for stray dog adoptions

Seoul Metropolitan City, the capital of South Korea, where quarter of Korean citizens reside is now taking action to improve animal welfare and reduce pet abandonment.

The Korea Times reported on March 19, 2019, “Starting late March, Seoul residents who adopt stray dogs from shelters can enroll in a city-subsidized insurance plan regardless of the dog’s age, breed and medical history, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced.“

Animals Asia – New Rescues In Vietnam -Your Help Needed – Please Donate Today Thank You (WAV).

AA logo 1

We are putting out this appeal for Animals Asia; as I (Mark) have a real problem with bear bile farming – I want to do all I can to stop it asap with your help.

“Over my dead body will you get the rest of those bears…”

…that’s what the bile farmer said.

Authorities were forcing him to give us two of the eight bears on his ‘farm’.

Of course, he chose the weakest, sickest bears. The ones whose emaciated little bodies he’d plundered almost to death… Myrtle (pictured) and Amelia. AA March 1 19

By 2022, bear bile farming will be illegal in Vietnam. No loopholes. No exceptions.

Now the race to save the last bile bears in Vietnam has begun. It’s why I’m turning to you today…

Because ‘bile bears’ like Myrtle are in more grave danger than ever.

Today you can help ensure that as many of Vietnam’s last bile bears make it out of this dirty trade with their precious lives as possible.

Will you join the fight to save Vietnam’s
last bile bears with a donation today?

donations 2

Please, give now. Before it’s too late for even one more bear.

AA March 2 19

Myrtle was dying.

Too weak to eat. A single claw remained on her right paw, she was the long-ago victim of a bone-crushing snare.

But nothing… not even the agony of steel on bone and nursing her raw stump alone…

Nothing could have prepared gentle Myrtle for the torture she suffered since the moment they captured her.

Only with your generous love and gifts of hope could we take Myrtle away that day. Without you, who knows what could have happened to her…

Because some farmers could try to kill and sell their bears before they can be rescued.

Paws,
teeth,
claws,
gall bladder,
and bones…
all can be harvested to sell on the black market.

Half of bile farmers have admitted doing it. They see this blood money as compensation for their soon-to-be ‘worthless’ bears.

AA March 3 19

Because when our emergency response team receives a call about a bear, or two, or ten, in urgent need… we must act fast.

Your gift could fund the urgent rescue missions to help save as many of Vietnam’s last bile bears as possible.

Your cherished gift could fund the trucks to rush survivors to safety…
or the urgent pain relief these battered bears desperately need…
or the fresh food and water after a lifetime of eating grey sludge…
or our amazing team who undertake these difficult, urgent rescues…

…No bear left behind.

Please donate what you can today.

The coming months and years will be filled with uncertainty, as we try to save Vietnam’s last bile bears. But one thing I do know for certain is this…

Your dedication and love for these magical animals has already saved the sweet lives of Myrtle, Amelia, and hundreds more beautiful bears.

No bear should die alone. Unnamed and unloved. And if your gift today saves even one more gentle bile bear, yours will be a blessing like nothing they’ve ever known before…Just ask our little Myrtle.

Please give today and help save Vietnam’s last bile bears, before it’s too late.

With the very warmest bear hugs of hope,

PS I promised the rest of the bears we would be back for them. And you made that promise come true. Because every rescue starts with you.

As Vietnam’s bear bile industry collapses, we cannot allow the very victims of this disgusting trade to be the victims of its downfall too. Please, donate now and help save the last bile bears in Vietnam. Thank you so much for caring.

Dear Mark,

When bears like Myrtle need you… there you are.

Your gifts of love and hope send healing hands… life-saving medicines… fresh, nutritious food… and above all, the rare and precious chance to escape the torture of bile farming.

Thank you so very much for your recent donation.

Without you, gentle souls like Myrtle would have no hope. But today, Myrtle, who lost a paw in the bile-wars, is surrounded by love and joy. Her gentle brown eyes, once filled with such fear and sorrow, today twinkle like stars… all because of you.

To bears like Myrtle, your kind gift brings salvation. Sanctuary. Everything.

We start the day with two good news!!

USA-Flagge

It is encouraging if we can start our day with good news. Today there are even two and both come from the USA!!

