why adopt an animal …

While some “animal-loving” people buy expensive dogs,
he is still there…
All he wanted most was to have a family …
Instead he was abandoned and condemned to constant fear, hunger and loneliness.

Never buy an animal.
Adopt! Give an animal a fair, responsible coexistence
They are worth it. In their cleverness, their beauty and their sensitivity.
And in doing so, you correct the crimes that an ignorant, irresponsible society causes.

Anti-poaching campaign in Spain

Report of the “Committee against Bird Murder”

Like every autumn, when the first flocks of thrushes and finches arrive in Spain, bird poaching is once again widespread in the Valencia region.

In the last few days our team has already found several huge traditional trapping systems, so-called “parany”, which are equipped with electronic lures that are played at night and hundreds of thin liming rods.

They are made of old trees, some of which have been used for centuries. They have chimney-like branches that point upwards at the top of the plant.
Between these “fingers” horizontal glue rods are attached.

A tangle of ladders and bridges leads to the top of the facility, where the bird trappers can move over several floors.

On autumn nights, the loud lures lure entire flocks of migratory birds to their doom.

The attracted birds – mainly thrushes, robins, blackcaps and various finches – try to perch on the horizontal poles, get caught on the loose limes and then fall to the ground.
The poachers make their rounds about three times a night and collect the wriggling birds on the ground, or take them out of tensioned nets that they have installed under the trees.

The birds are then picked up with a pad, a kind of landing net, and killed in order to be eaten or traded on the black market as a traditional dish (pajaritos fritos).

During the day, poachers usually use large folding nets to catch finches (similar to Malta).
More than a dozen such sites are currently being investigated and we will report on them in due course.

So far, together with the SEPRONA Guardia Civil (police) and Agents Mediambientals (hunting supervision), we have closed three large Parany systems and confiscated around 2000 liming rods.

https://www.facebook.com/Komitee.CABS/

And I mean..I am always amazed at how it can be that people who may not even be able to read and write seem so inventive and resourceful when it comes to creating criminal works.

Apparently it is not only traditional dishes that are passed down from generation to generation, but also the methods by which defenseless beings are captured, tortured and eaten.

Who can actually decide in how many murders a hunter becomes a psychopath?

A psychopath can be defined as someone who deliberately inflicts harm without remorse.
And when you understand the cynicism with which the unscrupulous defend their crimes, and when you understand that such people dominate the society because they know how to intimidate people, then you come to the conclusion that we don’t just need educators, not just healers , not only people who can complain, but we also need warriors who are willing and ready to fight back.

The only way to treat the hunt is to smash it up.
It is not something what one can discuss.
It’s something that needs to be smashed.

Global progress: skin allergy tests without animal testing

This is what we call true progress: With the pioneering international approval of a unique test method for chemicals, countless animals are spared great suffering in the test laboratory – because the new method does not require a single animal.

It combines various animal-free tests in a formal, predetermined approach to testing chemicals for their potential to cause allergic skin reactions.
The approach can replace the animal experiments currently used for skin allergy testing.
Because in these cruel experiments, animals are shaved off and a chemical is applied directly to their skin.

Allergic dermatitis in a dog – how terrible it must be when the whole body is itchy. (Photo: Wikimedia Commons, Kalumet, CC BY 2.0)

Now that the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has approved the method, they must accept all 38 member states of the Organization for Mandatory Chemical Toxicity Testing.
The EU, USA and Great Britain, among others, are members of the OECD.
That means there is an imminent global move away from animal abuse in skin allergy testing.

Skin allergy tests and animal suffering worldwide

Skin allergy tests lead to various side effects in the animals – for example swelling, blistering and inflammation. After the experiments, the animals are killed and dissected.
In Great Britain alone, hundreds, and in some years even thousands, of animals are abused for skin allergy tests.
Across the EU, there were over 47,000 animals in a single year.

But the new approach doesn’t just replace these cruel tests.
A 2018 study also showed that it delivers results that are more easily transferable to humans than previous animal experiments.

A win-win situation for animals and humans!

PETA’s science team has hosted several webinars on using higher quality animal-free methods of skin allergy testing.

And I mean…Animal experiments always have faces…
Mainly rodents, especially mice and rats, are used for the excruciating experiments, but rabbits, dogs and cats also have to sacrifice their lives for what we believe to be completely useless and ethically reprehensible tests.

In the skin allergy test, the test substance is injected into the skin of guinea pigs in order to sensitize the immune system to the substance. If repeated contact with the chemical triggers an allergic reaction, painful inflammation and peeling of the skin are the result.

We welcome the decision to use this animal-free test procedure.
These procedures are not only cheaper, they also take medicine much further.
Animal testing only slows medical advancement because of its false results.

