Britain Set to Outlaw Import of Cruel Hunting “Trophies”

Condemning the hunting of endangered animals as “morally indefensible,” the UK Government has announced it will set out new rules to protect animal welfare, claiming: “There is no place in this country for animal cruelty.”

The government has pledged to significantly strengthen wild animal protections by holding a consultation to prohibit the import and export of trophy hunting souvenirs gained from the vile slaughter of endangered animals.

The move could help save thousands of endangered species globally – including lions, tigers, elephants and rhinos – from being killed for “sport” by ruthless trophy hunters.

Animal rights advocate and recently appointed Minister for International Wildlife, Zac Goldsmith, announced the good news ahead of the Conservative Party Conference on 29 September.

“The fight against trophy hunting of endangered animals matters,” said Goldsmith. “It is clear that it is morally indefensible and that is why I am delighted that the Conservative Government will consult on a ban on the import of these trophies. By placing a higher value on animals alive rather than dead, we will begin to turn back the tide of extinction.”

Goldsmith’s appointment by Prime Minister Boris Johnson marked a significant step forward for animal rights in the UK. Johnson’s partner Carrie Symonds has long campaigned against trophy hunting, and Johnson himself recently tweeted: “We must end this barbaric practice.”

It is anticipated that the ban will be passed by parliament following the consultation and will come into effect as either primary or secondary legislation. The new rules will relate to animals listed on the Cites Appendix I and II lists, and on the I UCN list.

This is a very welcome move, especially considering that over the past ten years, 2,242 body parts taken from murdered animals – 15% of which were endangered – have been imported into the UK.

Other measures announced by the Government include looking at prohibiting the importation of exotic animal rugs and furs, a total ban on keeping primates as pets and ending all live exports for slaughter.

France: mass murder of larks!

france-flag

New “committee” video about the larks hunting in France: The hunt for larks and lovebirds is in full swing. Despite declining stocks across Europe, France, Spain and Italy have once again released millions of larks and lovebirds for hunting this month.

gefangener Vogel
That is why today the “Committee against Bird Murder” has submitted a comprehensive environmental complaint to the European Commission. The shooting of these species on the train is not sustainable and accelerates the decline of breeding birds in Germany and elsewhere.

-vogelmord
The hunting laws of France, Spain and Italy therefore violate the EU Birds Directive. Our complaint is based on recent studies showing both the massive decline of these species in Germany and the United Kingdom and the official firing of around 900,000 larks and 1.5 million lovebirds per year in the Mediterranean.

vogelfang-

On the French Atlantic coast skylarks may additionally be caught with huge nets. A video released by the committee today shows for the first time how skylarks are captured by French hunters and then killed. The footage is already several years old, but has been withheld by us for legal reasons so far. The documented fishing method is still common practice today.

As bait live decoys serve. The specially caught larks are tethered at their feet and connected with a long cord to the bird catcher, who sits in a hut on the edge of the plant. When birds approach the nets, the bird catcher pulls on the cords and the tailed animals start to flutter excitedly. The catcher imitates the air call of the larks with a whistle and can thus lure a whole swarm into ruin.

When enough birds have gathered, the bird catcher triggers a mechanism and the several hundred square meters of nets collapse over them. It is allowed in two departments each bird catcher to set up to 300 catching cages for larks.

Officially, more than 3,000 birdcatchers are allowed to catch larks, the rate differs depending on the department and is in the Gironde, for example, at 336 larks per catcher per year. A total of 1 million skylarks may be caught, but in truth there are probably a few hundred more!

My comment: Crimes against animals have become more professional.
Mafia methods everywhere.
It continues to be hunted, murdered, tortured.

All these crimes are partially ignored, tacitly condoned or made possible on corrupt hunting lobbyists in politics.

In addition, they are made possible by a perpetrator friendly judiciary and an indifferent society, which does not want to openly condemn these crimes, and sells its cowardice as “tolerance”.

It`s time to hunt the Hunters

Badger baiters jailed after BBC undercover investigation

Four men convicted of badger baiting following an undercover investigation by BBC Wales have been jailed.

Christian Latcham, 32, from Porth, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Thomas Young, 26, from Newbridge, Caerphilly, Cyle Jones, 31 and Jamie Rush, 27, both from Brecon, Powys, were all found guilty at Cardiff Crown Court.

They denied attempting to kill or take badgers in Pembrokeshire in March 2018.

But their actions were uncovered by the BBC Wales Investigates programme.

The four defendants were handed the following sentences on Thursday:

  • Latcham has been sentenced to 26 weeks
  • Jones has been sentenced to 22 weeks
  • Rush has been sentenced to 22 weeks
  • Young has been sentenced to 20 weeks in custody, suspended for 12 months. He will be subject to a curfew between 21:00-06:00 for 12 weeks

When Jones was taken away, someone in the public gallery shouted “keep your head up love”, he was previously jailed in June for 18 weeks after admitting unnecessary cruelty to animals, relating to two dogs who were injured.

