Merry Christmas From Some of Our Friends.

Dear Mark,

This time last year, Star was a bear forgotten.

But this Christmas will be different.

Star is living, breathing proof that, wishes can come true. With the help of treasured friends like you, Mark.

Gifts like yours stop precious souls like Star dying on disgusting bile farms. From fading away forever. Unloved for eternity.

To show our gratitude for all you do, we wanted to show you the heartwarming impact your gifts have to a little bear like Star.

Happy Christmas from PETA!

Dear Mark,

Merry Christmas to you and all those you care about – whether two-legged, four-legged, feathered, or finned! Together, we’re changing the world for the better for countless animals, each one a feeling individual: a terrified rat forced to inhale toxic substances in a laboratory, a hen packed so tightly with others in an egg-farm shed that she can’t stretch out a single wing, a sheep suffering from ragged, bloody wounds after being carelessly shorn, and an elephant beaten to force her to carry tourists.

Hi Mark,

I want to wish you a very happy holiday season from all at Animal Equality! We hope your holidays are full of warmth and laughter for you and your loved ones.

I also want to thank you for all the invaluable support you have given Animal Equality in 2018. With your help, every day, we are moving towards a world where all animals are protected and respected.

We look forward to another year of working with you to save and change lives!

Thanks for all you do for animals,

Dr Toni Shephard – Executive Director – UK

We’d like to wish all of our supporters a wonderful holiday season and to thank you for your support for Asian elephants in 2018 – we couldn’t protect this awesome species without you.
You can read more about our successes and the challenges we face on our website at www.elephant-family.org

Dear Mark,

In this delightful time of year, some of our most glorious characters are here to warm your heart. Thank you for making their lives happier, safer, and even more filled with love.

Animal Aid Unlimited – India.

Mark,

From all of us here at Turtle Island Restoration Network, we wanted to say a heartfelt THANK YOU for all your support this year for our oceans and marine wildlife. Together we make up a community of more than 200,000 environmentalists and activists, working together to create a healthy and safe blue-green planet for all living things. We couldn’t ask for better supporters…you are like family to us!

Cheers to happy, peaceful and joyful holidays with family and friends!

Sincerely,

– The Team at Turtle Island Restoration Network

with animal loving greetings…

Happy Christmas from slaghterhouse_n

At Christmas Mark and Venus wish all their readers a nice, healthy time. We are not those who celebrate this “feast of love” with the suffering, pain and body of another being. By “love” we understand something different than massacring animals, eating, carrying or giving them as gifts. By “love” we mean respect for their lives, their rights to happiness and freedom.
For this we have both fought with our whole strength this year and tried to give the voiceless a support with serious information, responsible criticism and sharp language.
We hope we have you on our side.
Stay true to us, stay true to the animals, we keep fighting together, everyone as he can.
with animal loving greetings

UK: A ‘First’ Television Fundraiser for Animal Welfare Charities Gets Amazing Response In 3 Hour Broadcast.

UNKG0001

On the evening of 21/12/18; UK television Channel 5 did a whole 3 hour fundraising evening called  ‘animals in need at Christmas’.

In 3 hours they raised £ 623,000 for animal welfare !!

Brits are pretty supportive of animal welfare and the amount of money donated in just 3 hours reflects this !

Here are a couple of links to the event:

Santa Dash – this was an organised special event which saw no less than 10,000 ‘Santas’ running around the streets of Liverpool all in aid of supporting animal welfare.

santa dash

All the money raised yesterday will be distributed to 5 different animal welfare organisations in the UK.  You can see who they are via the links we have given above.

We just want t say that this has been waiting to happen for a very long time – it just needed a major tv channel to step up to the plate and take it on.  Channel 5 were the organisation which did t.

Well done Channel 5 – this is the first but it will not be the last.

I think they will do this every year at least once; if not more frequently.

 Regards Mark

VICTIMS OF NEGLIGENCE

260 dogs and cats burnt to death from fire
at the Anseong City Animal Shelter

Hundreds of dogs and cats, which should have been safe from harm, in the care of an Anseong animal shelter have died in a raging fire that swept through the property.

If this shelter had been managed properly, then those animals would have remained safe. They are now dead. Someone must be held to account, and a lesson must be learned so that others in similar positions of responsibility will be very clear of their duties towards animals in their care, which extends above and beyond the basic provision of food and a cage.

New Calls for Action! South Koreans:
Stop the illegal dog and cat meat trades.

The weather has already dropped to

freezing in South Korea!

All across South Korea, millions of ‘meat dogs’ (including newborn puppies) which are destined for human consumption, are kept outdoors in meat farms and slaughterhouses, imprisoned in cages that are crudely constructed of wire and raised off the ground, and which afford no protection from the snow or freezing winds that are part of a normal winter in that country. These poor creatures – from the second they are born, to their final breath at the uncaring hands of a brutal butcher – have to endure endless misery and agony. South Korea is truly a “Hell on Earth” for countless innocent dogs and cats. So, please, don’t let the Koreans continue their vile and cruel practice: click the links below to take action today to help fight the South Korean dog and cat meat trades.

