USA: Seaworld – Stand With Joan Jett and Demand the USDA-APHIS Shut Down SeaWorld Once and For All! – Please Sign the Petition.

In June of 2022, SeaWorld’s annual shareholders meeting was shaken up by beloved punk musician Joan Jett, who delivered a statement shedding light on yet another one of SeaWorld’s horrific crimes against the animals who are held captive there. It is no secret that SeaWorld treats their animals terribly — and the park is no stranger to a bad reputation. But Joan Jett’s statement is a reminder that we cannot take the pressure off of our governing agencies, and we must demand this glorified sea creature prison be shut down once and for all!

Sign the petition to stand with Joan Jett and demand the USDA-APHIS shut down SeaWorld once and for all!

In Jett’s statement, she called out the park for its alleged sexual abuse of dolphins and whales. These iconic, wild sea mammals are forced to undergo horrific forced breeding in which females are literally drugged so that they cannot fight back against the humans who are forcing them to be inseminated.

SeaWorld is clearly in violation of a whole slew of animal welfare policies, and it is time the department do what the public has been urging them to do for so many years: shut the institution down for good.

Sign the petition now to tell the USDA-APHIS: close down SeaWorld now!

South Korea: An art piece displaying slowly dying goldfish was removed from a museum after complaints of animal cruelty. That Is Animal Abuse; but There Is Also Proper Art.

WAV Comment – lets be honest and truthful; there is nothing ‘art piece’ about a cheap ‘artist’ such as Buck.  This is not art – simple, any pratt knows that.  He is just someone who obviously gets a kick out of killing animals and then calling it ‘art’.  Why don’t you get yourself down to the local slaughterhouse Mr Buck; where you can revel in animal deaths all day long.

A bad case of human.

On the other hand, many of you will only know of Ronnie Wood as a guitarist with the Rolling Stones and the Faces.  But there is another side to Ronnie; he is a real artist who uses paint brushes to produce some fantastic artworks.  Check some out:

That’s art – not like the goldfish in a bag shit you get from Buck.

Here is Ronnie playing guitar with Rod Stewart.  Enjoy.

An art piece displaying slowly dying goldfish was removed from a museum after complaints of animal cruelty

  • An art piece containing 15 goldfish in plastic bags was removed from a South Korea museum Tuesday.
  • Local animal rights groups were concerned about the fish in the display, one-third of which died.
  • “Now that the fish are gone, it lost its meaning as a work of art,” Yu Buck told the Korea Times.

An artist who uses dead or dying creatures in his artwork had his installation — filled with 15 goldfish in IV bags — removed from a museum in South Korea on Tuesday.

Yu Buck’s art piece, which is named “Fish” and located in the Jeonnam Museum of Art in Gwangyang, South Korea, was considered by some to be animal cruelty, according to Artnet.

“The slow deaths of the goldfish were meant to be a part of my piece. Now that the fish are gone, it lost its meaning as a work of art,” Yu told the Korea Times. “While this may cause discomfort to general audiences, the artist thinks and expresses differently from members of the public.”

Buck’s piece, part of an exhibition called “Mourning: In the Wake of Loss, A Curatorial Essay” that opened on June 30, caused concern from visitors and local animal rights groups over the goldfish displayed in the piece, Korea Times reported. The article did not specify which groups voiced their concerns.

Five of the 15 fish died after the exhibit opened, but the museum removed the rest on Tuesday.

“Art museums are designed to serve as open plazas as well as platforms for discussion,” a museum official told the Korea Times. “As we value the visitors’ feedback and the animal rights groups’ stance, we removed the goldfish after consulting with the artist.”

Similarly, an installation by artist Damien Hirst at the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg museum in Germany was dismantled earlier this month for its controversial implementation of living and dead flies, Insider previously reported.

The Jeonnam Museum of Art did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.

England: Hot Dogs; Hot Cats, Hot Wildlife and the Rest. Tips for Keeping Animals Well In the Heat.

PetsKeep paws off pavements (and don’t shave your dog)

It’s not just people who are going to have a hard time coping with the heat – pets also experience extreme discomfort. If their owners aren’t careful, heatstroke or burnt paws are very possible.

A lot of the guidance (you can read the Guardian’s here) is the same you’d follow for yourself: make sure your pet is in the shade and hydrated, only go for walks in the coolest parts of the day and avoid being barefoot on pavements.

Veterinarians, perhaps counterintuitively, also discourage shaving your pet’s fur as it actually helps keep them cool. There are even pet-safe sunscreen options that will keep your fur babies safe from the sun and prevent sunburn.

