Germany: illegal killing of a she-wolf

Criminal charges for the killing of a she-wolf

On the night of February 11, a wolf was killed in the Osnabrück-Emsland region of Lower Saxony (Germany) with the permission of the state (!!!)

According to Lower Saxony’s Environment Minister Olaf Lies, the so-called “Herzlaker wolf pack” based there is said to have torn sheep over a long period of time. The animal that was shot is a she-wolf.
The exemption, however, related to a male animal (!!!)

Strafanzeige wegen Tötung einer Wölfin

At the end of last week, PETA filed a criminal complaint with the Oldenburg public prosecutor’s office against those responsible – including the unknown hobby hunter and officials.

In addition to the current killing of the she-wolf without specific permission, the animal rights organization fundamentally criticizes wolf killings because it only protects the economic interests of the sheep farmers.

“According to the Lower Saxony state government, wolves should die so that shepherds do not suffer any financial losses.
That is a highly unethical motive.
The shepherds are not concerned with the welfare of the animals.
The supposed idyll on the pasture must not hide the fact that sheep are almost always violently killed in the slaughterhouse – with everything that goes with the animal industry: animal transports, failed stunning, fear, and pain.
The shooter’s permission to hunt must be withdrawn immediately, as he is apparently unable to distinguish a female from a male.
There are numerous case studies in which hunters shot away even though they could not make sure that it was the right animal. “
(Dr. Edmund Haferbeck, head of the Law and Science Department at PETA).

Hunters see wolves as “competitors”

In PETA’s opinion, the special permit for the shooting in Lower Saxony violated the provisions of the Federal Nature Conservation Act and the Animal Welfare Act.
The organization points out that some hunters, farmers, and politicians want the wolf to lose its protected status and to be included in hunting law as a huntable animal species.

The hunters claim that native wildlife lacks natural enemies such as the wolf, while hunters kill them themselves.

Predators are often viewed and pursued by hobby hunters as competition.
For farmers, on the other hand, protective measures mean additional costs or effort – and there is no longer any profit to be made from wracked animals that would otherwise have been forcibly killed in the slaughterhouse.

https://wildbeimwild.com/law-order/strafanzeige-wegen-toetung-einer-woelfin/43228/2021/02/26/

And I mean…It is basically the hunters who, for whatever reason, want to get the wolf free to shoot.
The wolf is listed as an excess to be reduced, as the individualized evil, as the suspiciously guilty party that needs to be destroyed.

Whole packs even disappear just like that from the scene: the wolf is Targeted at any place, at any time, on the basis of secret criteria and secret evidence, which are classified as necessary in secret procedures by unknown and largely anonymous persons in charge, without any scientific foundation, without any evidence.

Wild animals make up just 3% of the total biomass of land vertebrates on earth!
The rest is “useful” animals + human animals!

According to the German Federal Statistical Office, an average of more than two million animals are slaughtered here every day ”.
Per day!
“150 billion animals are slaughtered worldwide every year, 4756 per second …”

So, the criminal is not the wolf, but the meat and dairy industry, in which the small farmers are (also) involved.

The predators do not practice any environmentally damaging factory farming, they either eat what is there or starve to death.

Germany is the country where a pitiful minority of 388,000 hunters (0.45% of the population) have turned the forest, lake, and the rest of our nature into a shooting range and that with the support of the state ministers and politicians …

The hunting world is much worse than we can imagine.

My best regards to all, Venus

Free Xuan and Mo from a life in darkness Dear Mark, We are still in shock. Never have we seen more cruel bear keeping conditions.

Since they were cubs, Xuan and Mo have been kept in a windowless basement of a shop. No light, no fresh air, nothing but the rusty bars of their tiny barren cages. They are so desperate to get out.

A life in darkness

Some days ago, we visited the bears to talk to the owner and see if there is any possibility of us rescuing them. To take pictures, the room had to be illuminated with flashlights to see the cages and the animals at all. It was hard to breathe because the air reeked of faeces.

The only time Xuan and Mo get to see light is when their owner comes to feed them or worse: puncture their gallbladder with a needle, a painful procedure to extract their bile. This bile was then used for medicinal purposes by the family of the owner.

A life in darkness

No light, no ventilation or fresh air, nothing but the rusty bars of tiny barren cages. Kept in a windowless and wet basement since they were cubs, bears Xuan and Mo have suffered unimaginably.

The only time they get to see light is when their owner comes to feed them or worse: puncture their gallbladder with a needle, a painful procedure to extract their bile. This bile was used for medicinal purposes by the family of the owner. For years these bears have known nothing but pain and abuse. Without our help, Xuan and Mo will go through this cruelness until the end of their life.

Our team is still shocked by what they discovered in Son La Province, Vietnam. These keeping conditions are one of the worst we’ve ever seen. We have to get them out as soon as possible. Will you join this mission and support their rescue?

They deserve so much more in life

At our BEAR SANCTUARY Ninh Binh, they could get all the care and time they need to recover from the horrors they have endured. There, they could discover for the first time what a species-appropriate life for bears can look like. But we can’t rescue them without you.

The fate of Xuan and Mo depends on your donation. Will you help us to rescue them?

From wherever you are reading this, you can join their rescue mission now. With your support, we will bring them to our BEAR SANCTUARY Ninh Binh and give them the life they deserve.

Helping them will only take 3 minutes – can they count on you?

Kind regards,

The FOUR PAWS team

Italy and the United Kingdom ban foie gras-excellent!

