Bear Cub Stuck in Plastic Jug for Three Days

Just days after reporting on the devastating viral photo of a deer in Spain with its head trapped in a plastic jug, we received heartbreaking reports of a male bear cub in Maryland that suffered from the same fate.

Luckily for the 100-pound black bear, the Maryland Department of Human Resources – Wildlife & Heritage Service were able to locate the animal, tranquilize him and remove the jar — but only after the terrified animal spent three days stumbling around, unable to eat or drink.

The cub — affectionately nicknamed “Buckethead” by rescuers — was reunited with his mother and sibling once he recovered.

Although this case was resolved without any loss of life or injury, it is a sobering reminder of the huge impact that careless human behavior has on precious wildlife.

The tragedy of plastic trash in the world’s oceans is well documented, taking the lives of thousands of marine mammals and fish every year, but our waste problem isn’t limited to the sea; there are increasing cases of land mammals dying from our trash habits every year.

Two Oceans Aquarium report that half of the camels that die on the Arabian Peninsula every year perish due to health issues caused by consuming plastic bags. This year, an Indian elephant died after eating plastic shopping bags and several reindeer in Norway were killed after becoming entangled in discarded fishing nets.

Not only are these kinds of death unnecessary, but they are also often protracted and painful. Some animals — like the black bear in our story — get trapped in plastic and may be unable to eat or breath, or become entangled in waste materials which cause injuries, infection and a slow death. Others ingest trash, causing impaction and starvation.

Plastic is an epic, worldwide problem that must be dealt with before it’s too late. Data tells us that shoppers in the United States use an average of one plastic bag per person every day, as opposed to progressive countries like Denmark, where each person uses an estimated four plastic bags per year.

The cases that we see are only the tip of the iceberg, and it’s up to every individual to act now to start making a difference, starting in our own backyard.

Spain: On The Subject Of Torturing Bulls ….

16 People, Including 4 Children, Injured at Spanish Bullfighting Festival

Sixteen people were injured last week in the Badajoz province of Extremadura, Spain after one of the animals destined for use in a bullfighting festival escaped from its enclosure. Among the injured were four children, ranging in age from only 18 months to six years. Five of the injuries — including those of a four-year-old boy — were serious enough to warrant a trip to the hospital. The fate of the bull involved in the incident is unclear.

This is the latest in a recent string of horrific injuries associated with the “traditional” torture of bulls throughout the country. In July this year, 28 people were injured at the San Fermin running of the bulls festival in Pamplona.

This week, deeply shocking footage was released of a bull dragging itself along the ground after breaking both its back legs during a festival in Spain.

There is very little legislation surrounding this horrific blood sport in the country; many of the nation’s animal welfare laws don’t apply, as the practice is protected by law under the  Spanish Constitution as part of “the right to literary, artistic, scientific and technical production and creation.”

Different areas such as Catalan and the Balearic Islands have attempted to introduce legislation banning bullfighting, or add measures to protect the bulls, but these cases are yet to be decided by the courts.

While Spain’s government debate the cultural value of this archaic and torturous sport, bulls and humans alike will continue to be injured and die due to these inhumane interactions.

It’s time to stop talking about it and take action. Join the 15,000 people who have signed our petition calling for a ban on bullfighting today.

“Burning bull”: the resurrection of the Middle Ages.

Spain

In the second week of November, each year takes place a torture act in the city of Medinaceli, in Spain, which reminds us strongly of the Middle Ages.

Toro jubilo-n-jpg

Tar lumps are glued to the horns of a bull, and then the mob sets fire on it.
“Toro de Fuego” – the “burning bull”-, the animal is called solemn and shortly thereafter is hunted through the streets. The bulls are in such pain that they run against walls in a desperate attempt to extinguish the fire. But no chance: the fire burns them for hours the horns, the eyes, the body. Because tar is not easy to extinguish: it’s a sticky lump of tar or turpentine. A sight that would make civilized and empathetic people shudder.

The barbaric scenes can be seen in video.

-toro-j-bilo-toro-de-fuego-stier-festival-spanien--1v6b

This perverse form of “culture” and “tradition” is being clapped, cheered and celebrated by brain-sick proletarians.

If one is enthusiastic and can enjoy, how an innocent and completely defenseless animal suffers and is tortured with fire to death, one is no more than a miserable monster, and has not even earned his own human rights.

