Peni and his mother

Affenmutter, angekettetjpg

This is the little orangutan boy Peni and his mother. They are victims of deforestation.
They were evicted from their homes because their palm oil habitat was destroyed. Excavators have driven them out!

Orang-Utan-aus-dem-Urwald_article

They fled and were hungry, so out of desperation they came to a village of people.

There they were captured and tied up.

Manor rather a remarkable depiction of the worst of our speciestook only 16 years to destroy half of the orangutans on the island of Borneo!

orang-utan-das-eu-elend

Not until March did a small baby orangutan die of hunger after the mother was shot with 74 bullets.
For three days, the lumberjacks chased the orangutan mother and shot her straight in the eye. The animal went blind, because the poachers shot targeted at his eyes. The doctors found four bullets in the left eye and two in the right.

Nevertheless, and luckily, Gamekeepers who found them were able to save the adult but not the one month old baby. It died of an infection caused by malnutrition because his mother could not breastfed him anymore.

The little Peni is lucky, they were rescued by the NGO International Animal Rescue, which also works in Indonesia!
It breaks our heart when you have to look at these pictures.

My comment: Man does not evolve.
Obviously, a moral change in the consciousness of the human species is not subject to an evolutionary autopilot.
In other words, what we did not understand centuries ago can not be understood today too.

That animals are not our slaves, not our food, not our torture objects.

We no longer burn witches, because the term is abolished.
We do not gas any Jews in crematoria because criminal racism is prohibited
We do not throw away disabled children, as in Sparta, because children have rights.
And yet: one still lives on the tree in terms of morality towards the animals
Underdeveloped, smug assholes, that’s us.

2000 piglets burned alive!

Germany

“On the 21st of April, Easter Sunday, two stables with thousands of pigs have gone up in flames in Klein-Wanzleben, district in Saxony (Germanx) The cause of the fire in the pig farm is still unclear. It was also unclear whether the animals burned or suffocated on the gases. The smoke column was temporarily seen from 20 kilometers away.

brand in Sachsen

The buildings are in full bloom, said Enrico Grube from the police station Börde. In the total of nine pig farms, it is estimated that between 45 000 and 75 000 pigs are housed – more exact figures are not available.”

This is the press release, and it was the same to read in all newspapers. More time and space have not been wasted on this tragic accident.

How many pigs are housed in a fattening system, we learn when, for example, a fire breaks out.
According to police, between 45,000 and 74,000 animals are housed in the stables.
The plant consists of a total of nine stable buildings.
Around 2000 piglets could not be saved, they were burned alive.
Fattening pigs, gilts, sows and piglets are kept.

Sachsen schweinefabrikG

It was only last year that 109 of 180 piglets died in an animal transport in the region because the transporter was overloaded.
Did you know that the small piglets from different countries are being carted to Germany? More than 16 million pigs are imported from abroad each year to Germany.

56.6 million pigs are slaughtered in Germany, because Germany is one of the largest meat exporters in the world.

Farma Schweine-grausame Bilder_nMany pigs do not make it to the slaughterhouse, they already die before. Can you imagine that? between 45,000 and 74,000 animals on a pig farm? And in addition in such a fattening plant with 60,000 pigs a fire broke out, in which 2000 piglets died!!!

Jungsauenhalle.jSachsenpg

Do you still remember Adrianus Straathof? He ran six in Saxony-Anhalt alone pig breeding farms.
After heavy criticism on the basis of the conditions in Gladau (Saxony) determined 2013 the public prosecutor’s office. Straathof has been in the criticism of the conditions in the piglet factory Gladau for some time. The Dutchman was convicted of forced and fined € 2.1 million. Did he ever pay?

adrianus-straathof-
End of 2014 then the message: Animal husbandry ban for pig Baron Straathof! In addition: If the case becomes final, this could be the turn in factory farming.
But there was no turning point in mass animal husbandry, as you can see from the current case in the pig farm in Saxony that 45,000 to 74,000 pigs are still kept.

Saxony-Anhalt seems to be a “pig country”, where Easter Sunday broke out in a pig farm in Klein Wanzleben a fire and 2000 piglets had to give their lives.

The animal rights organization ARIWA, through undercover investigations in 2015 and in the same place, found that there were serious, unavoidable animal welfare violations in the local farms. The animals there suffer in a way that we humans can hardly imagine. (we are still talking about the same farm!!)

As in other documented cases, the sows are fixed motionless for weeks in such small crates that they can not even stretch out their legs when lying down. Shelter stalls do not provide drinking water for the thirsty animals.

Boars are illegally locked in physical cages. At some crates, faeces and urine can not run off, so that these clean sows must smear with their own excrement.

A gilts hall is lit neon-bright around the clock – a method used by people for torture. As in so many other installations, the regulatory offenses are piling up in such a way that they result in crimes against the Animal Welfare Act. These could be easily punished with a withdrawal of animal husbandry or even with imprisonment.

kastenstand-kot-und-urin-laufen-nicht-ab Sxhweine in Sachsen

In addition, the plant also illustrates the countless quite legal animal cruelty in German livestock farming.

