Petition to SIGN: TO STOP THE SLAUGHTER OF AMERICA’S WILD HORSES

America’s iconic wild horses are in grave danger of being sold off to meat slaughterhouses in Mexico and Canada to face torture and brutal death.

U.S. Forest Service has just built a corral for wild horses, and it’s holding 260 animals rounded up from Modoc National Forest in Northern California. The horses’ fates hang in the balance as they may soon be shipped off to foreign slaughterhouses and butchered for meat.

TAKE ACTION

  • Then, email Forest Service Chief Vicki Christiansen at vcchristiansen@fs.fed.us and urge her to stop the killing.

Instead of brutally killing America’s horses, the government should enact cruelty free population control efforts, like reducing births — as well as protect the public land on which these majestic creatures roam free.

We must speak out for the lives of these horses.

Germany: the hunters create the terror they need

germany

In January and February foxes suffer even more than usual under the criminal pursuit of the hunters: Especially in the mating season they are persecuted in so-called “fox weeks” in many places particularly brutal.

“Fox weeks” are several events in hunting areas where terrorism is made on foxes with all available hunting methods.
At the end of such killing action, there are sometimes several dozen foxes “on the line” – many of them are badly damaged, they have shredded  pines, or their guts hanging around smash.

tote füchse bei jagd_nThis is how hunters display the harvest of the fox weeks!

In order to justify this massacre, it is necessary to explain the state of emergency and, ideally, to perpetuate forever, because only then can the murder be legitimized. Therefore, the hunting associations speak of population regulation, sustainability or the protection of wild animals.

So are criminals: they need “enemies” to justify their killings, so they create them!

In Germany every year about half a million foxes are killed by criminal hunters.
Mostly through particularly cruel practices that have already been banned in other countries, such as constuction hunting (Art holes under the ground) manslaughter or hunting with hunting dogs on live foxes.

baujagd

There is no question of a “necessity” of fox hunting:
The experiences from fox-hunting-free areas (Belgium, Geneva) show unmistakably that fox populations regulate themselves without human intervention. Hunting losses, on the other hand, are quickly offset by rising birth rates and immigration.

Last year, such shameless news reached us every day in the media:

– The Hunting Association demands an intensive catching of raccoons
– Hunters demand the hunt for Nile geese
– The Hunting Association pleads for a comprehensive hunt for Greylag Geese
– Hunters call for hunting for pigeons
– The Hunting Association requires “protection” hunting for wolves and wolf-free zones, etc. –

In general, reports from hunting associations and hunters can be found throughout the year, and almost all contain murder claims.

In Germany, 5 million wild animals are shot or bullet-shot every year, killed or cruelly killed in traps.

5 million animals each year – that’s 13,700 every day, 570 per hour, almost 10 animals per minute. Every 6 seconds an animal dies by hunter’s hand!

baujagdTo justify the hunt, advertise platforms with hunting trips: HUNTINGPASSIONSUSTAINABILITY!

One must suffer from a heavy dose of sadism and psychopathy to recognize passion and animal protection on such images!

»From animal murder to human murder is only one step and thus also from animal cruelty to human torture.«

Leo Tolstoy had said so about the hunt.

Illegal experiments with smoking mice!

germany

Rabbits, dogs and monkeys with masks holding a smoking cigarette – many still remember the terrible images of the 60s and 70s. It is hard to believe that such animal experiments – today mainly on rats and mice – are still common.

Here in Germany!

Although population studies on the health hazards of smoking could fill entire libraries, and although modern research methods exist today. And although animal testing for the development of tobacco products in the Animal Protection Act are prohibited.

Smoking is harmful

Although nicotine consumption is declining in Germany, 25% of the population still smoke in 2015. 120,000 people die each year as a result of smoking. These tobacco-related deaths are most often the result of cancer and cardiovascular disease.
90% of lung cancer cases are caused by smoking. Smoking is also the most important cause for the development of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The German Cancer Research Institute estimates the direct and indirect costs of smoking at around € 79 billion a year.

Smoke tests with animals in the past

By the middle of the last century, the negative effects of cigarettes were still dubious.
Because the animals that were forced to smoke, got no cancer or cardiovascular problems. And this result gave more credibility than the results of existing population studies.

