THIS below is the sick moment a dad and son high-five after slaying a defenceless bear and cubs as they hibernate in their den.
The footage which captured the illegal killing on Esther Island, in the Gulf of Alaska, comes from a camera which had been set up to study the animals.

In January, the father and son were brought to court and sentenced for killing the bears, and then lying to officials after they found out the bear was collared.
They both pleaded guilty to multiple misdemeanour counts including the illegal killing of the bears.
Andrew was sentenced to five months in jail with two months suspended, a fine of $20,000 (£15,300).
Owen was sentenced to suspended jail time and community service.
Both had their hunting licenses revoked, Andrew for 10 years, and Owen’s for two years.
WAV Comment: They must be real men – they shoot animals ! – or should that be ‘try to look tough real assholes’ ?
Picture the iconic, snowy landscape of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge … without polar bears.
It’s an unsettling thought. But as the Trump administration barrels closer to tearing open the Arctic Refuge to invasive oil and gas exploration, it could become reality sooner than we think.
Rapidly melting sea ice from climate change is already forcing more pregnant polar bears to move off the ice to den in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. But if their dens are overrun with 90,000-pound “thumper” trucks and oil drilling rigs, these majestic bears will be left with nowhere to nurse and protect their cubs. And we’re running out of time to save them.
Polar bears need us to protect their habitat and save them from extinction. And as a scientist in the Marine Mammal Protection Project and Oceans Division at NRDC, I can tell you that we need them, too. Polar bears are one of our best barometers for understanding our overheating planet.
That’s because their Arctic home is warming twice as fast as the planet’s average … melting sea ice, softening the land, and threatening Alaska’s fragile ecosystems.
Mark, we’re up against an administration that flat-out denies the dangers of our warming planet — and moreover, an industry that sees melting sea ice as an opportunity to expand offshore drilling to the Arctic Ocean’s Beaufort and Chukchi Seas.
If the Trump administration succeeds in auctioning off Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil and gas companies like ConocoPhillips or ExxonMobil, it will drive even faster global warming. And the polar bears? Tractors and massive thumper trucks will swarm the land, threatening their denning grounds and their cubs, making it even harder for them to survive.
That’s why NRDC is battling in court to block the Trump Administration from starting oil and gas leasing in the Beaufort Sea, which sits right off the coast of the Arctic Refuge. We also sued the administration to stop Big Oil from raiding the Western Arctic — and we’re preparing to jump into action the moment the Interior Department moves to begin leasing the Arctic Refuge.
For everyone that joins with a monthly gift before the deadline, a donor will kick in an extra $75 to NRDC to help power our fight to protect the Arctic Refuge and our environment.
Stand with us right now — on the right side of history — as we face one of the biggest environmental battles of our lifetimes. If we’re going to win this fight, we need as much help as we can possibly get.
PETITION TARGET: Senator Henry Stern, Chair of the California Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Water
Babies torn from their mothers, trapped in cramped, dirty cages, and tortured to perform tricks out of fear. This is the reality of the cruel circus industry — and every day, animals are suffering for this so-called “entertainment.”
These animals deserve better.
And a new bill proposed in California could help save them from the cruelty.
Authored by State Senator Ben Hueso (D-San Diego), SB-313would ban the use of elephants, tigers, lions and other exotic animals in any traveling act performing in the state. If passed, the bill would spare animals from abuse and show that we are no longer willing to tolerate cruelty for human amusement.
These animals may be whipped until they bleed, choked with tight collars, and forced to jump through rings of fire that leave horrific burns on their bodies. They are left physically, mentally, and emotionally scarred. The abuse has to stop.
SIGN NOW
The bill is scheduled for a hearing with the California Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Water on April 9, 2019.
No animal should suffer at the hands of humans for any reason – least of all for our entertainment.
Sign this petition urging Senator Henry Stern, Chair of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Water, to work to pass this bill, and help bring an end to animal exploitation everywhere.
Quite rightly, the (UK) BBC has a reputation the world over for producing some amazing wildlife programmes. We would like to share some of them with you.
‘Blue Planet’ is the latest series on UK television; some amazing footage from all over the globe.