An example: gilts, which are not yet old enough for an economically worthy insemination, can be fixed completely legally in box stalls indefinitely, without possibility to move. Because the animal protection ordinance prescribes that sows may be in the crate stall for a maximum of 28 days after insemination.

For inseminated sows but the regulation does not regulate this point. This applies to gilts as well as sick sows or those who do not get pregnant in the crate despite insemination or lose their fetuses within the first four weeks.

All these sensitive animals may be locked indefinitely in the crate stall at the pet owner’s discretion. The pictures from the plant show a large hall full of gilts, which have been fixed motionless for months in this way. Here it is confirmed that loopholes of animal owners are exploited as soon as there is an economic interest behind it. Even if it means unbelievable suffering for the animals. Which, how we know, no one interested in the slaughterhouse.

The question that arises: is Adrianus Straathof still active? On January 16, 2015, there was a change in the management of the District Court Potsdam :
Managing Director of GLAVA GmbH: Heidrun Spengler-Knappe · No longer Managing Director: Adrianus Gerardus Maria Straathof!

And if we continue our research, we will return to the pig baron Straathof, who has been active in Hungary since 2018, near the border with Croatia and Serbia.

https://netzfrauen.org/2019/04/22/schweinemast/

My comment: The terrible pictures in video with the illegal housing conditions for the animals come from the fattening farm  which at that time belonged to the pig-baron Straathof.
Whether today the same plant, where 2000 lives were burned alive, still belongs to this criminal, we do not know.

And it’s not easy to find out.

Because this corrupt system operates hand in hand with the meat mafia and with all those who are actually the pillar of this system. Animal abusers, environmental criminals, meat and hunting mafia all of these are well protected by the system.

Was not it, that the lawsuit against the lab-torturer Logothetis from the laboratory in Tübingen was annulled?
Was not it,  that the murderer of Lioness Cecil, Parker, never stood trial?
Was not it, that Dog Hucher’s mafia boss in Romania, Barbulescu, did – and does still – his criminal business with EU funds?

We all, and especially the animals are at the mercy of these criminals.

My best regards, Venus

Vietnam: 2 Little Performing Circus Bears Have Now Been Rescued and Taken to the Animals Asia Facility. Watch the Rescue Video Here.

Vietnam flagge

Regarding our recent post about 2 little bears who were being abused in a Vietnamese circus:

https://worldanimalsvoice.com/2019/04/24/vietnam-24-4-19-breaking-rescue-operation-to-free-two-endangered-bear-cubs-from-vietnamese-circus-begins-following-animals-asia-expose/

Well we can now provide an update from Animals Asia – the little bears have been removed from the Circus, given a health check by AA and have now been moved on to their sanctuary. Very rapid responses and actions by the brilliant Animals Asia – thanks to them once again.

Cubs Sugar and Spice were rescued after Animals Asia investigators discovered them being forced to perform on stage in downtown Hanoi, Vietnam.

An Animals Asia rescue team successfully freed two female moon bear cubs from Central Circus in downtown Hanoi, Vietnam after the authorities confirmed they were being held illegally.

The cubs were transferred to Animals Asia’s award-winning Vietnam Bear Rescue Centre in nearby Vinh Phuc province on Wednesday 24 April, where they immediately entered a quarantine area.

Animals Asia Vietnam Director Tuan Bendixsen said:

“We’re very grateful to the authorities for taking swift action in this case and sending a clear message to circuses around the country that they are not above the nation’s wildlife laws.

“This rescue will be a deterrent to those who would commit wildlife crime, a wake up call for the public who may consider attending an animal circus, and hopefully a catalyst for the government to take a closer look at other facilities around the country using protected and endangered species in their shows.”

The cubs, named Sugar and Spice weigh just 36 and 50 kilogrammes respectively and are believed to be under a year old. A preliminary health check found no serious health problems but Spice was found to have a scar on her wrist – likely from being trapped in the wild – while Sugar had suffered some dental damage.

With no survival skills and no safe forest for release, it is likely the bear cubs will spend the rest of their lives – potentially up to 30 years – in the care of Animals Asia.

At the sanctuary they will have access to large, semi-natural outdoor enclosures filled with trees, grass, climbing frames, swimming pools and rock piles which will keep them stimulated and encourage natural behaviours.

When they are old enough, they will be integrated with an existing community of bear providing even more stimulation for the duo.

While Hanoi’s Central Circus holds many other endangered species, including moon bears, macaques, pythons and an elephant, Animals Asia was unable to rescue these individuals as the circus currently holds legal paperwork for their ownership.

An Animals Asia investigation in 2017 revealed that circuses up and down the country were routinely forcing endangered species to perform while 100% of facilities failed to meet the basic needs of the animals.

Officer Out on Bail for 40 Counts of Dog Sex Abuse Now Arrested for Child Pornography

Yet another disturbing case reveals the strong link between animal cruelty and crimes against humans.

A former police officer in Bossier City, Louisiana was arrested for possession of child pornography while out on bail for multiple acts of sexual abuse against a dog.

