souls of the world…

this photo must make you feel something…

..the species doesn’t matter, I look at her and know how she feels.
This is called empathy”.

They have NOT chosen their role in this world, let alone been repudiated by so many individuals.

But they are beings of the world, like all of us, and have the right to life, freedom, and protection of their existence
Don’t be racist and protect all living beings

Togo: UPDATE – Live transport: the Elbeik vessel is on the move but with no clear direction

Togo: ‘Elbeik’ Livestock Ship Now Heading for Greece, Not Spain According to Information. – World Animals Voice

Live transport: the Elbeik vessel is on the move but with no clear direction

3/2/2021

Animals onboard the vessels, after nearly three months, are still waiting to be checked by a vet, rested and relieved from their suffering.

Back in December 2020 the Elbeik left Spain to reach Tripoli, (Libya) where the bovines were rejected due to bluetongue disease suspects. It moved around the Meditterean and some animals were offloaded.

After being stationed there for some time, the Elbeik left Famagusta (Northern Cyprus) heading to Cartagena.

Nearly three months after their journey started, the animals on board were supposed to go back to Spain to be killed, similarly to what is happening to the ones onboard the Karim Allah, expected to be killed in the next couple of days.

Yesterday Elbeik stopped near Kaloi Limenes (Crete). Eurogroup for Animals and its members are following the situation closely: Compassion In World Farming is in contact with the Greek Ministry, hoping to get veterinarian authorities on board, if the vessel docks at the port, and check the animals’ condition.

The stop in Greece was meant to provide more food and straw for the animals, however, according to our member Animal Welfare Foundation, the vessel’s Master is also trying to delay the return to Cartagena, in order to find another buyer and transport the bovines to a third country.

This, regardless of the animal welfare status which is very likely to have been seriously compromised. Indeed, Animal Welfare Foundation got confirmation that there are already more than 50 dead animals on board.

USA: Investigation Into ‘Harris Beef’ By DxE.

Hi Mark,

We just released a new investigation into Harris Beef, the slaughterhouse used by Harris Ranch, which is the largest cow feedlot on the West Coast. Harris claims their slaughter facilities were designed to be humane with curving chutes so the cows can’t see the danger ahead. But DxE’s hidden camera footage is showing the world the truth: terrified cows trying to escape from the slaughter line before they are systematically killed and butchered.

And the cruelty is growing. The Harris slaughterhouse is currently constructing several new buildings to expand its operations and increase its death toll. This is why we need a moratorium on factory farms and slaughterhouses right away.

Watch and share the breaking exposé on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or YouTube.

DxE launched the No More Factory Farms campaign to combat the expansion of animal agriculture in California. We’re exposing the biggest animal abusers, mobilizing people throughout the state to take bold action, and creating the momentum for a moratorium that prohibits the construction or expansion of factory farms and slaughterhouses – first in California and then beyond.

DxE is funded entirely by people like you. And for the next 48 hours, all new $20+ monthly donors will receive a No More Factory Farms shirt as a thank you gift. Show your support for this campaign by becoming a monthly donor today.

South Korea: Largest Known Dog Meat Auction Facility In the Country Is Now Closed for Good – Result !

In a win for dogs suffering in S. Korea’s brutal meat trade, Nakwon Auction House the largest known dog meat auction in the country — is CLOSED FOR GOOD.

The closure follows Lady Freethinker’s undercover investigation and petition — covered by People Magazine — and local campaigning by partners Save Korean Dogs.

This victory is only possible because of YOU. Thank you for speaking out to save these dogs from slaughter, and supporting LFT’s fight against the cruel dog meat trade.

Hundreds of dogs will no longer spend their days in tiny, filthy wire cages in this house of horrors while waiting, terrified, to be sold to dog butchers.

We thank the more than 46,000 supporters who signed LFT’s petition demanding this horrifying, illegal auction be put out of business!

Undercover video released by LFT captured more than 200 terrified dogs in cramped wire cages at the Nakwon Auction House in S. Korea in Oct. 2020.

The footage sparked public outrage, a call to demolish the auction house, and evidence the local government needed to shut down the illegal sales.

The city of Namyangju announced recently that the auction house is closed, the dogs are removed, and the owner was fined heavily and warned by authorities to stop his operations or risk more fines.

This is an important victory, and we couldn’t have done it without your support! But our work is far from over. Dogs continue to die every day for the horrific dog meat trade — and we won’t stop until every dog is safe.

Togo: ‘Elbeik’ Livestock Ship Now Heading for Greece, Not Spain According to Information.

ELBEIK photo

4/3/21 – From info we have this morning, the ‘Elbeik’ livestock ship is now on its way to Piraeus in Greece; scheduled to arrive the re in the afternoon 0f 5/3/21.

We are getting news that Spain (Cartagena port) has refused to take the Elbeik; and that this was its intended destination.

It will be interesting to see, given all the circumstances about this vessel and its animals cargo; if Pireus will allow it to dock.

The Port of Piraeus is the chief sea port of Athens, Greece, located on the Saronic Gulf on the western coasts of the Aegean Sea, the largest port in Greece

This is the only information we currently have on this at present.  We will publish any updates accordingly.

India: cockfight ends fatally- for the cock owner!

In India, a man was killed by his fighting cock.
The 45-year-old was holding the animal in his arms shortly before an illegal cockfight when the bird began to squirm, as the newspaper “India Today” reports.