At the end of the barbaric spectacle, the victim either succumbs to his injuries or is killed for a subsequent feast dinner!

As the Pisa study shows, Spain is at the back end of education in Europe; This is also noticeable in the fact, that traditions from the Middle Ages are perceived with enthusiasm, which would only scare and disgust every other educated person.

Animal welfare organizations such as ‘PETA’ have long been campaigning against animal feast festivals like this one. But the use bears little fruit.

PETA has launched an online petition since 2014. Please sign!

England: So Called Evidence That The Bovine TB government strategy is working is called untrue by vets and animal specialists.

George Eustice’s boast that government strategy is working called untrue by vets and animal specialists

bad cull 1

Government claims that the controversial badger cull is reducing tuberculosis rates in cattle have been undermined by a group of leading vets and animal welfare experts who have shared data that, they say, confirms it has made no difference.

Last month the farming minister George Eustice said: “Reductions in TB cases in Somerset and Gloucestershire are evidence that our strategy is delivering results.” But the group, which includes Iain McGill, the former government vet who helped expose the BSE cover-up, Adam Grogan, head of wildlife at the RSPCA, and Mark Jones, head of policy at the Born Free Foundation, disagrees.

In a letter, published in edited form in today’s Observer, and in full on the Network For Animals website, they are among 15 signatories who claim that “when ministerial statements are used as justification for the slaughter of badgers on an industrial scale … it is vital that they … reflect the best available veterinary and scientific advice”.

badger artwork

The agriculture ministry’s claims are based on the “incidence rate” – calculated by examining the number of new cases of TB in cattle herds. However, the signatories claim this approach, using “complex and sometimes obscure calculations”, is wrong. They suggest the focus should be on the percentage of cattle herds in badger culling zones which have the disease at a specific point in time.

Their letter states: “Examination of that data … demonstrates no reduction in the prevalence of bTB (bovine TB) infected herds in Gloucestershire or Somerset as a result of culling.”

It continues: “The prevalence in cattle is no lower than it was before culling, despite the killing and removal of 1,879 badgers in Gloucestershire and 1,777 in Somerset. A total of 3,656 badgers have been killed with no perceivable disease control benefits.”

There is now public disquiet at the violence and animal suffering associated with the badger cullLetter’s signatoriesIn Gloucestershire the prevalence of the disease fell to 6.9% in the three years running up to the cull before plateauing at 7.1% after four years of culling. In Somerset it fell successively for the three years up to the cull to 6.1%, before rising to 7.2% after four years of culling.

“There are approximately the same proportion of bTB affected herds now as there were before culling started,” the signatories claim. “Badger culling has not resulted in a decrease in bTB in cattle in cull zones … Any statement made to the contrary is untrue.”

The Zoological Society of London claims there is “no robust evidence that England’s policy of mass culling” is reducing TB in cattle. The signatories call on Eustice to withdraw his statement. “When proven harm is committed to animals on a very large scale, accompanied by documented animal abuse and … unaccompanied by any disease control benefits, the only option for any responsible government is to abandon the policy immediately,” they write.

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs said: “The minister was commenting on this drop in new cases which is the primary measure behind our analysis on the effect of the culls. This is the same measure used in the randomised badger culling trial.

“Calling our calculation of the rate of new bTB cases ‘opaque and impossible to confirm independently without raw data’ is simply incorrect.”

We need a new morality!

Chinese mit Kätzchen an Platte_n

This Asian man carries cats on the tray to grill. It is legal in his country. In other countries it is also legal, although not this type of animal. There is no difference between a cat or any other species, including the human, it’s the same suffering and pain.

It’s not about cursing a race or nationality. The point is that the traditional animal protection law has become obsolete: it allows animals to be injured and killed for trivial reasons. It allows us to kill male chicks immediately after hatching, just because they do not lay eggs and their death saves money.

It allows us to keep female cows in chains as slaves and kill them just because their milk yield ceases after a quarter of their life expectancy.

The the animal welfare law allows us to treat animals as raw material!

It is about understanding and seeing that we have deprived the animals of all their rights.
Humanity is morally ill, still in the 21st century, today and here in 2018.

A society that kills animals on “assemby line”, a society that destroys lives and does not respect animal rights, can not be a healthy society.

The human species behaves sadistic, vile and psychotic, and to change it, the first step is: we have to give animals their rights. We must accept that animals have rights – these are essential to a serious protection of the law – for humans as well as for animals.