Great news: The pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson has given a life-saving commitment following talks with PETA USA. In the future, the company will neither conduct the cruel forced swim test itself, nor will it finance appropriate animal testing.
In the forced swimming test, mice or other small animals are placed in a water tank and must swim to despair if they do not want to drown. On March 5, 2019, we reported about it (https://worldanimalsvoice.com/2019/03/05/hopelessness-from-the-lab/).

Schwimmtest-Ratte-

Both Johnson & Johnson and its subsidiary Janssen have published in recent years documents about the implementation of this completely pointless animal cruelty. The announcement made now signals the end of animal suffering in these nonsensical tests.

Johnson & Johnson made the right decision with the end of the forced swim test, because the experiment is not only scientifically useless, but also incredibly cruel.

In December 2018, AbbVie was the first pharmaceutical company publicly against the attempt. After PETA USA had asked the company to do so, they agreed not to carry out or finance the test in the future. On the company’s website it can be read that the Forced Swim Test is currently not carried out, an implementation is not planned in the future and corresponding attempts are not financed.

My comment: is nothing else but boundless joy!!

And now the second good news, also from USA!

USA-Flagge

In a resounding victory for animals, PETA has learned that the notorious Garden Bros. Circus will be allowed to carry out its scheduled performances in Washington, D.C., this weekend with willing human participants only—no animals can be forced to perform. DC Health denied the circus an Exotic Animal Permit. Garden Bros. has an “F” rating from the Better Business Bureau, and its workers have been caught striking an elephant in the face with a bullhook, whipping a llama onstage, forcing lame elephants to give rides and perform tricks, denying veterinary care to wounded and injured animals, and more.

The owners of the circus are having a rocky start to the tour season:

  • After learning that Garden Bros. was headed to the Greenville Convention Center in South Carolina, PETA worked with the venue which committed to banning Garden Bros. and all other circuses from performing there with animals in the future.
  • The Antelope Valley Fair & Event Center in Lancaster, California, decided to skip Garden Bros. performances scheduled there.
  • The Board of Selectmen in Walpole, Massachusetts, denied Garden Bros. a permit to put on a show there after learning about the circus from caring local advocates and the Massachusetts SPCA, which used information supplied by PETA.
  • With “Nosey’s Law” newly in effect in New Jersey, Garden Bros. won’t be able to force elephants and camels to perform in the Garden State. Authorities notified Garden Bros. that its advertising in the state depicts prohibited animals and rides and appears to violate the law. The letter goes on to tell the circus to update its materials immediately and inform consumers who have already bought tickets that the show will not have wild and exotic animals.

We’re glad the venues and localities above have joined the long list of ones that have already canceled Garden Bros. shows, barred it from performing with animals, or banned all animal acts. Now, more than 650 retail venues prohibit or restrict circuses with animals, and that number will continue to grow.

https://www.peta.org/blog/washington-dc-garden-bros-circus-perform-without-animals/

My comment: In Europe, there are 22 countries that have introduced wildlife prohibition or even general prohibition of animals in the circus. Germany is NOT included.

roncali cirkuspg

There are 17 countries worldwide, which also have wildlife prohibition in the circus.
Bolivia, for example, has general animal prohibition in circus!
But not Germany.
And Bolivia is a poor country. Bolivia is not Europe. And Bolivia has never said it has one of the best animal welfare laws in the world.
We can not name it other than that corrupt politicians has made Germany a circus number worldwide.

Trophy Hunt: an industry of psychopaths

Ebay4

The demand for hunting trips is high. This year, even the hunt for a polar bear was offered by the Safari Club International in Las Vegas for a price of 72 000 US $.

Many animals are threatened with extinction. Nevertheless, they are killed out of sheer lust for murder. But these people are willing to pay a lot of money. The more threatening a species is, the more expensive it is the launch.

Even in the EU, the hunting lobby seems to have a mighty power, because the trophy hunt is even supported by the EU.
Botswana has been under pressure from the EU to lift the hunting ban. Botswana gained a notorious fame when Juan Carlos, who was WWF Honorary President and King of Spain at the time, broke his hip while hunting elephants. And so it became known that he “rang” the population density of African elephants also through safari !!
In November 2016, Chekedi Khama, Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment of Botswana, said his country was under unprecedented pressure from the pro-hunting lobby.