More and more advanced testing procedures will become common practice.
The aim of all efforts is to achieve a worldwide ban on animal testing.

One thing is certain, however: the fate of laboratory animals as a whole will only change through the active and tireless commitment of animal welfare organizations, animal rights activists and supporters.
Together we can completely abolish cruel and useless animal experiments and achieve humane, effective research.

EU: European Parliament AGRI Committee Vote FAILS To Promote Animal Welfare.

European Parliament AGRI Committee vote fails to promote animal welfare

27 October 2021

In a disappointing move for animals, the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development of the European Parliament adopted draft implementation report by Jeremy Decerle (Renew Europe, FR) on on-farm animal welfare.

Contradicts Farm To Fork

The report calls for future EU-wide animal welfare legislation that would be uniformly transposed in all Member States, but falls short of the Farm to Fork (F2F) ambition for a strong, improved animal welfare acquis with a broad revision of all existent regulations and directives.

Concentrates on economic interests of farmers

Whilst it promotes the European Citizens’ Initiative to end the cage age, it continuously refers to farmers’ compliance with animal welfare standards as an “extra burden”.

WAV Comment – Burden !!!

Promotes further cruel production of foie gras

A disappointing amendment downplaying the intensivity and suffering of animals subjected to foie gras production wriggled its way into the report. The amendment claims that foie gras production respects animal welfare criteria.

WAV Comment – RESPECTS animal welfare ! – what planet do you people come from ?

An overtly contradictory statement considering ducks and geese subjected to foie gras production are force fed and their bodies pushed beyond their biological parameters, resulting in intense pain, fear and suffering.

Amendments addressing the tragic practice of killing male chicks were also voted down.

Labelling remains voluntary

Labelling is a fundamental tool to ensure farmers receive fair compensation for improved animal welfare measures on farms and enable consumers to purchase products that align with their animal welfare ethics. A mandatory “Method of Production +” (MOP+) label across all animal products and including rearing, transport and slaughter is key. Unfortunately, MEPs decided to let the labelling of animal products remain voluntary, leaving dangerous room for manoeuvre to farmers and the industry.

Despite being a report on “on-farm animal welfare”, it does not go the distance to reflect its title. Instead, it tries to sugarcoat the realities of the changes that truly need to be implemented. We need farmers to be ambitious and take a main role in implementing the F2F goals. The report will be voted on in plenary, possibly during the December session.

So; get out of the EU and make your own national legislation !

Spain: Open petition to save Galgos in Spain.

Open petition to save galgos in Spain

26 October 2021

AnimaNaturalis

A new petition has been launched in Spain to demand equal protection for all animals, including galgos.

The Spanish greyhound is a breed used both for hunting and for racing in different regions of Spain, especially in Andalusia, Castilla La Mancha and Castilla y León.

It is estimated that around 50,000 greyhounds and other hunting dogs are abandoned in Spain annually, with 5,000 abandonments in Seville alone.

There is a pressing need to address the problem through new animal protection legislation.

The petition ‘Save the Galgos’, launched by AnimaNaturalis, aims to:

Achieve a state animal welfare framework law that ensures maximum protection for these animals, and the modification of the animal protection laws of each Autonomous Community, as well as tougher penalties for neglect and abuse;

Make sure that “rehalas” (groups of between 16 to 40 hunting dogs) are no longer considered objects of “cultural interest”, eliminating all public subsidies intended to promote this practice;

Prosecute the mistreatment and abandonment of these animals so that no case goes unpunished before the law;

Ban the training of greyhounds tied to motor vehicles.

The petition is nearing its goal of achieving 10,000 signatures in support of the initiative.

France: New investigation from L214 in a French slaughterhouse reveals serious abuse.

New investigation from L214 in a French slaughterhouse reveals serious abuse

27 October 2021

L214

Today, L214 unveils a new investigation conducted in a French slaughterhouse of the Bigard Group (which owns the Bigard, Socopa and Charal brands), leader in bovine meat production in France and Europe.

Thomas Saïdi, an investigator from L214, applied for a position as a health officer within the official veterinary services of the slaughterhouse. These are the services that are supposed to control the respect of sanitary and animal protection rules. He was hired without any experience or qualificationThomas filmed a part of the chain, from the arrival of the animals in the slaughterhouse to their killing and the first cuts.

He witnessed serious shortcomings of the veterinary services, numerous breaches of regulations leading to acute yet avoidable animal suffering.

Thomas decided to testify openly.

In his testimony, Thomas shows:

  • That hygiene and sanitary controls (including ritual slaughter controls) were performed without training
  • The lack of staff for veterinary inspection and the sporadic controls
  • Serious regulatory violations and avoidable animal suffering
  • Calf fetuses of all ages arriving on the slaughter line daily (about 50 per day) while regulations prohibit the transport of cows beyond 90% of the gestation.

