Rescue of heart-broken dog dying alone in sewage

We got a call on our helpline that a dog was lying in sewage water and that he couldn’t move. Our rescuers found a skeletal dog with flies swarming around his eyes, disoriented and very near dying. We didn’t have any information about what had caused him to be so close to death, so we rushed to stabilize him and hoped that he would recover, believing we were giving comfort and a last chance to a dog who very likely would not survive. But Shyam was determined and showed us that he was not ready to go!

Car accident victim learns to walk again

After being hit by a car, this little sweetheart collapsed in a factory, and might never have walked again but for receiving weeks of hydrotherapy, and massage. The pain caused him to take tender little footsteps with an arched back and stressed brow. But this little wonder of a puppy came oh so good–and his sunny disposition forged his name in all our hearts: Sunny.

Calf slowly choking from embedded rope rescued

We found beautiful little Jimmy with a rope tied around his neck cutting into his flesh and as he grew, he was slowly choking to death. Born in a Dairy, he was abandoned because he was a boy who could not be used for milk.  Neighbors didn’t see that the rope was buried in his skin until the wound became huge. After 6 weeks of daily treatment, Jimmy nestled into the warmth of the other cows and the people who cared for him.

Starving street puppy’s beautiful transformation

Buttons is his name–because his eyes are like black buttons and they are almost the only way you’ll be able to see that the frolicking lad at the end of this video is the same shattered little someone when he was found laying in factory trash. Rescues like his make us realize how much energy and life stir within the profoundly emaciated frames of some of the animals most devastated by the curable condition of mange. Let’s keep curing it.

Dog found unconscious in a field makes beautiful recovery We got a call that someone had found a dog collapsed unconscious in a field. Half of her face lay in a shallow pool of water and we could not awaken her. We hurried her back to Animal Aid’s hospital and found that she had most likely suffered trauma to her head. She showed all the signs of a brain injury. It took several hours for her to gain consciousness, but even after waking up she was unable to walk. Throughout the weeks that followed, she won our hearts with her trusting eyes and the brave efforts she made–a little more each day, to stand, to walk, to give and to receive love. Gradually, we could see changes taking place in her abilities. Donkey found hiding in shed with rope severing his leg We found a frightened donkey hiding in a shed with a horrific injury on his leg caused by a rope that had been tied around his leg for many weeks. The tight rope had caused a deep wound that was severely infected, necrotic and infested with maggots and was so painful he couldn’t bear any weight on the injured leg at all. We could see how scared he was standing in the shed, but his eyes met his rescuers with incredible trust. We feared we wouldn’t be able to save his mangled leg, but after several weeks of treatment, this gentle boy started to recover… Please donate to save injured animals in India.

 

Baby goat drowning in well reunited with her mama

We got a call that a baby goat had fallen in a well and was quickly losing her strength. We found her barely paddling and struggling to breathe. After rescuing her from the well we were so relieved to find that despite being exhausted and traumatized from nearly drowning, she was fine. More than anything, this beautiful girl wanted to be back by her mama’s side. Watch the reunion.

Collapsed lung and head injury, train accident victim’s amazing recovery.

We found him next to the tracks, his nose split in two, breathing with great difficulty and very disoriented. When we brought him back to Animal Aid’s hospital, our vet found that he had a collapsed lung which is a very life-threatening condition. We had to place a tube in his chest to allow his lung to expand and function normally again, suture his badly injured nose and upper lip and stabilize him with fluids and other medications. With so many life-threatening conditions, we were so worried that we may not be able to save him despite our best efforts. But this brave young boy had an amazing spirit and triumphed against all odds.

A few days ago, we got a call from a friend who told us he saw a people friendly adult tortie cat in front of the Secondary Medical School in Subotica. A custodian told us that the kitty was left there by an elderly woman and a little girl. They had even been coming to feed her for a short time, but then they stopped. The kitty was sleeping under a tree, near a busy road and she frequently had to flee because of roaming dogs. When we went to the spot to get her, she came up to us all by herself, meowing loudly and asking to be petted. She tested negative for FIV/FeLV and was spayed immediately. She had some difficulties waking up from the general anesthesia, but she began to eat later on. After the procedure, she was able to be brought to the shelter the next day. Will somebody please help us with the costs of her spay surgery and the test for FIV/FeLV? We know we didn’t have to take her in, not with so many new cats already, but she was so cuddly and sweet that we simply couldn’t leave her to a most certainly short and suffering future. We’ve decided to name this charming and sadly unwanted girl Zoe. She’ll now be well cared for, loved and fed with no more worries thanks to our caring supporters that make our work possible.
