England: Paris Fashion Week – Stella McCartney goes wild to drive home animal-free message.

WAV comment – Being the daughter of Sir Paul, huge animal rights campaigner, ex Beatle, and veggie campaigner; protecting the environment and animal rights have always been the trademark of Stella’s products. What else would you expect ?

“These animals are the ingredients of everyone else’s fashion shows. We are the only luxury fashion house in the world that isn’t killing animals on the runway. I wanted to make that point, but in a joyous way.”

The Stella McCartney brand has worked without leather, fur, skins, feathers or animal glues since its launch in 2001.

Don’t the (humans dressed up as) animals on the catwalk look great as well as sending a clear message to the fashion houses of the world – that you don’t have to kill to promote your products and designs now. Fortunately, the world is changing; people are ditching products that involve the suffering and killing of animals for ‘looks and so called ‘beauty’.

We thank Stella for putting on such a great promotion of showing that you don’t need dead animal by-products now days to look good – there is so much ‘cruelty free fashion’ out there for people to buy now.

Fur is dead; leather is dying out, and people are finally waking up to the cruelties involved – so bring it on !

Stella McCartney goes wild to drive home animal-free message

Paris show features wildlife costumes to emphasise the label’s planet-friendly ethos

The singer Janelle Monáe and actor Shailene Woodley were in the front row, but two rabbits, a fox, a horse, two cows and a crocodile stole the show. People in lifesize animal costumes, of the kind more usually seen at theme park parades than at Paris fashion week, joined models for the finale of Stella McCartney’s show, swinging their new-season handbags and posing for the cameras.

The optics were fun, but the message was serious – that there are animals on almost every catwalk, it’s just that they are usually dead. The half-moon shoulder bag carried jauntily by a brown cow here was made from a vegan alternative to leather, while other bags were created from second-life plastic.

“What we try to do here at Stella is to sugarcoat a powerful, meaningful message in a little bit of humour and fun, to make our point in a palatable and digestible way so that people listen,” said McCartney. “These animals are the ingredients of everyone else’s fashion shows. We are the only luxury fashion house in the world that isn’t killing animals on the runway. I wanted to make that point, but in a joyous way.”

The Stella McCartney brand has worked without leather, fur, skins, feathers or animal glues since its launch in 2001, “but it has taken me my entire career to get the fabrics to the stage they are at now, where our animal-free leather is soft enough, and has enough luxury to it,” the designer said after the show.

This collection featured more leather alternatives than ever before, not only in bags and shoes but in decoratively perforated lightweight trench coats and fluffy shagpile shearlings. “We do it like this because it’s better for the animals and better for the planet.”

Last year, McCartney sold a stake in her brand to LVMH in a deal that gave her a role as special adviser on sustainability to the luxury group’s chairman and chief executive, Bernard Arnault. The role poses a challenge – Arnault was widely criticised last year after describing Greta Thunberg as “demoralising” – but McCartney is confident she can have an impact.

“I think the sheer fact that he has invested his time and his money and mindset into a different business model [at Stella] already has an impact. You don’t come onboard at Stella and not start to think differently. My goal is to make changes more broadly at LVMH. Mr Arnault’s goal is to respond to what people are asking for today, and to learn, and to change.”

McCartney described her role so far as “about bringing information, talking about alternatives in manufacturing and sourcing. I’m introducing the technologies and techniques and suppliers that we use here at Stella to the other LVMH brands.”

Coats, a focal point of every Stella winter collection, looked strong this season. In dense twill melton wool, with high storm collars and cosy tie belts, the coats and jackets were an appealing blend of utility and chic.

Knitwear was another strong point, with three-piece looks – a tunic, a midi skirt and a polo neck worn beneath – in toning lumberjack checks.

Coming together to save lives

(WTXL) — Florida had one of the highest numbers of cats and dogs killed at shelters last year, according to a new study.

american-flag-120402148

The study conducted by Best Friends Animal Society found that in 2018, 352,000 cats and dogs entered shelters in the state of Florida, 262,000 were saved and 55,400 were killed.

It also only found 40 no-kill communities in Florida.

According to the study, Florida was only behind California, Texas, and North Carolina.

The study stated that last year, about 733,000 dogs and cats were killed in our nation’s animal shelters, simply because they didn’t have safe places to call home (!!!)

The study found 2,000 dogs and cats in America are killed every day in shelters.

And I mean ... We cannot save all animals, we all know it.
But that’s not the main question!
The question is: how many animals CAN I save?
And if everyone answers this question with the adoption of just one shelter animal, the shelters will soon have to report bankruptcy.

A bit of food, a warm place to sleep, two- three beautiful walks in nature with your new friend a day, that is the “huge” effort that you have when a new family member comes into your home. And a lot of felicity, partnership because…

He loves you
He respects you
He is loyal to you
He doesn’t betray you
He is your only real friend who always stands by you…

A life without an animal at home is possible but boring.

Petition – Jail to all those responsible for the mistreatment of the lion Jupiter

Addressed to: Government of Colombia

As a child he was saved from an unworthy life and constant mistreatment in a circus, and thanks to a beautiful woman the lion could be raised knowing love and care.

But one day the Administrative Department of Environmental Management said that the animal could not live in that place because it was not “safe” and he was transferred to a shelter in Córdoba, where he ended up almost dead for having left him without attention, that’s why I ask that those responsible for DAGMA respond to the Law for the mistreatment of this beautiful animal.

Central Park Carriage Horse Euthanized After Collapse; City Officials Call for Investigation Amid Public Protest

A 12-year-old horse was euthanized on Saturday after suffering cardiac issues in Central Park, the horses vet said

One day after a carriage horse collapsed in New York City’s Central Park and died a short time later, animal protestors crowded outside of the Clinton Park Stables to called for independent investigations into the working conditions for the city’s carriage horses.