The knowledge about the harmfulness of smoking has become more and more comprehensive on the basis of human studies. The United States Department of Health and Human Services has regularly published a report since 1964 that summarizes the current state of knowledge on the effects of nicotine consumption on the basis of human studies.

horrorbild-auf-zigarettenpackung---

At the turn of the millennium, the health risk of tobacco consumption was well known.  But even with the knowledge, animal experiments continued in the 1990s and 2000s. The focus of the former attempts was u.a. on the consequences of passive smoking and the development of lung cancer.

maus in laborjpg

The tobacco giant Philip Morris forced in his office in Cologne in the 2000s rats and mice to smoke to investigate the passive smoking or to test cigarette additives such as vanillin.

Many people are unaware that even today animals continue to suffer and die for tobacco smoke testing. And that, even though the Animal Welfare Act has forbidden since 1986 “animal experiments for the development of tobacco products … in principle”.

Smoke tests on animals in the present

Here is an example of a horror- experiment from the Institute of Anaesthesiological Pathophysiology in Ulm, 2018:
Mice are exposed to the smoke of Roth-Händle cigarettes without filters 5 days a week for 3 weeks. On the first day, the smoke from 4 cigarettes is picked up by a semi-automatic smoke generator and placed in a box. Each smoke lasts 15 minutes. On the second day the number increases to 6 cigarettes, from the 3rd day to 8 cigarettes per day.
One week after the end of the smoke examinations, it is sucked out of some mice so much blood through the vein that the extremely low blood pressure causes a bleeding shock.
After an hour, the blood is mixed with medication. Some of the mice that have already been exposed to cigarette smoke and blood loss get an explosive air wave in the chest that causes lung disintegration.
The few animals that survive these procedures are killed by bleeding. Result: Smoking has a negative effect on severe lung crushing (!!!).

muenster-labormaeuse

Prevention is the best medicine

In addition to nicotine, cigarette smoke contains about 5,000 substances, of which more than 90 have been shown to be carcinogenic or mutagenic. With the tobacco smoke thus a variety of toxins are absorbed through the lungs and distributed throughout the body. That smoking is harmful for the consumer as well as for his fellow human beings (passive smoking), is out of the question today.

skelt der raucht jpg
Then why not fight the evil directly at the root? Research and medicine are almost always focused on mitigation and treatment of the effects of tobacco use. It would be much more effective, however, to focus more on prevention. By eliminating cigarettes, the risk of many illnesses is reduced enormously.

Conclusion

Animal experiments on the development of tobacco products have long been prohibited by law. However, this does not prevent animal research from further exposing animals to cigarette smoke in order to “protect human health”. And that, although now much more meaningful methods are available. As in other biomedical areas, it will continue to adhere to medieval methods.

My comment: The Labor Mafia knows that lung cancer and heart disease have their causes predominantly due to smoking.
Although they know best that only people get cancer from smoking, not animals, they continue to torture defenseless animals for no reason.
And above all, although this test is prohibited by law.
One wonders, where do they get the right to conduct such illegal experiments?
The answer is simple: a disgusting government protects and promotes them!

A puppy was allegedly beaten to death in a shocking case of animal cruelty. The suspect reportedly used a shovel to fatally injure the helpless dog. Demand justice for this innocent animal.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after they received reports of aggravated animal cruelty. Per a concerned citizen, 49-year-old Donald Duran Baker beat a puppy to death with a shovel earlier this month. The citizen witnessed the alleged beating and reported it to authorities days later. It is unclear if the puppy’s body has been discovered and Baker’s motives are unreported at this time.

Deputies arrested Baker and charged him with felony cruelty to an animal. He has been granted a $25,000 secured bond. Sign below to demand that this man receive the maximum penalty possible, if convicted.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney Gregson,

A puppy died after the poor animal was allegedly maliciously beaten. Deputies stated that a shovel was the suspect’s weapon of choice. I demand justice for this poor pup.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office arrested 49-year-old Donald Duran Baker on one charge of felony cruelty to an animal after he allegedly killed a puppy. A concerned citizen contacted deputies and claimed that they witnessed Baker beat the puppy to death with a shovel. It is unclear if the dog’s body was found or what Baker’s alleged motive might have been. Baker has been granted a $25,000 bond and he will face his charge at a later date.

The person who murdered this innocent puppy is a danger to animals and they must be punished. I demand that you seek the maximum penalty in this case.

