Florida authorities have arrested nine people accused of running a sickening operation that had black bears chased, tortured and killed by packs of hunting dogs throughout various counties in the state.

Footage shared on social media reveals the depth of torture experienced by the bears, with one heartbreaking video showing a terrified, exhausted black bear attempting to escape up a tree before falling to the ground and being mauled to death by at least a dozen frenzied dogs.

Bears as young as one week old were savaged in these brutal attacks, the majestic animals so overwhelmed by the sheer number of dogs they were unable to fight back.

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi says their investigation found that two bears died as a direct result of the baiting and hunting, but authorities suspect many more were killed over the last year.

The nearly year-long investigation discovered the group using buckets of peanut butter, dog food, and stolen donuts to bait the bears before ordering the dogs to attack the helpless animals. Many of the incidents were filmed and used as “advertising” to sell hunting dogs. Florida county authorities have confiscated 53 dogs used in the operation.

It is illegal to hunt bears in Florida, and the perpetrators have been charged with felonies and misdemeanors including animal cruelty, illegally baiting and taking black bears, and RICO violations. Each person accused may face at least 30 years in prison.

Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi and local authorities should be commended for taking this case seriously so far and working to shut down the operation. Sign this petition encouraging her to see this case through to justice, and push for a lifelong ban on the hunting or keeping of any animal for all found guilty.

The UK is fairly well known for its opposition to hunting.

But on Boxing Day each year, December 26^th; hunts across the country meet and parade themselves through towns and villages.  This is perfectly legal; but they are always met by hunts sabs and the general public who oppose hunting.

26/12/18 was no exception; with clashes between hunt supporters and ‘antis’ taking place all over the country.

Fox hunting is illegal in England, Scotland and Wales, but evidence suggests that hunts are regularly breaking the law.

Fox hunting was banned by the Hunting Act 2004 in England and Wales, and the Protection of Wild Mammals (Scotland) Act 2002 in Scotland. But while these were both welcome and hard-fought pieces of legislation, overwhelming evidence suggests that both are being ignored or exploited by hunts on a regular basis.

Little is reported about the trade in monkeys. In contrast to the thriving ivory shops. But this illegal trade is a terrible global criminal enterprise that kills and sells billions of monkeys of all kinds, or kills them when they’re no longer for sale. Some are the most endangered, intelligent and sensitive animals on this earth.

The illegal trade in monkeys is a billion dollar business. A gorilla baby can cost up to $ 250,000. High in demand as pets in affluent homes or as performers in commercial zoos, baby chimpanzees have a cost of $ 12,500. Who the buyers are is just as opaque as in trading with people. They give them alcohol and drugs, they are abused, and when they are no longer needed, they are thrown away again.

The monkeys are also offered in the social networks. On an Instagram account, a user offered baby chimpanzees and orangutans in children’s clothing, 2 babies, $ 7,500 each for the” Special Introductory Price”.

Illegal trade in animals ranks third in the international drugs and arms trade. It makes possible also the net :. With a mouse click, people can buy any kind of animals. On a website called exoticanimalsforsale.net, a just a week old male capuchin monkey is listed at $ 7,800; A squirrel monkey is listed for $ 9000 and a Java Macaque for $ 4000.

The animals are in high demand in the Gulf States, Southeast Asia and China. Buyers are willing to pay high prices and additional fees to bypass international controls. And while they are well cared for at a young age, chimpanzees soon become too strong and potentially violent to be kept in a household.

Malnourished and frightened monkeys were discovered in covert crates at border controls, whether in France, Nepal, Thailand, Kuwait or the Democratic Republic of the Congo. They are confiscated all over the world. But these are only a few. Others end up living in a private zoo, far from home and their natural way of life.

Young apes are initially traumatized when they are caught in Africa and then again by being deported to Asia (often without adequate nutrition or care). They are then housed in zoos, circuses and zoos under supposedly appalling conditions – without proper attention, affection and the company of other monkeys, something that is required for the healthy development of these social species. Strict training regimes only aggravate the trauma, mongabay reports.

Daniel Stiles leads the project to end the monkey slavery (PEGAS) and examined the monkey trade for four years. Since 2013, he has made several trips to the Middle East, China and Southeast Asia, where he witnessed an increase in circus shows with chimpanzees and orangutans.

“The way they do business,” he said about monkey traders, “makes the mafia look like amateurs.” Trade in these animals is booming. To catch small monkeys, the mother has to be killed. If the father is there too, they kill him too. For every monkey smuggled, more could have been killed, because most species live in groups. It is not uncommon for poachers to wipe out entire families just to get a single cub. Little monkey babies are easier to smuggle.

Daniel Stiles is now a “monkey detective” in Kenya and has spent weeks looking for pictures of gorillas, chimpanzees and orangutans on Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp. He hoped to destroy an illegal global trade that has captured or killed tens of thousands of great apes and has brought some endangered species to the brink of extinction.

It is not enough that we take the habitat of the monkeys through deforestation and slash-and-burn, no!
They are also brutally trapped by the Monkey Mafia to sell them as merchandise to criminals rich or zoo owners ..
Every day we get the proof that evolution has not brought anything positive.