The latest prosecution followed investigations by the RSPCA after the programme was shown.

The trial was told it was accepted the four defendants had not caught a badger at Llanddewi Velfrey on 24 March.

badger artwork

But prosecutor Jon Tarrant said: “There is ample evidence here that they were attempting to take a badger.”

The prosecution said the defendants were “on the chase” when a badger was spotted in woodland near Narbeth.

The court heard the group pursued it, dug a large hole to try and catch it, but ultimately failed to corner the animal.

District Judge Neil Thomas said it had been a “strong prosecution case”.

He said a BBC researcher who gave evidence against the four men was “a clear, confident and compelling witness”.

The judge said he did not believe the only defendant to give evidence, Jamie Rush.

He said: “I have no difficulty coming to the unreserved conclusion, that he was not telling the truth.”

The court heard the previous convictions of the four defendants – Latcham has 12 previous convictions for 24 offences, including for causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.

Jones has 13 previous convictions for 18 offences, including animal cruelty, while Rush has eight previous convictions for nine offences and has previously been sentenced to two years in prison, and Young also has previous animal cruelty convictions.

Germany: new execution methods for wild boar

In order to prevent the spread of swine fever in Germany (where so far not a single case has been reported), sow bottom-catches are tested in Lower Saxony!

deutsche Flagge mit Bananen jpg

In certain counties in Lower Saxony, the Lower Saxony Ministry of Agriculture has new execution methods, the so-called “sow bottom-catches” set up. These are about 20 square meters of fishing enclosures, in which entire pig herds can be trapped and killed. The ministry considers this more effective than individual shootings. This should not only be allowed if the virus is detected, but also for prevention (!!!)

Umstrittene Wildschweinfalle

There, the hunters lay out food for the wild boars until they go into the cage with the whole group. Then the flap closes and the aktion ends in a masacre. This should not only be allowed if the virus is detected, but also for prevention (!!!).

“The hunt in bottom traps usually ends in a masacre, says the Chairman of the Animal Welfare Association of Lower Saxony Dieter Ruhnke. In escape attempts, the pigs injured each other. In order to meet them more purpose, hunters need an “extensive shooting training” that they have not received, criticized Ruhnke, who considers the increased hunting for fear of African swine anyway absolutely absurd.

druckjagd wildschweinejpg

He rejects the regulation as well as the preventive use of traps. All this serves only to protect the meat industry.

African swine fever is a disease affecting both wild and domestic swine. It is harmless to humans, as is the consumption of infected pork.

It spreads through blood and blood-containing tissue. For example, if a hunter shoots an infected boar, has blood on his shoe and then goes to his pigsty, he can lure the virus in. The same applies to a carelessly thrown sausage bread, which is eaten by a boar. Very slow, however, is the spread of wild boar to wild boar.

Wildschweine

The disease almost always ends in death for the animals. For pig farmers, the outbreak of the virus in their own barn represents a major economic loss.  Although they are well compensated for it. From the EU fund, that means with our money.

Farmer slaughter their pigs anyway, that is, they do not care whether the animals are slashed open in the slaughterhouse or die from African plague.
Only .. in the second case they can not make a profit.

schweine bildjpg

The Vice President of the German Farmers’ Association, Werner Schwarz (who operates a pig mast himself), has given us a “clear explanation” to why in the “Land of Meat Mafia” (Germany) hunters and their policy accomplices invest so much imagination, money and effort in preventative murder methods for something that has not even claimed a sacrifice in their own stables:

“The economic and social impact of an outbreak of African swine fever is hard to imagine.
Already the appearance in the boar population would mean that pork can no longer be exported to third countries, ie to countries outside the EU “!

And if we translate that into mathematical numbers, then 600,000 wild boars should be killed (with premiums of 25 euros per boar), so that about 60,000,000 pigs (so many are slaughtered per year in Germany) can be slaughtered.

Now we have understand.
Madness up two.

My best regards to all, Venus

Italy: a tragedy that was not one

italiapg

Today I read the following message on news portal t-online: Tragic accident in Italy: man shoots his own father in boar hunting!!

Jäger im Hochsitz

Fatal accident in Italy: In the hunt for a wild boar, a 34-year-old accidentally shot his father in the stomach. The man died at the scene of the accident.

Cover_Haderer

A son in Italy shot his father hunting wild boar. The 34-year-old man is accused of negligent homicide, reported Italian news agencies, citing the investigative authorities. The two men were on the weekend in southern Sicignano degli Alburni at Salerno on the hunt.

