England: Best Regards and Hopes For An Excellent 2023 Of Exposing the Sufferings.

I never really ‘enjoy’ Christmas that much; although as a ‘Christian’, I probably should celebrate more.

The mass murder of animals every day in slaughterhouses around the world is terrible enough, let alone ‘celebrating’ more over yuletide by stuffing fat faces with the unnecessary deaths of sentient beings.

For me, Christmas is a time of even more sadness really.  Yes, a few presents are given to loved ones – as giving is what it is about really.  The sadness is always there when (as an activist who over many years has ‘seen’ quite a bit on issues); when I think about the mass, unnecessary slaughter that takes place especially in this season (of goodwill ?) so that people can have a ‘good time’ munching on murder.  What is good about the captive bolt and the bleeding out of gentle animals who have never done anything against the human race but are now murdered as extras to be placed on the family Christmas table ?

Also, why are, like the animals, little children in the Ukraine having to endure this festive season without ever really being a kiddie and enjoying the suprises that should await them when they wake up on Christmas morning, in warm houses with windows, electricity and running water ? – what have they done in their short lives to be picked on and targeted by this senseless madman from across their border.  Innocent children being picked on by persons who feel they are and must retain being top dog, top of the tree – for me, there are a lot of similarities to the abuses of some humans to the abuses endured by farm / meat animals – think about it – top of the tree and all that.

The innocent people of the Ukraine; The people of Tibet being eradicated by China – Free Tibet – Our vision is a free Tibet in which Tibetans are able to determine their own future and the human rights of all are respected.,  the list just goes on and on; the suffering of all sentients seems to go on and on !

Now we hardly give presents to each other; instead we like to give financial donations to charity to help their campaigns / causes instead; to help free bears from bile farms – Home (animalsasia.org), to help the rescue and welfare of animals in India from our wonderful friends at AAU – https://worldanimalsvoice.com/?s=animal+aid+unlimited , to fight live transport, hunting, in vivisection, etc , etc.  The list just goes on.

This year especially I think about the people of the Ukraine; innocents caught up in the crossfire of a neighbouring psycho madman.  I hope you will think about them and others this festive season, when things are supposed to be good ?

Take stand and make it suffering free;

I wish all activists best wishes for what they do – keep it up and have a very successful and productive 2023 with all your campaigning. For the animals;

Regards Mark

A farm investigation has revealed dead turkeys hanging by the feet, inside a slaughterhouse at night. In November investigators with Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) entered a turkey slaughterhouse in the UK. They were not expecting what they found –

“We were extremely shocked to see a number of dead turkeys hanging by their feet in the middle of the night, it was as though they had stopped ‘processing’ these birds mid way through and gone home for the night.” Said one of the investigators. “We were just expecting to enter a shed full of turkeys waiting for their death but we found an on site slaughterhouse. I saw a door going into another room and I peered through, revealing the horrific sight of around 6 dead turkeys hanging by their feet almost fully de-feathered.

Blood was dripping out of their mouths and eyes.” “Nothing can prepare you to witness the blatant disregard of life inside of a slaughterhouse. These turkeys had personalities, family, friends and a subjective experience of life; but here they are treated as a mere object to make profit from. The beings we saw and photographed are the beings who may be on your table this Christmas.

We urge everyone to make the connection to the individual, and understand what they went through before their mutilated body lays on your table. Celebrations that rely on the traditions surrounding the murder of sentient individuals needs to be history.”

India: December 2022 News From Animal Aid Unlimited.

Dear Mark,

Because of you, so many animals get to shine bright. Thank you for your kindness, which has reached many hearts here in Animal Aid.

Your generosity over the past year has enabled us to help more animals than ever before, and to serve them better every day. Your help has meant more soft glossy fur, more twinkling eyes, more soft muzzles and more silly playfulness

Cherub wanted to heal fastin order to start kissing!

This little girl had been hit by a vehicle and had blood coming from her nose. A kind passer-by saw her injury and called us to the rescue. She cried out as we gently lifted her into our carry-basket, but she was too hurt and confused to struggle. As we examined her mouth, nose, and badly sprained leg, she kept perfectly still and her eyes were worried with doubt.

But what a resilient brave-heart she proved to be! After pain medicine, supportive bandages and plenty of cuddles, her tail gave a tiny wag, and we knew we had a life-loving spirit on our hands. Meet Cherub now!

A simple procedure brought huge relief for Saaya.

This frightened young lady was in tremendous pain from an abscess around her neck causing so much swelling she could barely turn her head. An abscess is a build up of pus formed under the skin, usually from a bacterial infection. In her case, we suspect she’d suffered a puncture wound, and the abscess formed to fight the infection from the puncture. Left untreated, an abscess can cause sepsis and even lead to death, so it was vital that she receive treatment right away.

We treated her with antibiotics, painkillers, and gave her sedation to painlessly drain the abscess. As soon as Saaya woke up from the sedation she was already feeling so much better, and within just a day she looked like another dog, and a gorgeous one!