How to spot a too hot dog – and other pet care tips for a heatwave

Get ready for sweltering weather by learning what to do if you notice signs of heatstroke

Athird of people do not know what to do if their dog has heatstroke, research has found, and the RSPCA says it could be “a matter of life or death” if owners do not take extreme caution with their pets this weekend.

The pet charity has appealed to owners to take every possible precaution to keep their animals safe during the intense heat, including familiarising themselves with the signs of heatstroke in animals and swotting up on how to make frozen treats.

Esme Wheeler, a dog welfare expert at the RSPCA, said: “The hot weather has gone from glorious to extreme, and we can’t stress enough how vital it is that pet owners take the situation seriously. We’re urging anyone with a pet – whether it’s a dog or cat, a rabbit or guinea pig, and even chickens, horses and exotic animals – to put aside some time today to read up and make plans.”

Dogs

The signs of heatstroke include excessive panting, unusual breathing noise, lethargy or change in behaviour, stumbling, and a blue/grey tinge to the gums or tongue. Owners should contact their vet immediately if they spot any of these signs.

Move the dog into the shade or a cool space and offer water, although only in small amounts. Lie them in cool but not very cold water and/or pour water over them. A soaked, cool towel could be placed over the dog’s side, and replaced if it becomes warm.

To avoid getting to that stage, skip walks and travel, keep dogs indoors out of the heat and leave water available at all times. Owners could also consider making frozen treats to encourage their pets to keep hydrated.

If you must exercise your dog, aim to keep to gentle, slow walks on the lead, and do this in the very early morning or late evening when temperatures are cooler. If in doubt, don’t go out.

Cats, small furries, snakes, fish and pet chickens

The RSPCA has a video on how to keep cats cool in hot weather, with tips such as laying down a cool damp towel in case your cat chooses to lie on it, and using pet-safe suncream on ears and other exposed areas if necessary.

Small animals, poultry and other pets should be checked twice a day for flystrike (when flies lay their eggs on another animal, which then hatch into maggots). Guinea pigs can be kept cool and hydrated by making them a fresh vegetable treat.

“Ensure rabbits and guinea pigs have constant access to shade and fresh drinking water at all times, and remember that as the sun moves during the day so too does the shade,” said Wheeler. “Somewhere that was shaded in the morning could be in full sun by the afternoon.”

Owners could also freeze a semi-full plastic bottle of water and wrap it in a towel so their pets can lie against it. People with pet chickens can encourage them to stay in shaded areas by hanging up a homemade vegetable garland. Fish tanks should be kept out of direct sunlight.

Snake owners have been advised to be extra vigilant as hot weather can make the reptiles very active and more likely to scale their tank and escape, the RSPCA said.

The charity’s scientific officer, Evie Button, said: “Snakes are excellent escape artists and will take the opportunity of a gap in an enclosure door or a loose-fitting lid to make a break for it.

“We would urge all pet snake owners to be extra vigilant at this time of year, invest in an enclosure suitable for the particular species and make sure that enclosure is kept secure – and locked if necessary – when unattended.”

Horses and farm animals

Owners need to know the signs of dehydration in horses so they can contact a vet if needed.

Farm animals need their water troughs checked regularly to make sure they are working properly and any algae or debris has been removed.

With exercise and travel planned for either end of the day when temperatures are lower, horses stabled during the day might appreciate a “boredom buster” treat.

A non-toxic fly repellent spray and a fly mask can help keep horses protected from bugs, and pet-safe sunscreen can be used on horses’ muzzles if necessary.

Make sure pigs have plenty of wet mud to wallow in, as well as shade.

Wildlife

Leave a bowl of fresh drinking water in your garden for birds and other wildlife. Top up water levels of ponds, and keep an eye out for wildlife when using lawnmowers or strimmers.

Thailand: Vets Perform CPR On Mother Elephant As She Faints Protecting Baby Calf.

Rescue team perform CPR on mother elephant after she faints protecting trapped calf

Photo – Independent – London.

Two veterinarians performed CPR on a large mother elephant who fainted during the rescue of her trapped calf in Thailand.

By standing on the elephant’s chest, the vets used their weight to put pressure on the jumbo to wake her up.

The mother was protecting her one-year-old calf after it had fallen into a drain hole but became trapped during a panic when rescuers arrived to help.

After lifting her body out of the drain, doctors frantically massaged her with their hands and their feet to help her regain consciousness.

Both were later returned to the wild.

England: Birds, Cockney and Cages. Oh, and ACTIONS !

England 17/7.  It is hot here today, and has been for most of the last week.  Tomorrow and Tuesday, the Met Office has put out Red alerts – the very highest heat conditions which could be expected – like 40+ C for England ! – come on man; no its true, conditions which have never reached these temperatures before are expected in the next few days.