Just when we thought we had seen everything, all kinds and models of human stupidity and human nonsense about the abuse of animals, another horrible practice appears. And leaves us speechless, alone because one with the carcass of a murdered animal over the shoulder can walk around undisturbed. And because it is legal.
These two-legged species we must call a filthy sack, witch has the psychopathological symptom of the Thanatophilia!
This is the time of year once again when Canadians will start smashing in the heads of young seal pups.
Does Canada not realise that it is hated the world over for allowing this hunt to take place each year ?
Why does the World hate me ? – says the animal abuser
Why does the World hate me ? – says the animal abuser
Below are a few facts and links which we hope will give you more information on what is going on. Like all hunters, the Canadian government is supporting those which murder seals – ‘they take our fish’ – OUR fish ?? – or do they mean beings of the sea which are taken as a food source by other animals of the sea ?
It is illegal in Canada to hunt newborn harp seals (whitecoats) and young hooded seals (bluebacks). When the seal pups begin to molt their downy white fur at the age of 12–14 days, they are called “ragged-jacket” and can be commercially hunted.
Hunters in Canada target harp seal pups because of their soft fur. But law prohibits hunters from killing pups that have yet to grow out of their white coat, like this baby’s. Harp seals aren’t endangered, but melting ice because of climate change is killing pups.
In recent years, hundreds of thousands of seals have been killed annually in the commercial seal hunt. More than one million seals have been slaughtered in the past five years alone. These kill levels are among the highest witnessed in Canada in half a century.
In March of 1976, he and Paul Watson (now Sea Shepherd) stood on the heaving ice floes off the coast of Labrador as a large sealing ship bore down on them.
As the vessel bore down on them and the ice cracked and split beneath their feet, I (Paul) said to Bob,
“when it splits, I’ll jump to the left and you to the right.”
Bob looked straight ahead and calmly said, “I’m not going anywhere.”
We decided after reading recent hit reports from other activists that it was time we did something about it as well.
The game farm at ‘Chilmark Common’is just south of the village of Chilmark. We found 8 very large pens each pen had approximately 400-600 birds, totaling somewhere between 3,200-4,800!
These breeding birds would have gone on to produce tens of thousands of offspring that would have been reared in factory farm conditions, to be put into pheasant pens in the late summer then shot.By releasing the breeding birds now, we hope that far fewer birds will go on to be shot this Winter.
We removed fence panels from the end of each pen, then walked through the pen and hearded the pheasants out, closing the pen behind us after each one so that they didn’t run back in.
It was an incredible sensation to be amongst all these birds, who were making their first flights without bashing into a net. We hope they find peace in the surrounding woods.
My comment: Growing pheasants in large farms (factory farming, like any other) is only for sale to hunters at certain times. These hunters, who are mostly rich or even aristocrats, have large hunting grounds, where pheasants (and other breeding birds) are kept to be shot down.
In order to make it easy prey later and to avoid injuries due to the density in factory farming, the beak tips are tilted or the animals get grotesque masks, view barrier in front of the eyes or beak barrier.

It is a feudal hunting practice and a very expensive business. For the breeders, for the area owner, and for the psychopaths, who pay dearly to shoot the animals.
In this case: not only animals are liberated here, but a business of about half a million Euros has certainly been destroyed.
A recent article in the Independent revealed that a UK retailer is selling a coat made from killing and skinning 100 hamsters and we all often see hats with real fox fur pompoms and coats with collars made with coyote fur. All of these animals, slaughtered cruelly for fashion.
As the law stands, imports of fur are legal. The law must change. The import and sale of fur is allowed even though the main ways fur is obtained, including fur farming, are banned in Britain.
Killing animals just for their fur is cruel and barbaric, and we must stop funding it by banning imports of real fur immediately.
Fur import bans have been successfully implemented elsewhere. There is a EU-wide ban on the import of domestic cat and dog fur and California is considering a ban on the sale of real fur.
The UK should take a lead and become the first country in the world to ban fur imports.
That’s why we’ve teamed up with change.org to launch this petition as part of our new Fur-Free UK campaign.