The EU and regional neighbors call for the lifting of the hunting ban, which was imposed in 2014.

Those who do not want to bid on Ebay can find out about trophy hunting from January 30 to February 4, 2018 at Europe’s largest hunting fair – HUNTING & DOG (JAGD & HUND). Elephant and rhino hunting was even offered at the last fair. Around 80,000 visitors and 800 companies from 41 nations participated in 2018. And the assumption is obvious that prominent hunters prevent the prohibition of hunting trophies.

EBAY8This is a hunting safari in the Kalahari of South Africa – This is a 7 day hunt. 5 full hunting days with a travel day on each end. The hunt will include Blue Wildebeest, Blesbok, warthog and zebra.  AUF EBAY

Eisbären-Jagd aud E bayThere are also auctions where you can bid on hunts on polar bears – as you can see in the screenshot above.

The WWF claims that sustainable trophy hunting can be an effective conservation tool (!!!). The German Hunting Association (DJV) welcomed these position of the Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF) for hunting abroad.

Did you know that the European Parliament voted in favor of legal and sustainable trophy hunting despite protests from within its own ranks?
“The absolute ban on trophy hunting imposed by some members of parliament could be averted”, said Karl-Heinz Florenz (Germany), MEP,  in Hunter magazine.

So there is the Safari Club International in German!!. Here the hunting enthusiasts meet regularly for a regular’s table in Munich. By now you should be aware of why the EU does not want to ban the trophy trade.

Also in Germany you pay gladly for a shoot of a polar bear 40 000 Euro. Paradoxically, the ice bar is the hallmark of climate change!

In the following video, you can see an emaciated polar bear fighting desperately for survival.
His white coat covers the bony body.
He pulls a hind leg behind him. In search of food, the polar bear digs with his last strength in a nearby garbage bin, which is used by Inuit fishermen.
He finds nothing and falls resignedly back to the ground.

Did you know that Canada is forbidden to feed polar bears, but Canada is the only country where you can hunt polar bears?

The hunts take place in the areas of various Inuit communities, in the east as well as in the central Arctic region.

My comment: How sick does one have to be as a trophy hunter in order to “pose” next to the animal carcasses and to take pictures with the smile of a senile?
Or is there anything more awful than hanging heads from the sneaky-shot carcasses into the living room to show the world what a nasty, cowardly scum he is?

People who kill animals for fun are deranged. In today’s society, those who feel nothing about killing are seriously ill. This is confirmed by common sense.

This trophy hunting industry is the godchild of corrupt politicians, especially EU politicians. This industry is a corrupt business that also ruins an entire nation, if its society accepts the business because it has no civil courage to organize its forces against criminals.

USA: Project Coyote Action Alert – Take Action and Speak Up for Wolves – NOW !

Proj coy action alert

Dear Mark,

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has issued a proposed rule to strip Endangered Species Act (ESA) protections for gray wolves in the lower 48 states – a premature decision unsupported by science that will further threaten an already imperiled species. Federal protections for gray wolves brought the species back from the brink of extinction following decades of persecution. This rash decision to delist wolves from the list of endangered and threatened wildlife would allow states to open killing seasons on wolves, permitting special interest trophy hunters and trappers to senselessly kill wolves before the species has made a full recovery. As demonstrated in Idaho where wolves have already been stripped of federal ESA protections, once delisting occurs the species is open to a variety of killing activities – including predator derbies, contests and tournaments where those who kill the most or largest wolves are awarded prizes. This is after the federal government spent millions of taxpayer dollars reintroducing wolves into Yellowstone National Park after their populations were decimated from unlimited killing!

We need your help to keep federal protections in place for wolves so these iconic and vital animals are able to recover and return to their historic range.

Please submit comments TODAY in opposition to the proposed rule to delist wolves.

Talking Points

Your comments can simply state: “I am in opposition to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service’s proposed rule to remove Endangered Species Act protections for gray wolves in the lower 48 states. I urge you to reconsider this proposed rule and to instead develop a national wolf recovery plan for wolves that reflects their intrinsic value and the myriad ecological, aesthetic, and economic benefits the species provides to our communities and ecosystems.”