Spain (Mallorca): Ask For A Ban On Horse Drawn (Tourist) Carriages.

From PeTA UK

Dozens of horses on the Spanish island of Mallorca are forced to pull heavy tourist carriages through busy streets, day in and day out.

Photo PeTA.

Cruel carriage rides like these have already been banned in Oxford, Barcelona, New Delhi, and Tel Aviv – and for good reason. In Mallorca, many horses collapse from exhaustion – especially in summer, when temperatures regularly reach 40 degrees.

Some horses get caught up in noisy traffic, which often leads to accidents. The honk of a car’s horn or even just an insect bite can be enough to trigger their instinct to bolt.

Several cities that prohibit horse-drawn carriage rides instead offer animal- and eco-friendly means of transport such as electric vehicles, which are a much safer way for tourists to explore local sights. There’s no reason why Mallorca can’t do the same.

Mark, horses belong on pastures where they can rest in the shade, move about freely, and interact with members of their own species.

Will you urgently send a message asking Mallorca’s mayors to ban horse-drawn carriages?

SIGN: Justice for Baby Elephant Cruelly Tied Up And Left to Die

Petition Link – https://ladyfreethinker.org/sign-justice-baby-elephant-tied-left-die-cruel-hunter/

PETITION TARGET: Thailand Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment

In a ruthless display of cruelty, a hunter in Rayon, eastern Thailand, tied a one-month-old elephant up with rope and abandoned the helpless animal to die, slowly and excruciatingly.

By the time villagers found the baby, she was starving and could barely stand. The rope cut so deep into her ankle, the skin was dead and the bone exposed. She had gone days or more without a drop of her mother’s milk. Nobody knows how long she was left to suffer, terrified, alone and hungry.

Rescuers — who named the baby Baitong — cut off her foot in a desperate attempt to stop the infection, and tried every other measure to save the weak, injured animal. Sadly, nothing could undo the damage, and Baitong died.

Such brutal treatment of an animal is unacceptable, and authorities must make it clear that committing acts of cruelty and murder against elephants will not be tolerated. Elephants are an endangered species that must be protected — and neither hunters nor anyone else should get away with such vile acts of abuse.

Sign this petition to urge officials of Thailand to investigate this case thoroughly and prosecute all parties involved in the torture and death of this beautiful baby elephant.

EU: Immediate Action Petition – Stop the use of high risk fuels like Palm Oil in the EU that Destroy our Forests and KILL Orangutans. Please Sign Now !

This is a very important petition to urge the European Commission to stop the use of high risk fuels like palm oil in the EU that destroy our forests and kill orangutans.

https://act.wemove.eu/campaigns/no-more-palm-oil-uk

The EU subsidises it as “green biodiesel” even though it’s actually three times worse for climate change than regular diesel because of the deforestation it causes.

We can protect the orangutans and the rainforest from palm oil destruction – but we have to act now. Time is running out! If the Commission does not carry out the commitments made by the EU parliament by February 1, 2019, orangutans may soon become extinct and more of our rainforests will be gone.

Banksy’s street art against cruelty towards animals.

At the end of the video a small child is crying and is shocked by the animation.

Its young mother turns the stroller in the opposite direction and tries to keep her crying child away from the “cruel” reality.

Reality?

In reality they have been in trucks for days!

There is no place to lie. Those who become tired and lie down risk becoming depressed by their fellow sufferers. During the entire transport they are not supplied, drinking nipples are not accessible and this is not provided. This is not possible with the number of animals.

They are transported for hours or days with unknown animals, receive neither food nor water, they are exposed to heat and cold, unknown persons and a strange environment.
They suffer from exhaustion, pain, injuries and have to endure noise, vibration and odor (ammonia, exhaust fumes, gasoline).

Dear mother,
Now, and as early as possible teach your child that ethic never stops with living beings who can feel. A living being that has the ability to feel subjective, to suffer, to rejoice, or to be sad, is a free being that has a value system and the right to life.
Like your crying child.

My best regards, Venus

Key West Looks To Slow Coral Reef Damage With New Sunscreen Ban

Posted by Lisa Blanck | January 21, 2019

A popular South Florida vacation spot is stepping up their environmental stewardship.  City commissioners in Key West just approved the first step toward a city-wide ban on the use of sunscreens containing two substances — oxybenzone and octinoxate — proven harmful to coral reefs.