Using the hashtag #FFUK , we’re telling the fur trade what we really think about their barbaric industry.
Please sign our petition to help end this senseless cruelty to animals.
Breaking News
Seoul to offer subsidized insurance for stray dog adoptions
Seoul Metropolitan City, the capital of South Korea, where quarter of Korean citizens reside is now taking action to improve animal welfare and reduce pet abandonment.
The Korea Times reported on March 19, 2019, “Starting late March, Seoul residents who adopt stray dogs from shelters can enroll in a city-subsidized insurance plan regardless of the dog’s age, breed and medical history, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced.“
This is proof that our campaigns work. We need the city of Seoul and all of South Korea to stop consuming dog meat. So let’s keep up the pressure by taking action! Thank you.
We are putting out this appeal for Animals Asia; as I (Mark) have a real problem with bear bile farming – I want to do all I can to stop it asap with your help.
“Over my dead body will you get the rest of those bears…”
…that’s what the bile farmer said.
Authorities were forcing him to give us two of the eight bears on his ‘farm’.
Of course, he chose the weakest, sickest bears. The ones whose emaciated little bodies he’d plundered almost to death… Myrtle (pictured) and Amelia.
By 2022, bear bile farming will be illegal in Vietnam. No loopholes. No exceptions.
Now the race to save the last bile bears in Vietnam has begun. It’s why I’m turning to you today…
Because ‘bile bears’ like Myrtle are in more grave danger than ever.
Today you can help ensure that as many of Vietnam’s last bile bears make it out of this dirty trade with their precious lives as possible.
Will you join the fight to save Vietnam’s
last bile bears with a donation today?
Please, give now. Before it’s too late for even one more bear.
Too weak to eat. A single claw remained on her right paw, she was the long-ago victim of a bone-crushing snare.
But nothing… not even the agony of steel on bone and nursing her raw stump alone…
Nothing could have prepared gentle Myrtle for the torture she suffered since the moment they captured her.
Only with your generous love and gifts of hope could we take Myrtle away that day. Without you, who knows what could have happened to her…
Because somefarmers could try to kill and sell their bears before they can be rescued.
Paws,
teeth,
claws,
gall bladder,
and bones…
all can be harvested to sell on the black market.
Half of bile farmers have admitted doing it. They see this blood money as compensation for their soon-to-be ‘worthless’ bears.
Because when our emergency response team receives a call about a bear, or two, or ten, in urgent need… we must act fast.
Your gift could fund the urgent rescue missions to help save as many of Vietnam’s last bile bears as possible.
Your cherished gift could fund the trucks to rush survivors to safety…
or the urgent pain relief these battered bears desperately need…
or the fresh food and water after a lifetime of eating grey sludge…
or our amazing team who undertake these difficult, urgent rescues…
…No bear left behind.
Please donate what you can today.
The coming months and years will be filled with uncertainty, as we try to save Vietnam’s last bile bears. But one thing I do know for certain is this…
Your dedication and love for these magical animals has already saved the sweet lives of Myrtle, Amelia, and hundreds more beautiful bears.
No bear should die alone. Unnamed and unloved. And if your gift today saves even one more gentle bile bear, yours will be a blessing like nothing they’ve ever known before…Just ask our little Myrtle.
Please give today and help save Vietnam’s last bile bears, before it’s too late.
With the very warmest bear hugs of hope,
Jill Robinson MBE, Dr med vet hc, Hon LLD
Founder and CEO
PS I promised the rest of the bears we would be back for them. And you made that promise come true. Because every rescue starts with you.
As Vietnam’s bear bile industry collapses, we cannot allow the very victims of this disgusting trade to be the victims of its downfall too. Please, donate now and help save the last bile bears in Vietnam. Thank you so much for caring.
WAV Comment –

Thank you so very much for your recent donation.
Without you, gentle souls like Myrtle would have no hope. But today, Myrtle, who lost a paw in the bile-wars, is surrounded by love and joy. Her gentle brown eyes, once filled with such fear and sorrow, today twinkle like stars… all because of you.
To bears like Myrtle, your kind gift brings salvation. Sanctuary. Everything.