For maximum impact, however, we encourage you to personalize your comments. Here are some talking points you may consider incorporating:

  • Continuing Endangered Species Act protections for wolves is necessary for the species to fully recover. Federal protections saved gray wolves from extinction following decades of persecution – and the species is still recovering, currently occupying only a fraction of their historic range.
  • The proposed rule would transfer authority over wolves to state wildlife management agencies, which historically have shown little interest in preserving or restoring wolves. These state agencies have catered to special interest groups who seek to kill wolves for trophies or entertainment, or on the misguided belief that killing wolves protects livestock or increases deer and elk populations.
  • Wolves are vital to healthy ecosystems. Benefits wolves provide include increasing biodiversity by keeping large herbivores such as deer from overgrazing habitats and maintaining the health of prey animals such as deer by culling the sick members from the heard, including animals suffering from Chronic Wasting Disease.
  • The best available, peer-reviewed science demonstrates that killing wolves will not protect livestock or increase populations of game species like deer or elk. Wildlife management decisions should be based on ethics and sound science, not fear and misunderstandings.
  • The vast majority of Americans are wildlife watchers who prefer to view wolves in their natural habitat – preserved and treated with respect. Allowing wolves to return to their historic range and thrive will provide far more benefits to our economy than allowing a tiny minority of the population to extirpate these iconic animals from our landscape.

Thank you for acting TODAY to protect wolves from extinction!

Punish the man who tortures his puppy!

Punish the man who tortures his puppy!

I want the authorities to intervene, both the Prosecutor’s Office and PROPAEM to have the dog removed from this subject and be judged for animal abuse. I saw this video of this man torturing a puppy in his house in Ixtapaluca, State of Mexico, and my blood flowed, how do we continue to allow these things without anyone doing anything?

The man wet the dog with a pressure washer of those who have the strength to remove the paint from a wall or the old dirt of a floor, imagine what it does to the poor puppy hitting him with water in the face. Immediate punishment! What are you waiting for?

Justice for Chihuahua Brutally Dismembered and Dumped in Trash

PETITION TARGET: Floyd County Police Chief Mark Wallace

In Lindale, Georgia, a chihuahua was dismembered, burned, and dumped in a trash can.

After mutilating and torturing the dog, the sick individual behind the cruel act wrapped the dead animal in a sheet and carelessly tossed the remains into the garbage outside of a car wash.

Floyd County Police Sergeant Chris Fincher described the disturbing state of the dog’s corpse: “The legs were removed and the body appeared to be cut in half.”

Some other body parts were missing, including portions of the dog’s head.

The horrific scene took an emotional toll on the police. “Police officers, we’re trained for certain things, but this sort of thing we’re really not trained for,” Fincher said.

Whoever committed this gruesome act is a threat to both animals and people and needs to be put behind bars.

Sign this petition urging the Floyd County Police Department to do everything in their power to identify this dangerous individual and bring them to justice.

Anyone with information about this crime is urged to call the Floyd County Police Department at (706) 235-7766.

Call For Lolita and Other Orcas to Be Transferred to a Seaside Sanctuary

Despite overwhelming evidence that orcas suffer in captivity and that the tide of public opinion has turned against marine-mammal confinement, Parques Reunidos, the parent company of the Miami Seaquarium and Marineland Antibes in France, continues to confine intelligent, sensitive orcas to cramped concrete tanks.

Lolita was torn away from her family and natural habitat in Puget Sound decades ago, along with dozens of other orcas who were later sold to marine parks.

Nearly half a century later, she’s the last surviving orca of the 45 who were captured there, and she’s still imprisoned by the Miami Seaquarium. She has been alone since 1980, when her tank mate, Hugo, died after repeatedly ramming his head into a wall.

Across the ocean, four orcas – named Wikie, Inouk, Moana, and Keijo – are trapped at Marineland Antibes in France, where at least 12 orcas have died, including two in 2015. Four months after his mother, Freya, died, a 19-year-old orca named Valentin was killed during severe flooding, along with many other animals.

