought to cure cancer and arthritis.

China currently permits the legal use of pangolin scales in clinical treatment and in pharmaceutical manufacturing, and they are listed as an official drug in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia, according to WildAid.

Image result for pangolin

The new proposal could have a significant impact on the fate of pangolins, 100,000 of whom are taken from the wild every year across Africa and Asia.

Early last month, authorities in the Malaysian province of Sabah discovered two high-volume facilities containing thousands of boxes of pangolin meat, the biggest such seizure in the country to date.

Also included in the 2019 proposals were a number of other pieces of environmental legislation: strengthening the fight against illegal fishing; banning the trade and use of rhinoceros and its products; improving the system of protected natural lands; and the “protect[ion] [of] animals to promote environmental protection.”

Orangutan Baby Trade: An ex-smuggler reports!

urangutang baby_o

“Every time the mother was on a tree, we felled that tree, and when she jumped on another tree, we also felled that tree. We cut down the trees until they can not go anywhere else. Tens of thousands of dollars are paid to buyers from Asia and the Middle East for an orangutan baby”.

A former orangutan smuggler now working as an informer tells how babies are torn by their mothers. At least three orangutan babies are to be taken out of the jungle every week and transported mainly through Thailand to third countries, especially in the Middle East, where owning an exotic rainforest animal is a great status symbol. Demand is always there, and what these babies experience is cruel.

Affenshow

The illegal trade in monkeys is a billion dollar business. Orangutan – they are hunted, even prostituted and brutally executed, or they kill their mothers and smuggle the babies to Thailand, as in a recent case. Orangutans, which only live in the wild on the islands of Borneo and Sumatra, suffer from the illegal trade. There are even orangutan brothels, we reported: https://serbiananimalsvoice.com/2018/05/20/the-monkeys-brothels-of-indonesia/

Three alleged Indonesian traders were arrested by customs officials on the Malaysian holiday island of Langkawi in late September 2018 in an attempt to transport small orangutans and other animals to Thailand. It was not the first time this year that smugglers were caught trying to cross Orang Utan across the border.

Journalists from Australia have gone in search of clues and found an informant who had also worked as a smuggler for orangutans. Reliable sources told Australian journalists that the police know who the perpetrators are, where they live, and there is evidence, but no arrests were made.

The informant reports how gangs steal baby orangutans to sell them as pets or status symbols, almost completely eradicating an endangered species.

Blöde Touristen mit Orangutanspg

The informant also said that smugglers often use commercial flights and paid corrupt officials – information from other sources confirms that.

“The demand is always there, they always want orangutans,” said the former smuggler.
“Every week, I’ve got at least three orangutans and given them to two women and one man. This demand was there every week. ”
A hunter receives about $ 50 to take a baby away from his mother, who is usually shot or beaten to death. He talked about how the babies are hidden in their luggage and how they got hugs as a substitute for their mothers’ pillow.

The former smuggler claimed that a recent brutal murder had persuaded him to stop trading orangutans.

“I looked at myself and I imagined that it would have happened to me to be separated from my child,” he said

“After swearing an oath, I felt I had dealt with people.”

“When I see baby orangutans now, I think about my baby.”

In a police raid in Bangkok, two Sumatran baby orangutans were saved and they made headlines just before Christmas 2016, when Nobita and Shizuka found themselves in a box in a taxi. They were probably drugged after their mothers were shot or beaten.

The two orangutan babies Nobita and Shizuka, who were found in the taxi, are in a state rescue center south of Bangkok a year later, far from their jungle. The taxi driver was arrested but quickly released. Nobody was punished.

It is a well-lubricated, well-organized criminal gang. Behind her stands the “Mafia,” said Edwin Wiek, founder of the Wildlife Friends Foundation in Thailand.

Wiek operates several conservation projects and programs throughout Southeast Asia. The native Dutchman is a pioneer in the protection of wild animals.

The return of babies to Sumatra is his ultimate goal, but the rehabilitation of orangutans is laborious and costly. Even if they are released into the wilderness one day, he worries about their fate.

“Unfortunately, we have recently found that some of the orangutans returned to Indonesia from illegal captivity have landed in a zoo in Indonesia, where they are bred without any system, for commercial purposes only,” he said.

“These government officials in Indonesia know very well what is going on,” said Wiek. “They know who the hunters are, they know who the traders are, and without the help of the authorities, they would not take these animals out of the country.”

My comment: World trade in wildlife is evolving as the world of drug trafficking. Where they have money, they are covert … the profits are so high and the risks are so low that this business is an invitation to corruption!

The misery of our world arises from the corrupt oligarchy of the rulers, and the next misery is a discouraged, wordless and cowardly society with indifference and zero empathy, which only observes how the ruling mafia gradually obliterates all life.

And this society is the one that always wants to say us, that humans are more important than animals, it wants to tell us how we have to behave and that we cannot save this world because it is as it is.

My best regards, Venus