L214 will file a complaint for serious abuse with a prosecutor as well as a liability claim against the French State for failure to fulfill its mission of controlling the application of the regulations.

L214 has also launched a petition asking the government to ban the killing of pregnant cows, at least during the last trimester of gestation.

In this petition, L214 also asks :

  • That the operations of immobilisation, stunning, slaughter and killing of animals be truly placed under the continuous surveillance of inspection service agents, as required by the regulations,
  • That infractions are sanctioned and that slaughterhouses are forced to put an end to them without delay.

In addition, this investigation proves once again the urgent need to make pre-cut stunning mandatory, to spare animals severe and prolonged suffering.

For Thomas Saïdi, investigator from L214:

The images I shot are harsh, but they are necessary at a time when it is forbidden to reveal what happens inside slaughterhouses without any logic of confidentiality, competition or security being at stake (…)”

For Sébastien Arsac, spokesperson for L214:

The Bigard Group does everything to make people forget the animals behind the meat. When you see the images from inside, you understand why! But the consumers who buy the group’s products (the brands Charal, Bigard or Socopa) have the right to know (…) With the presidential elections just a few months away, this is a good time to open our eyes to the savagery of our society towards animals and to rethink the relationship we want to have with them.

France wants to abolish dolphinariums, wild animals in the circus and fur farms

Why French government agreement marks historic day for animal welfare

Circus show with bear-France

Animal protection groups celebrate decision to ban sales of puppies and kittens in pet stores and the use of wild animals in travelling circuses (but not for seven years) and more.

MPs and senators agreed on the terms of a new animal welfare law on October 21 meaning improved safeguards for animals will soon be legalised in France.
These include:

– a gradual ban on use of wild animals in circuses with a ban on breeding such animals coming into place in the next two years and a total ban on their use in travelling circuses in seven years

– use of whales and dolphins in aquariums will be banned within five years

– a ban on American mink farming and farming of other animals for their fur

– a ban on selling puppies and kittens in pet stores from January 1, 2024 and on displaying animals in pet store windows

harsher penalties for people caught mistreating animals

– new rules for people who wish to buy pets including the signature of a certificate stating that the new owner is aware of the responsibilities involved

– more regulations for animal sales online

French animal welfare groups celebrate ‘historic day’

Animal welfare groups have responded positively to the news.

La Fondation Brigitte Bardot said in a tweet: “It’s an historic day for animals in France!”

Convergence Animaux Politique said the law was “ambitious” and responded to a “significant number” of demands from NGOs.

However, some said that there was still work left to do. The Parti Animaliste said the new law was “historic” but “there still remains the fight against intensive farming, industrial fishing, hunting and bullfighting”.

Previous agreements of the decree have been delayed as senators on the right wanted to maintain rights for travelling circuses and aquariums to keep wild animals, dolphins and whales.

But yesterday Minister for Ecological Transition, Barbara Pompili, praised senators and MPs who “overcame their differences to make this agreement”.

Circus show with elephant-France

She said: “Today is a big day because taking a stand for animal wellbeing is the mark of a society that is aware of its responsibility to nature.”

Ms Pompili said the next steps were to clarify support for professionals, such as circus owners and farmers, to help them implement the law, including financial aid.

Prime Minister Jean Castex tweeted: “Animal wellbeing is a major concern for our citizens. I share the pride of all in parliament who have made this law possible.”

The French government will set up a package worth eight million euros to provide other jobs for workers in traveling circuses and marine theme parks.

And I mean…Yes, there is still a lot to do against foie gras, cooking live lobsters, as well as frogs, snails, pigeons and other animals as delicacies in the kitchen … but at least a step has been taken in the right direction!
Experience has shown us that small steps often have a big impact.
Because many, many French abhor cruelty to animals and fight for animal rights.

It would be good if the coming government of Germany would take its neighbor as an example
Thanks!

“America’s doctor” Anthony Fauci: America’s Mengele

Why did it take an old story about horrific dog experiments to convince people that it’s time to #ArrestFauci?

The rediscovery of a series of grisly experiments on beagle puppies has galvanized social media users into demanding the arrest of “America’s doctor” Anthony Fauci.
But where was everyone when his work was harming humans?

Images of a sad pair of beagle puppies, their heads encased in square cages as they lie hopelessly on a table, have yanked at America’s heartstrings since they were shoved back into the national spotlight by White Coat Waste Project, a group that calls out US government labs for animal cruelty and other misuse (and abuse) of citizens’ money.