The parks are a showcase of neglect and abuse: orcas swim in repetitive patterns, vomit, chew on metal cage bars until they irreparably damage their teeth, and bang their heads against concrete walls.

Please help free Lolita, Wikie, Inouk, Moana, and Keijo – urge Parques Reunidos to retire them to a seaside sanctuary, where they could feel the ocean’s waves, hear the calls of wild orca pods, and finally have some semblance of a natural life.

Animal testing for the poison glyphosate

Tierversuche-Mauese-Ratten-USA

Animal testing for glyphosate

Scientists and authorities have been discussing the use of glyphosate and other pesticides for years. While some experts believe that glyphosate can cause cancer in humans, others rely on the opposite. So far, no satisfactory agreement has been reached. The new approval of glyphosate by the EU in 2017 has provoked strong calls for a revision of the regulatory process.

-18-glyphosat-tierversuche

The poison kills not only “weeds” but also other plants and is thus a major cause of the massive extinction of species, because the animals are deprived of their livelihood. The International Agency for Research on Cancer’s (IARC) Cancer Research Agency classified it as “probably carcinogenic to humans” in a March 2015 report.

However, the WHO / FAO Panel on Pesticide Residues (JMPR), on the basis of its own commissioned studies, found that the chemical would pose no threat to humans.

Animal testing for glyphosate

For decades countless animal tests have been conducted to determine the “safety” of glyphosate, in which thousands of rats, dogs, mice and rabbits were tortured and killed. Although glyphosate is extensively used in agricultural and consumer products, it seems more divided than ever before on its potential toxicity!!

Tierversuche-Mauese-Ratten-104-0418-c-PETA-USA

Unreliable animal experiments on cancer

Regulators rely mainly on an attempt to develop rodent cancer. The test requires hundreds of rats and / or mice to determine if a chemical causes cancer in humans. It is now well known that the test results vary in part and their validity for human health is therefore doubtful.

“In contrast, epidemiological studies point to a danger of the weed killer and in contrast to the animal experiment have a very high relevance in their validity,” said Dr. med. med. vet. Gaby Neumann, Research Associate of the Medical Association.

To determine whether glyphosate is carcinogenic in humans, international reviewers reviewed 14 separate cancer tests on rodents (8 rats and 6 mice), using more than 3,500 animals. None of these experiments gave the same results when repeated!

Animal experiments as a danger

When studies produce questionable results, there is an amazing trend – more animal testing is required! This not only causes further animal suffering but also leads to regulatory decisions that take years or even decades.

According to the chairman of the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment, more than 100 individual studies were carried out for only seven of the prescribed toxicity tests of glyphosate. At least 31,000 animals were killed for it.

Maus-im-labor-peg

Mice and rats were force-fed with chemicals and killed

For a single such cancer test on mice or rats, 400 animals are needed.

Begin as soon as the rat or mouse babies no longer have to be breastfed. Usually they are then forcibly fed with chemicals administered through a tube in the throat.
The substances often cause side effects, including long-term, painful tumor growth, but also nausea, tremors and convulsions. The animals receive a daily dose of these chemicals for up to two years. After that, they are killed and dissected.

tote Mausjpg

These experiments mean pain, suffering and death for every single animal. If the authorities and scientists really care about the protection of human health, they need to recognize how unreliable these tests are and instead rely on methods that are actually relevant to humans.

The data obtained from these laboratory tests can not reliably predict adverse health effects in humans. There are hardly any doubts: Animal testing poses a danger to humans. And the problem can not be solved by throwing even more money out of the window for completely irrelevant animal experiments!

The different assessments are partly due to different results from experiments on rats, according to which the agent was sometimes classified as carcinogenic and sometimes not.
Once again, in the case of glyphosate, results from animal experiments are worthless because they are extremely unreliable.

Meaningful alternative methods

Fortunately, a paradigm shift towards animal-free testing is already under way. Today, there are several technologies based on human cells, and computer models that can predict many negative health consequences, such asf or example: Skin and eye reactions.

Zellkulturplatte-002-c-Institute-for-In-Vitro-Sciences

The regulatory authorities rely instead on animal testing – tests whose results are not transferable to humans, and even pose a danger to him.

The case of glyphosate shows this clearly.