Photo by David Clode on Unsplash

In addition to being a beautiful home for sea creatures, coral is a living organism.  Among other environmental hazards, oxybenzone and octinoxate have been shown to decrease the reefs’ defense against bleaching.  Coral bleaching occurs when corals get stressed.  They become translucent, or ‘bleached’, and lose their stunning colors.  The colors come from marine algae, which provide the coral with food.  When stressed, the coral expel the algae and subsequently starve to death.

Application of products containing oxybenzone to your skin and than entering water near the reef, in addition to causing bleaching, also damages the corals’ DNA, blocks reproduction and produces sick offspring.  This means that coral populations would be deformed and toxic, and could eventually die off.

The tiny amount of oxybenzone that can severely damage a reef will shock you.  According to a study published in 2015,

‘Serious damage to corals by oxybenzone can start with concentrations as low as the equivalent of one drop of water in six-and-a-half Olympic-sized swimming pools.’

Banning reef-damaging chemicals is an idea that’s picking up steam.  Last year, Hawaii banned the sale or distribution of sunscreens containing oxybenzone and octinoxate, beginning in 2021.  Other vacation spots, including the Western Pacific nation of Palau, have also banned many kinds of sunscreen.  Sunscreen manufacturers are arguing against the bans, saying the sunscreens prevent cancer and that “at this moment, research on sunscreens’ effects on coral is limited.”  But bans should incite manufacturers to review ingredients and undertake product research to meet changing consumer demands.

One Key West commissioner says people could still get a prescription from a doctor for sunscreens that contain the banned ingredients. However, you may choose to simply avoid ones that contains octinoxate; when it penetrates your skin, it has been shown to lead to increased toxicity levels in your body.

Better choices might be products containing zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, or simply wearing protective clothing.  You can find some skin and reef-safe product suggestions here.

Fifty people spoke out about the proposal at the Key West commission meeting, including school children, boat captains and dermatologists.

Report: Fast Food Giants Are Failing to Address Extreme Cruelty to Chickens

Posted by Carly Day | January 19, 2019

World Animal Protection (WAP) has released a shocking report showing that some of the world’s biggest fast-food giants are failing to address the extreme suffering of chickens raised for their meat in factory farms.

The report, entitled The Pecking Order 2018, is the first such study to look into the issue of the welfare of chickens destined for the dinner table.

Nine of the world’s most well-known fast-food producers were included in the assessment (Burger King, Domino’s Pizza Group, Domino’s Inc, KFC, McDonald’s, Nando’s Pizza Hut, Starbucks, Subway), which looked at company policies regarding chicken welfare, any targets and objectives documented by the companies, and the transparency of reporting progress.

Shockingly, these international powerhouse companies, who make enormous profits from killing hundreds of millions of chickens each year, are doing very little to ensure the animals in their supply chain receive even minimal welfare standards at factory farms or slaughterhouses.

None of the companies rated higher than “Poor” on  WAP’s assessment scale. Not a single one has a worldwide policy for improving chicken welfare; in fact, only three even show an interest in the issue — Burger King, Starbucks, and Subway — however, they only focus on limited regions or countries.

McDonald’s, KFC, Pizza Hut, and Nandos were rated as “Very Poor,” while Domino’s Inc and Dominos PLC failed altogether.

“It is deeply disappointing that not one company that relies on chickens for profits received a grade above poor for animal welfare,” said Alesia Soltanpanah, executive director of WAP US. “Of the ten billion animals raised and killed for food every year in the United States, 90 percent are chickens, and these companies have the ability to have a major impact on the living conditions of these animals.”

With such massive exploitation of animals for consumption, these companies have tremendous power to change the lives of these birds for the better. WAP is asking them to avoid sourcing caged chickens and give the animals a more natural and stimulating environment in which to display natural behaviors.

They also urge companies to use birds that have a healthier growth rate. As farmers adapt to meet increased demands, they select breeds that grow too quickly and suffer from numerous health issues as a result, including pain and lameness, as well as strain on the heart and lungs.

“The findings of the inaugural Pecking Order report leave much room for improvement,” continued Soltanpanah.  “The companies ranked, including seven US-based brands, have a responsibility to consumers and the animals in their care to give these chickens a better life.”

In the meantime, we consumers have the power to stop the suffering by leaving chicken off of our plates and choosing cruelty free, plant-based foods, instead.