Southern Europe, Spain, Portugal and France have experienced even higher temperatures.  Everyone is saying it is global waring causing this, but the other question is ‘anything being done abut it really ?’

I went out this morning and put fresh water into all the water compartments that we have in the garden – currently about 7; in conditions like this especially everyone must ensure that animals have lots of fresh cool water to drink and bathe in.  I took these pictures of all the birds enjoying their morning bath earlier, cleaning their feathers down and ridding themselves of all the dust, whilst having a good drink at the same time.

A lot of people from overseas would probably not associate London and the South east of England with Parakeets; but there are thousands of them flying freely in and around the area.  Animal buddy Pauline sent me thee pictures of London area Parakeets – they don’t squark Cockney yet but I guess it is just a matter of time.

Talking of Cockney me old China’s, have a butchers at this and learn:

Joking aside, it is conditions like this, temperatures like this, which especially bring home the suffering that must be endured by crated animals all across Europe.  It is now time to break the cages and liberate all the animals – you can do this (if you live in an EU member state) by adding your name to the citizens charter to free all the caged animals.  Here is a link which provides all the details – watch the video and then take action:

England: Caged Conditions We Found in the EU Were Nothing Short of Hellish. Ban the Cage Age Now. – World Animals Voice

The birds in the garden are free; they can bathe and wash down in stifling conditions like we are currently experiencing.  Animals in cages do not have that pleasure; such is the want of man.  Speak for them, break the cages and set them all free now.  Please sign the petition (EU citizens) or pass to others that can.

Spain’s Pamplona bull run returns in full force after 2-year COVID hiatus

7 Jul 2022 Sporting white clothing with red neckerchiefs, hundreds of brain dead don’t give a shit about much at all ‘thrill-seekers’ / animal abusers were chased through the narrow city-centre streets by raging, specially-bred fighting bulls to Pamplona’s bullring where the 800-metre course ends and the animals are then further abused and killed for the pleasure of these tossers.

Thursday’s run of the bulls lasted 2 minutes and 35 seconds. Three runners were taken to hospital due to injuries caused by falls, but unfortunately, nobody was gored, emergency services reported. The first bull run festival in the Spanish city kicked off following a two-year hiatus due to COVID restrictions

Australia: Not Exactly the Tops When It Comes To Animal Welfare – Savage Shearing Exposed; Mulesing, Live Exports, Useless Trade Deals; Do We Go On ?

WAV Comment:  Lets face it, we always hear promises from all the Australian governments about how things are going to get better.  Australian sheep have a bad time from the minute they are born until they have been live exported to and barbarically slaughtered in the dregs that are other parts of the world.  And lets not forget the mulesing which takes place in the Australian farms; – hacking off chunks of flesh without any form of anaesthetic.  And now the UK says it is setting up a trade deal with them ! – for example:

Pesticide limits in Australia are 200 times higher than the UK’s. Australia also have 144 licensed pesticides, whereas the UK only licenses 73 of these substances.

Mulesing.

Sheep Left Bloody After Savage Shearing in Victoria – News – PETA Australia

Dear Mark,

I’m writing to share shocking new footage filmed inside a Victorian shearing shed earlier this year. The video shows a ewe – injured during shearing and badly bleeding – being held between the knees of a shearer, who is crudely stitching up her gaping wound without administering any pain relief. The shearer then mops up her blood with her own fleece.

This is far from the first time cruelty has been documented at an Australian wool operation.

Hours of eyewitness footage compiled by PETA over the years shows shearers hitting sheep with closed fists and electric clippers, kneeling on their necks with their full weight, and slamming them into the floor.

Sheep deserve better, and Australians deserve to know the truth about wool jumpers. Will you please help us speak up for sheep by sharing this exposé far and wide?

Once people know better, they can do better. Sharing information is the first step towards creating a kinder world for animals.

Want to know more about wool? The wealthy wool industry loudly and consistently extolls the virtues of the material, so it can be hard to sort fact from fiction. That’s why we’ve launched a new website, WoolFacts.com, to help consumers and designers develop a deeper understanding of the impact wool production has on animals and the planet.

England: Message From Mark.

Hi all;

This is just a word to let you know that things will be slowing down, or stopping, for a while.

I thank you for your support and kind messages, but as always, there are just a few which arrive and make no serious comment, but do contribute to how one feels about things.

I have personally suffered from Multiple Sclerosis (MS) for over 23 years now; that, plus the constant work of fighting for animal rights, which I have done for over 40 years now, kind of drags you down a bit sometimes – and now is one of those ‘real’ times.  In order to improve my health and get back to a better situation, I need to take some time out.