“Thus, toxicity tests must finally be based on animal-free research methods, such as human cell cultures, in order to achieve usable results,” concludes Dr. med. vet. Gaby Neumann.

01-26230-tierversuche_laborratte_

These new technologies, which are actually relevant to humans, bring us a long way towards eliminating unreliable animal experiments. This will make it possible to make reliable predictions about the safety of chemicals in the future, and protect human health accordingly!

https://www.peta.de/glyphosat-tierversuche

My comment: For the manufacturers of this poison (Bayer / Monsanto) it is only marginally around this poison, which annually generates $ 10 billion in revenue worldwide. Much more important is the sale of genetically modified hybrid seeds, especially soy, maize and wheat, which is resistant to glyphosate. This is where the really big money is made and endless dependency is created. The annual turnover is estimated at 180 billion dollars. Glyphosate and its application products like RoundUp are just the means to an end!

More and more countries want or have already banned glyphosate.

A new study also confirms that people who are heavily exposed to glyphosate-containing pesticides have a 41% increased risk of developing a cancer called non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Angela Merkel’s (Chancellor of Germany) speech at the German Farmers’ Day in June 2017 contained a clear commitment to glyphosate: “What about glyphosate? I just want to reiterate the position of the government. The Commission has now made an extension. I know that this extension is not eternal. We will work to ensure that you continue to use this substance where it is needed. I want to say that again here. ”

Glyphosat

Today, the biggest CRIMINALS AND MASS MURDERERS get golden needles on their jackets, a lot of money, and torment animals in the lab to convince some idiots that everything is for our good!

10-Year-Old Hero Requests Shelter Donations Instead Of Birthday Gifts

10-Year-Old Hero Requests Shelter Donations Instead Of Birthday Gifts

When young Ryder Kuhlman thought about what he wanted for his tenth birthday this year, he looked around his room in Volusia County, Florida and ‘decided he had enough stuff’.  Ryder tells Lady Freethinker,

“I didn’t need any toys for my birthday, so I decided to help out some animals.”

Ryder approached his mom, Rhonda Kuhlman, with an idea.  Instead of birthday gifts, he wanted everyone to help the animals at his local shelter.  Rhonda was impressed by his gesture, but not surprised.  She tells us,  “He’s got a really big heart, and loves animals.”  When we asked Ryder what he wants to be when he grows up, he said, “I want to work in a zoo and help out.”

“I thought I could help out by getting dog food, towels, stuff like that,” Ryder explained.

So the Kuhlman’s called the shelter and asked what was on their wish list:

  • Blankets for the cages
  • Old towels for bathing
  • Cat food
  • Dog food
  • Little toys for the cats
  • Peanut butter, to hide the medicine for the animals

Ryder Kuhlman’s birthday wish list, Courtesy, Rhonda Kuhlman

Then Ryder created invitations, which specified “no presents please” but included the shelter’s suggested wish list, adding,

“Help me help the Humane Society and all of their furry friends.”

He sent them to the people on his birthday invite list, including friends and family. His mom helped him by extending Ryder’s circle of love to include her workplace.

Ryder’s birthday donations to Halifax Humane Society, Courtesy, Rhonda Kuhlman Ryder, who has two pets of his own, a poodle mix and a bearded dragon, was thrilled with the response, as was Halifax Humane.  The Kuhlmans took the truckload of donations. Halifax said it was ‘the largest birthday donation they’d ever seen!”  The day of the drop-off, Ryder got to interact with some of the animals and shelter staff, who said,

“What a generous thing to do for our community’s animals! Ryder also donated $100 in cash for the animals. Ryder YOU ROCK! ”

Just like Ryder, you too can make an impact at your local shelter.  Every rescue, every shelter, has their own wish list.  Give them a call or click on their Facebook or webpage link.

We asked Ryder what he wants to teach people about shelter animals and if he had any advice for adopters. Ryder told us, “They have to take good care of the animals, give them time, and make sure they’re ready to take them home.”

As Ryder’s t-shirt says, ‘rescued is my favourite breed’.

Wise beyond his years, Ryder proved that everyone can make a difference in the lives of animals, no matter how old you are. All it takes is listening to the message from your heart.