The 12-year-old horse named Aisha was euthanized on Saturday hours after it was caught on video repeatedly collapsing over a 15-minute period.

“The horse showed sudden signs of distress around 12:30 pm on Saturday after doing a single ride and then waiting for approximately an hour and a half at the 7th Ave carriage stand. The vet and our emergency horse trailer were called immediately, and the horse unhitched and unharnessed,” said a spokesperson for the Historic Horse-Drawn Carriages of Central Park.

The vet and our emergency horse trailer were called immediately, and the horse unhitched and unharnessed,” said a spokesperson for the Historic Horse-Drawn Carriages of Central Park.

“Instead of calling a qualified vet, to help this horse, several carriage drivers tied him up with ropes, shoved, pulled him into a trailer and they took him back to the stable,” said Edita Birnkrant, executive director of NYCLASS (New Yorkers for Clean, Livable, and Safe Streets).

Birnkrant said carriage horses are overworked, under cared for, and put in dangerous situations every day with no accountability when things like this happen.

This is an industry out of control. That’s why we are calling on all the authorities who have the ability to fully, immediately shut down this abusive industry. We need a third-party investigation. It cannot be the very city agencies that are so inept to allow this abuse,” Birnkrant said.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and Council Speaker Corey Johnson tweeted about the video on Sunday, calling for immediate investigations.

England: Can You Name Them ? – Police release pictures of huntsmen in Warwickshire hunt trespass on railway near Banbury.

Police release pictures of huntsmen in Warwickshire hunt trespass on railway near Banbury

British Transport Police (BTP) have issued two photos of men they want to identify after a hunt ran amok and held up trains on New Year’s Day.

Two men wanted by British Transport Police after a New Year's Day incident involving a hunt running amok over the Banbury to Leamington railway

In an appeal to the public they have asked anyone who recognises the men to contact BTP.

The Banbury Guardian covered the story at the time. At that time Warwickshire Hunt denied that a hound had been struck by a train, claiming ‘all hounds had returned safely to kennels’, but BTP has confirmed that a dog was, indeed, hit.

The second photo of the huntsmen released by British Transport Police today

One train involved in the initial incident and was left waiting on the track while Network Rail workers tried to get the hunt to leave the railway, which they refused to do. Overall 21 services were affected because of the backlog of delays. Network Rail confirmed that the trains have forward facing CCTV and their examination of the film has resulted in today’s appeal.

A spokesman for BTP said: “Officers investigating an incident of trespass in Warwickshire are today releasing these images in connection.

“On January 1 shortly before 1pm, officers were called to the lines in Claydon following reports of a group of trespassers on the tracks. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, however a dog was sadly hit by a train.

“The incident caused significant delays and cost to the railway. Officers believe the people in the CCTV images may have information which could help their investigation.

“If you recognise them or have any information please contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 305 of 01/01/2020.

“Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

The bleeding zone

This is the reality of a rabbit slaughterhouse in Spain.
– Rabbits are transported in containers after a stressful 12-hour trip.
– They take them to the “bleeding zone” and hang them upside down.
Terrified wait watching while others are killed right in front of them.
– And, then, it is their turn to also be HANGED, DEGOLLATED and DISPELELED for meat.

Is it only in Spain?
No! This is how it works in all totalitarian, fascist systems, as well as the system of human animals, which they have constructed against all other animal species.

This fascist system of the stronger race enables us per se to practice the worst torture, injustice and exploitation of other animal species, with the only justification not to belong to the same species.

Every totalitarian system has perpetrators and victims.
We are on the side of the victims.

South Korea: Closing Stable Doors and Bolted Horses -President Moon Failed the Dogs In Hell Hole Meat Farms; Now South Korea Pays the ‘Karma’ Price for its Ignorance.

south-korea-flag

South Korea declares war on Coronavirus – but what about war on the terrible dog farms ? – after all; did it not all start at a live animal hellhole in China ? – is there not something to learn from all of this ? – it would appear that the people in charge ‘declaring war’ could not really fight their way out of a paper bag, let alone declare war !

Should President Moon have stuck with his Pre-election promises from 2017 and undertaken a ‘war’ with those involved in the live dog meat farms that so many have petitioned and provided graphic information on ? – after all, was it not the shitty squalid conditions in a Chinese live animal market where all this virus, which has now shut down the planet; started ?

We would think and hope that both the Chinese and South Koreans would put 2 and 2 together and come up with an answer of 4; they are supposed to be intelligent; but despite this, they seem incapable of looking at the root causes of the problems in their own nations – ie animal welfare. South Korea is starting now to pay the price for its past inactions – President Moon; you have failed your nation and you should have lived up to your pre election promises to take action for meat dogs. Kind of ‘Karma’ from the dogs one could say !

20 Aug 2018 South Korea’s President Moon Jae-In has been urged to end the brutal dog meat trade in his country. Animal protection campaigners in Seoul hand-delivered a petition signed by nearly 1 million people globally to the President’s residence, the Blue House.

Reports – Canine prejudice

The group rescued Tory two years ago, but has been unable to find an owner due to prejudices against black dogs in South Korea. The president says the adoption shows “that both humans and animals should be free from prejudice and discrimination,” Yonhap reports.

Animal rights formed part of President Moon’s election campaign, where he pledged to build more playgrounds for pets and feeding facilities for stray cats, the Korea Herald reports. However, he stopped short on a complete ban on dog meat trade, saying instead that it should be phased out.