Please keep sending anything through the normal channels (Stacey (Our Compass https://worldanimalsvoice.com/?s=stacey ) and Erika (Animal Aid Unlimited https://worldanimalsvoice.com/?s=animal+aid+unlimited ) as always); I am not going away, just lightening up for a time.  If and when I want to do posts, then they will be done; but at the moment I cannot go on researching and keeping the site going on a daily basis.

So you will see some reductions for a while; a period of re charging batteries and getting back to strength.  This is not the end for sure; but it is a time for closure until things improve.

There is the ‘Serbian Animals Voice’ site also which you can visit at https://serbiananimalsvoice.com/

This gives an insight into what campaign work has been done in the past; especially huge fighting for the strays and fur bearers of Serbia since 2005; the Russian seal pups fight which was eventually stopped, and as always, live animal transport anywhere ! The Serbian site has been archived now but is still fully open for visitors. Check out some of the videos and our huge work in the archive section links on the left side.

There are also a few memories I share on the site from past campaign days:

A whitecoat pup netted by the Russian seal pup hunters.

The crew hit Brussels to speak for the seal pups.

Thanks for understanding the situation and I will be back with you hopefully in the near future.

Thailand: 2 Women Arrested After Attempting To Smuggle Over 100 Live Animals In Suitcase.

All pics: Thailand Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation

More than 100 live animals found in women’s luggage

Two women have been arrested after trying to smuggle 109 live animals out of Thailand in their luggage.

Officers discovered 35 turtles, 50 chameleons, 20 snakes, two white porcupines and two armadillos in their bags.

The pair were trying to board a Thai Airways flight to India, and suspicions were raised following what was meant to be a routine X-ray inspection.

Officers discovered 35 turtles, 50 chameleons, 20 snakes, two white porcupines and two armadillos in their bags.

The pair were trying to board a Thai Airways flight to India, and suspicions were raised following what was meant to be a routine X-ray inspection.

Both have been arrested and charged with violations of Thailand’s Wildlife Preservation and Protection Act, Customs Act, and Animal Epidemic Act.

The incident happened at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport on Monday.

According to Traffic, a non-governmental organisation that monitors the trade of wild animals, such incidents are a “serious and growing” problem.

“It comprises the fourth-largest illegal trade worldwide after arms, drugs and human trafficking, and frequently links with other forms of serious crime such as fraud, money laundering, and corruption,” a March 2022 report warned.

Common motivations for wildlife smuggling include their use for food, traditional medicines, artefacts, fashion and exotic pets.

Between 2011 and 2020, Traffic’s research claims more than 70,000 wild animals – including their body parts or derivatives – were discovered at Indian airports.

And Chennai International Airport, where the arrested pair were travelling, had the highest number of wildlife seizure incidents in the country.

Well done the Thai authorities;

Regards Mark

Time Out – The Musical Box

England – sometime in the distant past.

While Henry Hamilton-Smythe minor (8) was playing croquet with
Cynthia Jane De Blaise-William (9), sweet-smiling Cynthia raised her
mallet high and gracefully removed Henry’s head.

Two weeks later, in Henry’s nursery, she discovered his treasured musical box.

Eagerly she opened it and as “Old King Cole” began to play, a small spirit-
figure appeared. Henry had returned – but not for long, for as he
stood in the room his body began ageing rapidly, leaving a child’s
mind inside.

A lifetime’s desires surged through him. Unfortunately
the attempt to persuade Cynthia Jane to fulfill his romantic desire
led his nurse to the nursery to investigate the noise. Instinctively
Nanny hurled the musical box at the bearded child, destroying both.

England: Plastic Free July – Watch and Try to Do Your Bit.

Yesterday, the Home Office (UK) published the statistics of the number of animal experiments conducted in Britain in 2021. As usual these were shocking: there is no need for Britain to continue animal experiments –better, safer and kinder methods are available. It is very difficult to get access to laboratories due to high levels of secrecy in this cruel industry, and so the use of animation is a good way to give an insight into what happens to millions of animals each year.

Check out our brand-new animated film, for your quick and colourful guide to animal testing in Great Britain. The film explains about animal experiments – and the numerous non-animal methods, all of which are far more reliable than using animals. It is not gruesome or gory – and has lots of useful facts and figures! We hope that it will inspire people: You can take action by sharing our film with your friends!

This month is ‘plastic-free July’, a chance for us to reconsider our plastic consumption, which as we all know, is harming the planet, animals and marine life. With the sea change in public concern about climate change (sorry, couldn’t resist) there is some hope that we can start to repair the damage caused by our plastic habits, but we need to change those behaviours which caused it in the first place!

It’s also down to big companies to take seriously their responsibilities: You can help by starting up the conversation with local newspapers, TV and radio stations, about how supermarkets, restaurants, businesses, and delivery companies should be reducing their use of plastic.