The 55-year-old father was in the line of fire of his son. The son confused his father, who had rustled in bushes, with a wild boar. The shot had hit the father in the stomach, the man had died on the spot. Both were said to have been traveling in an area where the hunt is actually prohibited, it said in the reports.

wildschweinjagdjpg

Again and again it comes in Italy to fatal accidents in the hunt. The Animal Welfare Officer and former Tourism Minister Michela Vittoria Brambilla called for an “end to the Wild West in the woods and in the fields”.

https://www.t-online.de/nachrichten/panorama/id_86500070/tragischer-unfall-in-italien-mann-erschiesst-eigenen-vater-bei-wildschwein-jagd.html

And I mean…Of course, any accident involving human victims in hunting is called a tragedy.
And if the hunter had shot the boar?
And if the animal also had a family, a mother, or a fatter, or children?
That would not be a tragedy, that would be hunting!
Such messages are always portrayed in such a way that a philanthropic pity should arise. Automatically.
And those who do not feel pity for these murderers, when they fall victim to it themselves and out of their own guilt, are degraded to being a misanthrope.
Also automatically.
The moral education of our society forbids a just moral analogy between human and animal species.

Alone the wording of the message: “tragedy in Italy” is already propaganda against animals.

Tanzania / USA: Under Trump, the U.S. Department of the Interior Reversed a Ban on Elephant-Trophy Imports.

Tanz

Hi Mark,

A threatened lion in Tanzania was gunned down for sport — and now the killer will be bringing the body home to hang on his wall.

This is the first trophy-import permit for a Tanzanian lion issued since these majestic cats were protected under the Endangered Species Act. And it could kick the door wide open for elephants, lions and more species to be shot in Tanzania so their bodies can be dragged back to the States.

We must put an end to this kind of behaviour before it spreads. Please give now to support our fight to save lions and other endangered species.

Despite Trump calling trophy hunting a “horror show,” his administration has repeatedly gone out of its way to clear the path for overseas slaughter of threatened species.

trump hunt cartoon1

First the U.S. Department of the Interior reversed a ban on elephant-trophy imports from Zimbabwe. Then it created a council riddled with conflicts of interest and packed with Safari Club members and NRA bigwigs to “advise” on trophy-hunting decisions.

And now we’re seeing the results: the first permit for a Tanzanian lion being issued to a Florida-based hunter. It’s no coincidence this lion killer’s legal representative sits on Interior’s sham, pro-trophy-hunting council.

This permit bodes ill for wildlife in Tanzania, home to roughly 40 percent of Africa’s lions and up to half of the elephants in eastern Africa. The administration could greenlight more lion, and maybe even elephant, trophy imports.

trump feb 2

Trophy hunting of the world’s threatened species must be stopped.

We’re in the courts fighting the administration’s pro-trophy agenda. And we’re rallying our members to push Congress to use its legislative powers to abolish the pro-trophy hunting council and force these import decisions into the public eye.

It’s past time to put an end to the fat-cat privilege of gunning down the Earth’s magnificent, rare wildlife for the sake of an ego boost.

Please give now to support our fight to stop trophy-hunt imports.

Lebanon: with mafia methods against migratory birds

libanon-flagge-jpg

Report from “Committee against the bird murder e.V”.

War against train birds in Lebanon: In the first days of the large committee bird protection camp in Lebanon, our teams have already observed hundreds of hunters who, without regard to and in violation of the hunting law, have attacked everything within reach of their guns.

tote Zugvögel-Libanon jpg

Not far from the city of Danniyeh in the north of the “Cedar State”, a committee team witnessed a true migratory bird massacre: Hunters had set up electronic decoys with goat-song singing during the night and shot at the birds with the help of giant spotlights.

Hundreds of shots were fired without the police intervening. As dawn set in, we inspected the area and found dozens of dead birds – especially goat’s milkweed, scops owls and a short-toed eagle (see current photos).

erschossener Adler-Libanon jpg

One of the owls was still alive, but died shortly thereafter of their serious injuries. The committee and its partners SPNL have today called on the government to significantly expand its efforts against poaching to tackle this ecological catastrophe!

erschoßene Eule-Libanonpg

My comment: Every year tens of millions of migratory birds are killed.
In Lebanon, in Cyprus, in Malta … Exhausted from the journey that lies behind them, the birds there look for a shelter to rest. The murders exploit this moment and shoot the animals up close. The result: Every year environmental activists read about 25 million empty cartridge cases.

German companies earn money with weapons and ammunition beautiful with.

Machismo culture plays an important role in poaching: men proudly pose in photographs with their trophies taken. The bigger the better. Many upload the pictures on social networks.

hunting-in-lebanon

These crimes continue to take place with the help of an offender-friendly system and of course of a society that claims to be “tolerant”, which is nothing but cowardice openly to condemning these crimes.

My best regards, Venus