The United Kingdom will ban the import of foie gras and 13 large Italian supermarkets have decided to stop selling this product, considered by the EU as harmful, due to the mistreatment it entails for animals.

While the production of foie gras is illegal in the UK as a cruel practice, the country still imports approximately 200 tonnes of the product from abroad each year.

However, after fierce campaigns by animal rights organizations, the import of foie gras to the UK will finally be banned in a new post-Brexit law.

Animal Welfare Minister Lord Goldsmith has confirmed that he plans to introduce a ban on imports to the UK “in the next few months”.

Lord Goldsmith tweeted: “Foie gras is unbearable barbarism. It’s hard to imagine that anyone can see the process
and still enjoy eating it. “ Before Brexit, the UK was subject to laws that considered the product a ‘delicacy’ and integral to French cuisine.

A spokesman for the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs said the foie gras production “raises serious concerns.”

China: Scientists Confirm Wuhan Wet Market Is ‘Most Likely Origin’ Of COVID-19.

Scientists Confirm Wuhan Wet Market Is ‘Most Likely Origin’ Of COVID-19

‘These viruses could convincingly spillover from wildlife into either people or animals farmed in the region’

The most likely origin of the COVID-19 pandemic is still the Wuhan wet market, scientists confirm.

Members of a World Health Organization (WHO) delegation to China recently made the claim in a recent Chatham House briefing.

They also found zero evidence to support theories the disease was deliberately made in a lab. Or, that it was caused by an ‘accidental lab leak’.

‘Most likely’ origin of COVID-19

Dr. Peter Daszak is a zoologist and President of NGO EcoHealth Alliance.

The company says it found ‘a viable conduit’ between the Wuhan wet market and where the ‘closest relatives of COVID-19 are found in bats’.

Dr. Dasszak told the Evening Standard: “It provides a link and a pathway by which these viruses could convincingly spillover from wildlife into either people or animals farmed in the region. And ,then [be] shipped into the market by some means.”

He then suggested the disease came from domesticated or farmed animals which then got into the wet market.

Wuhan wet market

It has been long speculated that the COVID-19 outbreak came from a wet market in Wuhan – where live animals are sold and slaughtered alongside dead ones.

As a result, the United Nations is being urged to ban wet markets around the world

According to Animal Equality: “Wet markets get their name in part from the blood, guts, scales, and water that soak the stalls’ floors, remnants of animals brutally killed so customers can eat freshly killed meat…

“These markets are also a threat to public health,” the charity added. “[They] have been the source of documented disease outbreaks in the past, including SARS…

“It’s because of the public health crises wet markets cause, as well as the intense suffering inflicted on farmed animals, that Animal Equality is urging the United Nations to demand a ban on all wet markets. Not only do these markets pose an immediate danger to humans, they are also intensely cruel to animals.”

USA: MINNEAPOLIS TO GET ITS FIRST VEGAN BURGER CHAIN.

Minneapolis to Get Its First Vegan Burger Chain

WAV Comment – Looks Really Cool !! – Things are really starting to move plant based now. That’s the Future.

MINNEAPOLIS TO GET ITS FIRST VEGAN BURGER CHAIN

New vegan burger chain Stalk & Spade—the first of its kind to open in Minneapolis—will expand nationally through franchising starting this spring.

Next month, vegan fast-casual burger shop Stalk & Spade will open in Wayzata, MN, a suburb of Minneapolis. Created by restaurateur Steele Smiley, Stalk & Spade will feature vegan versions of traditional fast food, such as burgers, cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, French fries, chicken nuggets, and shakes. All recipes were developed by the team after months of testing.

Smiley believes the plant protein concept can be a market leader and plans to build on the Wayzata location by expanding nationally through franchising, starting this spring. “I’m utterly convinced we’ve cracked the code on plant-based burgers. You won’t know the difference,” Smiley told media outlet Twin Cities Business. “I knew the only way people would come is if the food tastes like classic favorites.”

Plant-based eating is the future

A long time vegan, Smiley says his 11-year-old son inspired him to create the plant-based burger concept when, one night, he asked for a burger while eating at Smiley’s salad chain Crisp & Green. “We’re going to look like a national brand from day one: dine in, order ahead, car-side pickup,” Smiley said. “I believe all-plant eating is our future. It’s exciting to be first.”

Great News From Peta ! – China Announces New Cosmetics Regulations Without Animal Testing.

PETA is celebrating great news out of China! Beginning on May 1, the Chinese government will allow companies to apply for an exemption to market most imported “general cosmetics”—such as shampoo, body wash, lotion, and makeup—without the usually required animal testing.

This news comes after our determined campaign that ramped up in 2012, when PETA revealed that some formerly cruelty-free companies had quietly started paying the Chinese government to test their products on animals in order to sell them in China. Hundreds of thousands of animals each year have been subjected to tests in which products were forced down their throats, rubbed onto their raw skin, or applied to their sensitive eyes.

After uncovering this, PETA funded training for Chinese scientists in the use of non-animal methods. This work is paying off!

Read more about this breakthrough here. Please continue to support 100% cruelty-free companies when purchasing personal-care products by referring to our Beauty Without Bunnies database of more than 5,200 compassionate companies and brands that don’t test on animals anywhere in the world.

While you’re here, please do more for animals in labs:

devaluation…

The problem is not the individual animal exploiter but the millions of convinced animal exploiters who decide under the fascist privilege of the human race about the life and dignity of an animal.

The devaluation of animals is really so bizarre that it is beyond your imagination.