US cop abuser

On April 12, Terry Yetman was booked into the Bossier Parish Jail on 31 counts of child pornography. Yetman had previously been arrested on December 20 of last year on 20 felony counts of bestiality and 24 counts of filming the sick acts with a retired police dog.

“Yetman’s second arrest for sickening abuse of the vulnerable should come as no shock to anyone involved in law enforcement or animal protection,” stated Doll Stanley, campaign director for In Defense of Animals. “Yetman’s case is a classic example of how animal abusers are a threat to the entire community. Statistics bear out the indisputable fact that acts of animal cruelty and violence to fellow humans are linked.”

An investigation was launched in August 2018 by the Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit into the alleged animal abuse, during which electronic evidence of Yetman’s abuse against a Belgian Malinois was uncovered.

The day before Yetman’s arrest for child pornography, In Defense of Animals delivered a petition containing 20,000 signatures to Bossier District Attorney Schuyler Marvin calling for the rigorous prosecution and sentencing of Yetman for these crimes. The organization is also calling for animal protection training among law enforcement agencies throughout the country.

It is unclear whether Yetman was charged under state or federal child pornography laws. He faces a possible life sentence in prison for his animal abuse charges.

Yetman’s bail is currently set at $620,000 and additional charges could be filed. He is currently being held at Bossier Maximum Security Facility, and his next bond hearing is set for April 23.

Judge Dishes Out Triple the Recommended Sentence in Brutal Dog Stabbing Case

Posted by Carly Day | April 26, 2019

A Michigan judge has sentenced an animal abuser to three to six years in prison, triple the recommended sentencing guidelines.

Judge Richard Caretti had initially accepted a plea of no contest from the accused, agreeing to a lower sentence. However, on hearing the gory details of the case, Caretti withdrew the agreement (known as a Cobb’s agreement).

“I cannot in good conscience follow the Cobb’s agreement,” said Carretti. “Any way you view this crime, it’s despicable and reprehensible. In my almost 17 years on the bench, your case is by far the worst, most deplorable example of animal cruelty I’ve ever seen. Sterling would have looked to you for love, shelter, and food. Instead, he was a victim of your unbelievable cruelty.”

County Prosecutors requested a harsher sentence, noting that the penalty for animal cruelty in Michigan had recently increased – but only after this horrific crime took place.

The crime committed by Alexander Gerth was an especially brutal one. After the Michigan Humane Society refused his request to adopt a dog named Sterling, the 23-year-old had a friend adopt the animal for him. Not long after taking possession of Sterling, Gerth viciously stabbed the dog to death and left his body lying in a local park in below-freezing temperatures.

Gerth also admitted to beating and kicking two-year-old Sterling during the short time the dog was in his care.

The case drew the attention of animal lovers across the state, who started a petition calling for the maximum sentence possible. The petition gathered more than 6,500 signatures and likely influenced those involved in prosecuting and sentencing.

County Prosecutor Eric Smith praised the longer sentence, saying it shows that “crimes of this nature will never be tolerated.”

“Sterling has brought great awareness to such a critical issue that troubles us as a society,” said Smith.

On top of the prison sentence, Gerth must cover the autopsy costs of the Michigan Humane Society and is banned from ever owning a dog again.

We thank the prosecutors and Judge Caretti for taking this devastating case of animal cruelty seriously and working to ensure that Gerth can never harm another animal.

Germany: New McDonald’s Vegan Burger to Launch on Monday 29/4.

Germany

german vegan burger

WAV Comment – ‘McDonald’s Germany states that the burger has a “meaty taste”, despite containing no trace of animal by-products’.  As someone who eats vegan because of my ethical concerns for animal welfare; why then do I want a Vegan burger that has a ‘meaty taste’ ? – it is an alternative to meat, so why try and link it to meat ? – I dont want to suffer a ‘meaty taste’.

Under EU regulations, I guess it will soon have to be called a ‘Vegan disc’, rather than a vegan burger.  The EU specialise in wasting time on things like this; yet allow animal abusing transporters to get away with abuses scott free ! – Mark.

McDonald’s has announced the launch of a new vegan burger on its menu in Germany.

This will mark the first time the German franchise of the fast food chain has offered a vegan burger to its customers.

The Big Vegan TS burger consists of a patty made from soy and wheat.

It is served in a classic sesame seed bun, and contains salad, tomato, pickles and red onion.

McDonald’s Germany states that the burger has a “meaty taste”, despite containing no trace of animal by-products.

“Improving for us means that we are brave enough to try new ways,” says Philipp Wachholz, company spokesman for McDonald’s Germany.

The Big Vegan TS burger will be available in all participating McDonald’s branches across the country from Monday 29 April.

It will replace the Veggieburger TS on the main menu and the McMenu, which provides customers with the option to combine food items for special prices.

According to market research company Skopos, as of 2016, there were 1.3 million people following plant-based diets in Germany.

This equates to around 0.016 per cent of the country’s population.

The release of the vegan burger at McDonald’s Germany isn’t the first time the fast food restaurant has made plant-based options available to its customers.

Earlier this year, McDonald’s announced the launch of its first vegan-friendly Happy Meal in the UK, which the company created in partnership with the Vegetarian Society.