As long as we don`t realize that torture and murder of non-human beings is a crime that has no moral justification and therefore we are no longer entitled to, then the human race remains a desolate heap of underdeveloped criminals, wich do not even deserve human rights.

People need to know what animal rights are, through information, education, conviction. And that’s our mission, that’s the duty of animal rights activists to show them the reality and make them realize that we can never seriously protect animals unless the vegan lifestyle is mainstream.

Japan finds itself buried in plastic waste after China stops importing world’s trash

Nations across the globe are beginning to suffer from waste build-up, after China stopped importing recyclable garbage this year. Japan has become the latest country reporting severe recycling industry overload.

China’s ban on imports of 24 types of solid waste materials, such as soda bottles, mixed paper, recycled steel and newsprint, has impacted the recycling chain across the globe. Japan, which last year exported about half of its 1.5 million tons of annual plastic waste, is now piled higher and deeper in its own garbage, with many local governments struggling to cope with the problem.

About a quarter of 102 local governments surveyed reported seeing accumulated plastic waste, which in some cases overreached sanitary norms, Environment Ministry data showed this week. At least 34 municipalities noted that they are failing to find new destinations to outsource their plastic after domestic costs of processing waste shot up.

China’s refusal to accept more garbage is overstretching the Japanese recycling industry, with 34.9 percent of companies limiting or considering restricting the quantities of plastics they can accept. To deal with the problem, the Japanese ministry said it will expand domestic capacity to process plastic waste. The government also wants to introduce measures to prevent illegal dumping and expand the use of bioplastics, which are biodegradable.

A similar problem was reported this weekend in the UK, which last year exported roughly two-thirds of its recyclables. The Local Government Association (LGA) blamed the Chinese ban for the change in councils’ recycling methods which are forcing the local authorities to add an extra £500,000 a year in cost. “It’s clear that the ban by China on imported waste, which could soon be implemented by other countries, could have a marked impact on councils’ ability to recycle,” said Martin Tett, environment spokesman for the LGA.

China, which over the last 25 years was taking in 45 percent of cumulative plastic imports, without a doubt made a huge impact on the global recycling system. While many Chinese companies relocated their operations to Malaysia, the Asian country does not have the capacity to replace China and this week imposed a three-month ban on imports. We “will do our very best to ensure that Malaysia not be the plastic rubbish bin of developed countries,” Science, Technology and Environment and Climate Change minister Yeo Bee Yin said.

Vietnam, which once welcomed foreign shipments, is also finding it hard to cope with recyclables, imposing a temporary ban on imports between June and October. Thailand, the other world destination of plastic goods, reportedly will ban imports by 2021. The closure of Asian countries to plastic will also affect the US, which in the first six months of this year, exported its recycling to Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam.

Spain: hunters again on the murder!

Spain

The hunting season with Galgos will start around the 20th of October, depending on region. During the first months of the hunting season, until Christmas more or less, thousands of Galgos that are not good enough at hunting (in the opinion of the hunters), will be killed in brutal ways.

Now, as October begins, the training of Galgos is going on, at its peak, for the upcoming hunting season. It is not at all uncommon that Galgos die from wounds caused by falling during training, when the Galgos run behind cars at around 60 km / hour. The video shows training at night, with the Galgos running in front of the vehicle (not as common).

Training für GalgosRunning for their lives at 60 km/h.

You are probably familiar with some of them by now, such as the ”Pianist” hangings, deliberate breaking one of a dog’s legs and then leaving to starve to death, throwing the dogs into empty wells or off high cliffs. –

FOTO mit aufgehängten Galgo“Pianist” torture

Living conditions for hunting dogs are usually very bad. Partido Animalista (PACMA) published a new video three days ago, showing an example of these (see above).

To train Galgos, the serial perpetrators are every means right. Galgos do not live longer than 2-3 years. Thereafter, the death is done by hanging. In this way, Spain’s hunters direct every year thousands of dogs that have served in the rabbit hunt. This is especially true of the Galgos, a Spanish variant of the greyhound, that ends up on the rope at the end of the shooting season. This is what the hunters call “tradition”, for which the cartridge is often too expensive for the coup de grace or the veterinarian’s euthanasia.