URGENT

Indictment for an incident of animal abuse suspended. We need everyone’s protest and signatures.

Sharing Korea Alliance for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Busan KAPCA) ‘s Facebook post on November 22, 2018.

This is an incident of animal abuse which happened at an apartment building construction site in Ulsan, Korea. A man strikes a dog tied to a post at the construction site with an aluminum pipe over one meter long, and at least three times. We received this video last summer, but the owner of this video was reluctant to publicly reveal this video at the time, so we reported the incident to the police. We had never received an update of the investigation, so we contacted the police for a response. It was the learned that an indictment for this obvious case of animal abuse was suspended. In other words, it was acknowledged that the abuser committed a crime, but he was not charged.

The animal abuse crime was acknowledged but indictment was suspended because: 1) the abuser claimed to be the dog’s owner; 2) the abuser struck the dog because the dog bit him while he was trying to feed the dog; 3) the dog suffered only minor injuries; 4) the abuser did not have a past history of similar crimes, and 5) the Citizen’s Prosecutorial Committee gave the recommendation to suspend indictment.

During the investigation, the dog disappeared and when we inquired about the whereabouts of the dog, we were told from the police that the perpetrator sent away the dog somewhere and were shown a picture of the dog.

England: ‘SPANA’ – Helping Working Animals Where Their Owners Need Help.

flagge-england_jpg

SPANA are based in London, England.

I am proud to have supported them with a monthly donation for many years.

Established in 1923, SPANA’s goal is simple: to improve the welfare of working animals in the world’s poorest communities.

Our donations help to improve the lives of working animals; in order that their owners can continue to use them for their work; but with the added bonus of the best veterinary care and welfare needs covered free of charge.

They may seem simple, but SPANA donations provide free veterinary care for working animals; they provide new mouth bits to replace old and rusty ‘things’ that have been constructed from wire etc; they provide the construction and placement of drinking troughs for working animals along their main work routes, providing something as simple as water; but helping the animals to stay hydrated during their working day.

Most importantly; they also provide education to children regarding animal welfare, and why it is so important to care for and respect animals.

This video just released for Christmas 2018 gives a small insight into the world of SPANA; enjoy it;

Regards Mark

USA: Big Win for Animals – The US Farm Bill Has Just Been Signed Into Law.

USA

A Major Win For the Animals!

The US Farm Bill has just been signed into law, bringing some HUGE victories for the animals!

This is thanks to the hard work of activists and organizations across the US who took a stand against animal cruelty. And YOU were a part of that voice, as hundreds of thousands of you signed LFT petitions to enact these groundbreaking amendments:

  • Dog and cat meat are finally BANNED. It is now illegal across the nation to kill dogs or cats for human consumption, whereas before, an astonishing 44 states had no law protecting companion animals from slaughter.

  • Dogfighting and cockfighting are now illegal in all US territories. While these barbaric bloodsports were already banned in the 50 states, they were still fully legal in territories like Puerto Rico — where cockfighting was an appallingly massive industry raking in $18 million per year.

  • Animals have new protections against domestic violence. It is now a federal offense to cross state lines to harm a domestic partner’s pet, and vet bills can now be added to restitution. Federal funding will also help ensure victims’ companion animals have housing in emergency shelter situations.

Also important is what was rejected from the farm bill: the vile King Amendment, which would have stripped states’ rights to enforce their own laws against animal cruelty.

Thank you to all who spoke out and helped achieve these victories for the animals!

UK: A Christmas Gift From the UK To The Elephants of the World – Dealing In Ivory Is Now A Criminal Offence !

UNKG0001

UK ivory ban becoming law is the best Christmas gift for the world’s threatened elephants!

20th December, 2018

Malawi elephant

Today, we and our nine campaign partnersPDF are delighted to see the UK Government’s Ivory Bill receive Royal Assent to become law.

In future, most ivory sales in, to and from the UK will be treated as criminal offences.

Mary Rice, our Executive Director, said: “Following on the heels of China’s closure of its own domestic ivory market at the start of the year, this is the best Christmas present the UK could have given the world’s threatened elephant populations in Africa and Asia.

“The Ivory Bill becoming law is an important move which recognises the need to take firm action to protect elephant populations from poaching and ivory trafficking.

After years of sustained campaigning, we welcome the news and hope that countries which still have legal domestic ivory markets will see this as the standard to aspire to.”

Christmas and gifts

Milka Kuh Parallelen_n

Right now, in Christmas many gifts are exchanged. The advertisement works on high tours, chocolates, biscuits, pies of any kind are for sale.
Gifts are beautiful, signs of friendship and appreciation. Do not change your principles just because the others make a slaughter party out of Christmas, or because they wish for Christmas an exclusive “Milka Cow” praline collection.
Give vegan gifts.
Only these are signs of love and friendship for those you never want to reveal, the animals.

My best regards, Venus