Sponsor a sweetheart!

We often hear from people who have sponsored an animal that they feel their sponsored sweetheart is connected to them, no matter the distance.   Animals in permanent sanctuary at Animal Aid often came to us with a heartbreaking past, whether because of abandonment, or injuries so severe that they needed life-long care and protection. Sponsoring one of our many sanctuary darlings means giving the gift of not only rescue and medical care, but a life-time of love.    Take a look at these beauties–each with unique needs, a painful past and a beautiful life in Animal Aid’s permanent sanctuary, with you helping watch over him or her.

England: (London) – A Message From Animal Equality. For ALL WAV Supporters.

Hi Mark,

I know you probably don’t get to hear this a lot when you open your emails so I want to say it now, loud and clear:

Thank you.

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the support you give to Animal Equality and the support you give to animals who suffer on factory farms and inside slaughterhouses around the world.

When you sign petitions, post about farmed animals on social media, attend protests, and make donations to Animal Equality…it all makes a difference.

It’s so inspiring for me to see more and more people like you supporting us and believing in our collective mission to end animal cruelty.

I’ve been fighting for animals for over 20 years now and it will never be easy to see an innocent animal suffering.

And yet, I can honestly say that I feel privileged to be writing this email to you. I have always felt privileged to work for animals. It’s my life’s mission and I will do it for the rest of my life.

But I have been through many difficulties.

When I founded Animal Equality with Javier Moreno and Jose Valle we started the organisation with no resources. We didn’t have the money to do much for animals and that was very hard.

On one occasion we ran out of money during an important investigation inside pig farms in Spain. We literally had to ask our friends to support us with donations to be able to finalise the investigation.

So they did.

And that became the first ever and largest investigation inside pig farms to be presented in Spain. It opened the news cycle that day.

We wanted to show people in the city where we lived what happens inside factory farms so we stood outside for hours showing the images. We couldn’t afford laptops so we chose to make banners instead.

And to save money, we made the banners out of cardboard we found outside clothing stores.

Those times were difficult because there wasn’t more we could do.

Now Mark, I’ll be honest with you, those were challenging times because every night I went to sleep thinking if only we had enough resources to be able to do more for animals.

I imagined what it could be like if we could have better cameras for our investigations or be able to hire a team to support Animal Equality’s missions or if we could meet journalists in an office instead of inside coffee shops.

We learned very quickly that without the time and resources we needed, we couldn’t help animals the way we wanted to.

Today, Animal Equality is a global force with more resources and a team of 100 people, but I still ask myself what more can be done. What else could we achieve?

That’s why people like you are so important. Because we can’t help animals by ourselves. In fact, we’re not even the main component.

The main component in helping animals is you.

Tomorrow I want to share with you a story that’s very important to me. It’s the story of an animal who is very close to my heart. I hope you’ll read it.

Sincerely,

Sharon Núñez

England: Animal rights activists left furious after Defence Secretary Ben Wallace strips them of their right to monitor hunts on MoD land ahead of traditional Boxing Day meets.

With the state of the Conservative Party / Government in relation to (a massive lack of) public support at this current time, one would think they would be attempting to get more public on their side; not lowering their backing even more which this will obviously do. The Boxing Day village / town parades and hunt around the country is the main day of the year when hunts attempt to show their worth to the public. Worth that means nothing – just blood lust fanatics who rip animals to shreds trying justify their existence. Throughout the country, masses of anti hunt supporters and sabs give up part of their Christmas Boxing Day holiday to line villages and towns in opposition to what the hunt is about – killing animals for fun. There are obvious clashes as a result – it can turn nasty and often does.

UK; Live Animal Export Ban Is Progressing Through Parliament.

England – As some of you will know, live animal transportation (from anywhere to anywhere) has always been my No. 1 campaign issue.  I have around 35 years experience of fighting the live trade in the UK and elsewhere.

In the UK there is (December 2022) finally positive news on this; we hope that the ‘Kept Animals Bill’ (which includes the live export ban) will finally be approved within both houses of Parliament in early 2023.

We’re so close to ending live exports in the UK. After a consultation by the UK and Welsh Governments earlier, the UK Government has confirmed the end of live animal exports in the UK for fattening and slaughter as part of the Kept Animals Bill. The Kept Animals Bill is progressing through Parliament.

An outright ban of this kind on live animal exports is stronger than some animal welfare experts had expected the government to propose – although one MP who’s campaigned on this issue for years (and was delighted) told me he didn’t care how the practice ended, just that it did.

With positive hopes; I will report more on this when I get more news;

Sometimes, campaigns take a while to win – but if you have tenacity, then …….

USA: 10 States Which Have Now Banned The Sale of Cosmetics Which Are Tested On Animals.

New York became the tenth state to ban the sale of cosmetics tested on animals after Gov. Kathy Hochul signed a measure into law Thursday evening.

The law, known as the New York Cruelty-Free Cosmetics Act, prohibits the sale and manufacturing of cosmetics that have been tested on animals. It is slated to go into effect in January 2023.