Galgo als Skelet_n

Incidentally, only those Galgos who have proven themselves to be hunting hunters are hanged on the tree. For those who are less successful, a “punishing catalog” has come into being among the Spanish hunters, making the dog’s death even more painful.
As follows: The noose around the neck is only pulled up so far that the hind legs of the dog are just on the ground. “So the poor creatures spend up to two and a half hours dying,” animal rights activists say. “Or, even more cruelly, they are simply tied to the tree with the strangle leash until they die of starvation, thirst and exhaustion.” (that’s what the psychopaths call “play piano”!!)

galgos-gehängt auf BaumjpgHere’s another Galgo”Pianist”- victim  of Spain’s psychopath hunters

The Spanish state, meanwhile, watches the bustle of the animal torturers quite unmoved. There are few people, as always animal rights activists, who, as in any such country, carry the burden on their shoulders alone and with their own initiative try to save what is to save, and unfortunately with each passing day grows.

Spain is one of the worst countries in animal cruelty in Europe.

But Spain, we have to say it too, has the strongest animal protection party in Europe.
And that is PACMA!

The petition to the European Parliament is still going on.

Korean Dogs – October Newsletter; Actions, Video etc.

Despite the fact that dog and cat meat consumption is an everyday occurrence and is being carried out all over South Korea, it is NOT LEGAL in that country. Their Government does nothing to stop this illegal practice and they seem happy to ignore it; many Korean citizens are just as apathetic and must also be held accountable.

Execution from the air!

The wilde horses, also do not have a simple life on this earth!

Australia

First, 45,000 wild horses in the United States should be euthanized and now in the land of 160 million sheep and 24 million cattle australian wild horses from the air to be killed.
Millions of sheep and cattle – it does not take much imagination to imagine what these millions of animals can do on the fragile ecosystem of dry soil. Anyone who has ever traveled through Australia, has seen it with his own eyes. Added to this is the enormous cultivation of sugarcane. Large amounts of fertilizer and pesticides are washed from the sugar cane acreage over streams and rivers into the sea and endanger the Great Barrier Reef.

Australische-Wildpferde

Nevertheless: The government of the Australian capital Canberra is considering the killing of wild horses from the air.  With the excuse, wild horses could pollute the drinking water sources.

And now the environment minister of Canberra Mick Gentleman says the wild horses population could increase when wild horses from the protected Kosciuszko National Park cross the borders to Namadgi National Park.
Currently, horses arriving in the Canberras area are trapped, sedated and then shot.

He is worried that the wild horses of Kosciuszko pollute the catchment area of Cotter, Canberra’s most important drinking water source, if they crossed the border. “We know that the horses go into the water and that they can destroy boundaries of watercourses. The impact on us could be serious. We know that horses do not know our limits” he says.

It is easier to blame the wild horses if the groundwater is dirty or the delicate sward is destroyed.
In part, wild horses are shot in large numbers by helicopter, if possible so that no one sees.

Wildpferde mit Helikopter gejagt
In May of this year, a killing of 6,000 animals had been averted at the last minute, but now the agricultural lobby seems to be making strong, because the first pillar of Australian agriculture is sheep farming followed by cattle breeding.

In May 2018 it had been said that the wild horses, also called “Brumbies”, were an important part of the tradition in the region for almost 200 years and the government wanted to protect and resettle them. There have been heated debates in the media in Australia on this topic.

My comment: The fascist naturalness, with which criminal governments and their lobbies decide on the rights of animals, only shows which dictatorial system determines our everyday live.

The meat industry, the farma owners, the slaughterers, the hunters … a whole mafia that lives at the expense of “useful” animals, uses every dirty excuse and propaganda to execute the life of (still) free living horses.
Of course we have to mention the equally dirty targets of the politicians, who count on votes and advantages if they support the agrarian lobby.
It takes enormous potential for nerves to endure this fascism of everyday life.

My best regards to all, Venus

Additional info from Mark:

Maybe the Aus government; of which there have been many recently; are being sent a message by the electorate.  Wild horses, live animal exports, etc; the worm has turned and it really is time that the ‘government’ woke up and started to listen to the voices of the Australian people.  If they don’t; then this could be a clear sign of what happens.

Australia’s ruling coalition suffered a “catastrophic” loss in a crucial by-election on Saturday that has left prime minister Scott Morrison without a parliamentary majority.

In a stunning result that looms as the worst swing against a government in Australian history, an independent candidate, Dr Kerryn Phelps, won a comfortable victory against her Liberal opponent, Dave Sharma, in the Sydney seat of Wentworth.