Millions of taxpayer dollars were used to essentially torture the puppies to death in labs in and out of the US, according to the organization, which unearthed evidence of the cruelty in the form of over $21 million spent on a total of four experiments – none of which was medically necessary.

One involved severing 44 puppies’ vocal cords so that their pained barking and whining wouldn’t bother the scientists; another deliberately infected them with sand flies over the course of 22 months, restricting their movements by locking their heads in boxes so that they could not even swat the insects away as they were being eaten alive.

The White Coat Waste Project claims the NIAID provided a $375,800 grant to a lab in Tunisia to drug beagle puppies and locked their heads in mesh cages so sand flies could eat the dogs filled with hundreds of infected sand flies

The White Coat Waste Project claims the NIAID provided a $375,800 grant to a lab in Tunisia to drug beagle puppies and locked their heads in mesh cages so sand flies could eat the dogs filled with hundreds of infected sand flies

It’s horrific stuff by any measure, beyond cartoonish levels of evil. Indeed, even Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R) claimed he thought the tweets he’d read about Fauci “literally ‘torturing puppies’” had to be “metaphorical.”

“I saw several tweets about this and assumed it was metaphorical. Surely Fauci wasn’t literally “torturing puppies.”My assumption was incorrect”. https://t.co/pTY6JueJCA
— Ted Cruz (@tedcruz) October 24, 2021

But while the outrage is justified, it’s also old news.
One could ask why the masses have turned against Fauci only now, when his National Institute for Allergies and Infectious Diseases has been funding the torture of puppies for years, with one of the horrific experiments dating from 2016.

Italy- Yes! let’s abolish hunting!

The “Yes, to Abolish Hunting” committee announced that the necessary 500,000 signatures have been collected.

Hobby hunting with all its misery is to be banned for good in Italy.

President Tony Curcio: “If all goes well, we will vote next spring”.

On Saturday, October 23, 2021, the 500,000 signatures required to start the process of validating the referendum question were reached.
This milestone was set on July 1, 2021 when environmental and animal rights activist organizations decided to set out to bring the issue back into the focus of public debate.

The ball now lies with the Court of Cassation, which has to check the validity of the applications and then appeals to the Constitutional Court to check whether they are constitutional.

“We are happy to have achieved a goal of this magnitude, it was difficult, but we made it”.
This is how Tony Curcio commented on the news to fattoquotidiano.it.

“At first we thought it would be easier to get to this point, but without proper media coverage we just had to work through word of mouth and things got complicated,” said the activist.
Hence his “thanks to the more than 1,500 volunteers who have contributed to this important result”.

As far as the next steps are concerned, Curcio’s path is clear: “Next Saturday we will submit the collected signatures to the Supreme Court, which will check the validity of the signatures.
Then it is the turn of the Consulta to comment on the text “.

In the event of a positive result, it is hoped that the vote can take place next spring.
We hope that it will be held at the same time as the other referendums under discussion, because a possible election day could indirectly bring us more support.

Camouflage hunting in Northern Italy

As the President of the Comitato Sì Aboliamo La Caccia emphasized, the referendum is not only about the ethical question of respect for the life of animals, but also about the other damage caused by hunting:
“Every year, many people are accidentally injured or killed by hunters, and pets are more likely to be affected.”

“And not only that”, says Curcio: “We also have to think about the pollution caused by lead from cartridges, which is deposited on the ground and in some cases gets into the groundwater and contaminates it.”

Anti-hunting demo – Florence 15.09.2018

This initiative is not the first in this direction.
Another attempt to abolish hunting was made in 1990 when the Radical Party, the Greens, the Communist Party, the Democrazia Proletaria and various ecological associations proposed two referendums aimed at restrict regulations on hunting and hobby hunters’ access to private property.
However, both failed due to a lack of support.

https://wildbeimwild.com/tierrechte/italien-referendum-zur-abschaffung-der-jagd-steht/54580/2021/10/26/

And I mean…An initiative of reason and morality.
Hunting means the worst crimes against defenseless animals and therefore goes against ethics, solidarity and common sense

In the 2018/19 hunting season there were 80 human victims in Italy.
The highest number of hunting accidents occurred in the Campania region in southwest Italy with 15 victims.
And although there are fewer and fewer hunters in Italy, they are still privileged by politics, especially the PD (partito democratico italiano) and the Lega.

Gun lobby- Italy

It’s an old story. The hunters have an influence, but also the arms industry with its lobbyists in parliament and in the regions.
Hunter and arms industry = A deadly mixture that damages nature, massacres animals and kills people.

We are hopeful that the sensitivity towards animals is much greater today than it was in the past.
Just look at the increase in vegetarians and vegans.
So now is the time ripe for the abolition of hunting.

My best regards to all, Venus