The man had already tied blades to the claws of his rooster to make it more dangerous to the opposing bird.
But that was his own undoing: The rooster caught the man with the sharp, seven-centimeter-long blade in the groin area.

Gamecock’s owner bled to death on the way to the hospital!!

The incident occurred on February 22nd in the center of the country in Jagital (around 1,400 kilometers south of New Delhi).
According to the current status of the investigation, the rooster is said to have tried to tear itself away.

An approximately three-inch blade is tied to the cocks leg so that they fatally injure the enemy bird. The people around bet on the outcome of the fight.
While trying to break free, the rooster stabbed its owner in the groin with the blade.
Part of the main artery also runs there.

When his owner tried to recapture him, he was fatally wounded.
The 45-year-old started bleeding so badly that he couldn’t even make it to the hospital.
He died of massive blood loss on the way to the clinic.

The rooster, which apparently had no desire to fight with a conspecific, was caught and is now in police custody.
Not because it is to be tried, but because it is an important piece of evidence in the investigation into the death of its owner.
Hahn is now guarded by the police

According to theNew Indian Express”, the fighting cock stayed at the local police station for a day, then was taken to a nearby chicken farm.
An officer was posted to check that the feathered witness was being treated well.
The rooster is to be guarded until the procedure is completed.

The police are now investigating 15 suspects who are said to have organized or participated in the illegal cockfight.
They now face charges of negligent homicide, illegal betting, and illegal cockfighting.
Such events are actually forbidden in India.
In rural areas, however, it happens again and again that this is violated.

And I mean…Yes!! And that’s not a Hollywood invention, it is reality!

Usually, it is planned that the roosters die brutally and in rows during cockfights, this time a slave owner was caught.
A curious situation that happened there…

Many would speak of karma.
But actually, this is called an occupational risk.

Whatever- that brings us in a good mood!

My best regards to all, Venus

Japan: Season Ends for Taiji’s Dolphin Drive Hunts.

See pictures and more at:

Website – https://www.dolphinproject.com/

Dolphin Project can confirm that on March 1, Taiji’s dolphin drive hunts ended for the 2020/21 season. During the entire six-month long hunting season, our collaboration with Life Investigation Agency (LIA), headed up by campaign director Ren Yabuki, ensured that an all-Japanese team was on the ground each day to document the drives and other events that took place. Never before has an all-Japanese team of dedicated activists taken up residence in Taiji, solely to document from a Japanese perspective, the suffering of dolphins that takes place annually at the Cove. As such, our educational outreach throughout Japan has never been greater.

This season, there were a total of 46 red coves (where dolphins were either slaughtered or taken captive) and 135 blue coves (where no dolphins were slaughtered or taken captive) involving six species of dolphins. We estimate 547 dolphins were slaughtered, while 140 were taken captive. Many more may have died as a result of the drives themselves, their numbers never recorded.

Dolphins, including the very young and the very old, were routinely subjected to harassment, suffering and abuse, slaughtered for their meat or taken captive to be exploited in marine parks and aquariums. Entire pods of dolphins were decimated. Several incidental deaths also took place, but thanks to the tireless documentation of the team, we were able to record the hunters’ shameless actions.

Over and over, once driven into the Cove, the team documented the prolonged suffering of dolphins. Even before the mammals are netted into the shallow water, the drives themselves often leave the pod exhausted, with visible injuries. Dolphin trainers work closely alongside dolphin hunters, choosing which mammals will be selected for “life” in captivity, and which will be slaughtered. Marine parks and aquariums often use the terms “conservation” and “education” when describing their captive dolphin displays. The reality however, lies in the bloody waters of this tiny Japanese town: demand for captive entertainment is what fuels Taiji’s drive hunts. Captive dolphin displays, including swim-with-dolphins programs aren’t educational, nor are they entertaining. They are exploitative, and often responsible for the destruction of entire wild dolphin pods.

In three separate incidences, the team also documented whales caught in the offshore fishing nets (called “set nets”). While one whale, a humpback, was released, a minke whale was deliberately drowned after being trapped for 19 days. A third whale, another humpback, was found dead. This isn’t the first time we have seen whales entangled in the sets nets off Taiji, but the number of incidences involving non-targeted species is alarming.

On a positive note, almost four years and ten months after I was deported from Japan, the decision of the Tokyo High Court to revoke the deportation order by the Ministry of Justice is now effective. In a judgement for the case of O’Barry versus Japan, the court ruled in my favor, citing that both my denial of entry (dated January 20, 2016) and deportation (dated February 5, 2016) were without legal merit. The Japanese government attempted to appeal this decision, however, the Supreme Court did not accept the appeal. When it is safe to do so, I am looking forward to visiting Japan.

Compared to the 2019/20 dolphin hunting season, while we cannot know the reason for the decrease in numbers, 37 fewer dolphins were taken captive. Thus, it’s imperative that we continue to keep the pressure on by educating the world why we need to say NO to the dolphin show.

Dolphin Project and Life Investigation Agency are grateful to each of you who lent your voices in support. While the drive season has “technically” ended, permits to hunt pilot whales are valid for several more months.

We hope you will continue to stand by Dolphin Project’s side as we continue our work across the globe, from the United States to the Solomon Islands and to Indonesia, where three dolphins are currently rehabilitating at the Umah Lumba Center in Banyuwedang Bay, West Bali, the first ever permanent dolphin rehabilitation, release and retirement facility for captive dolphins.

All of our groundbreaking work is made possible because of your generous support. Thank you for being a dolphin defender!
